  • American companies are being infiltrated—not by hackers breaking in, but by workers.

Thousands of North Korean operatives are applying to jobs across the U.S.—and getting them. They are embedding themselves at Fortune 500 companies. Government agencies. Critical infrastructure. Even the firms tasked with stopping this threat.

To Catch a Thief: North Korea On Our Payroll is a first-of-its-kind audio documentary exposing this global labor pipeline—one that is quietly funneling hundreds of millions of dollars a year back to the regime, and its nuclear weapons program.

Host Nicole Perlroth, bestselling author and former lead cybersecurity and digital espionage reporter for The New York Times, takes listeners inside this hidden network—from a rare, inside look at a North Korean IT worker on the job, to interviews with defectors who escaped it, to knocking on the doors of Americans hosting “laptop farms” on North Korea's behalf.

Along the way, the series reveals how this playbook is creating a hiring freeze for American workers, in a challenging job market. And how it has metastasized—adopted by cybercriminal groups and fraud networks around the world—blurring the line between nation-state espionage and organized crime.

To Catch a Thief is co-produced by Nicole Perlroth and Rubrik in partnership with Pod People.

To Catch a Thief was written and produced by Nicole Perlroth, along with Khrista Rypl, T. J. Raphael, Rebecca Chaisson and Sam Gebauer. Additional thanks to Allie Pinel, Fendall Fulton, Krissy Clark, Cai Lee, Eunice Park and Aimee Machado. Editing and Sound Design by Erica Huang. • Learn from history's greatest entrepreneurs. Every week I read a biography of an entrepreneur and find ideas you can use in your work.

This quote explains why: "There are thousands of years of history in which lots and lots of very smart people worked very hard and ran all types of experiments on how to create new businesses, invent new technology, new ways to manage etc. They ran these experiments throughout their entire lives. At some point, somebody put these lessons down in a book. For very little money and a few hours of time, you can learn from someone’s accumulated experience. There is so much more to learn from the past than we often realize. You could productively spend your time reading experiences of great people who have come before and you learn every time." —Marc Andreessen

  • Quran reciters hold a significant place in Islamic culture, offering powerful vocal renditions and interpretations of the Quran that deeply inspire and move listeners. Their recitations are both an art form and a spiritual act that requires years of dedicated study, mastering Tajweed, the rules of Quranic phonetics and pronunciation, and deeply understanding the meanings behind the sacred text.

For those seeking to explore new Quran reciters, including Haitham Al Dakhin, you can listen to their recitations on our website. To further enhance your experience of Quranic recitation and deepen your knowledge of the Islamic faith, consider these approaches:

Visit Islamic centers and mosques as they often have connections to Quran reciters within the community. They may offer recordings or can guide you on where to find more recitations. Attend Islamic conferences and events, as reciters frequently participate in these, providing opportunities to discover new talents and enjoy live recitations. Join online forums and communities dedicated to Islamic discussions, Quranic studies, and recitation. These platforms can help you discover recitations by Haitham Al Dakhin and similar reciters. Explore educational institutions like Islamic universities and schools focusing on Quranic studies, which often house resources and recitations from a variety of reciters, including emerging voices like Haitham Al Dakhin. The beauty of Quranic recitation lies in its diversity and the unique styles brought by each reciter. Exploring different reciters, such as Haitham Al Dakhin, offers a deeply enriching experience.

The impact of Haitham Al Dakhin’s recitations has touched countless lives, guiding individuals toward a deeper connection with their faith. His dedication to the art of Tajweed and his community work make him a source of inspiration for Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Haitham Al Dakhin exemplifies the values of humility, diligence, and service, reflecting the teachings of compassion and empathy found in the Quran.

Beyond recitation, Haitham Al Dakhin has made significant contributions in various fields including educational initiatives, leading programs that have shaped the intellectual landscape both locally and internationally. In religious leadership and scholarship, he offers spiritual guidance and interprets religious texts to support communities. As a cultural advocate, he promotes and preserves cultural heritage, enriching the broader societal fabric. Through public speaking and writing, he engages with the public through lectures, writings, and media appearances to educate and advocate for important causes.

The global influence and legacy of Haitham Al Dakhin extend beyond his recitations. His voice serves as a bridge, connecting the timeless wisdom of the Quran with the hearts and minds of a global audience. His readings evoke emotions ranging from awe to reflection, proving that the language of spirituality transcends boundaries. Haitham Al Dakhin’s legacy continues to shine as a beacon of the Islamic faith, embodying the Quran’s spiritual depth and universal appeal. In a world often marked by conflict and misunderstanding, Haitham Al Dakhin’s recitations promote peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding. His messages emphasize shared humanity and the importance of ending violence and extremism.

Through his recitations, Haitham Al Dakhin inspires not only the Islamic community but also individuals worldwide seeking enlightenment and harmony. His enduring legacy will continue to guide and illuminate future generations, showing that the impact of spirituality transcends time.

  • Emma is a high achieving, middle class girl from west London. She seems destined for a successful career in banking and a comfortable British life. Until she makes a decision that will come to define her. In 2001 Emma marries Bashar al-Assad - the now infamous dictator of Syria.

In the early days, people inside and out of Syria dared to hope. Alongside his beautiful, progressive wife, Bashar promised to modernise the country.

But when the Arab Spring reached Syria in 2011, Bashar's regime showed itself for what it really was: a brutal force, willing to capture and kill ordinary Syrians demanding change. And in all the years that a war raged on, Asma stands by her husband. She seemingly ignored the desperate pleas to stop her husband from killing his own people.

But what did she really know about the atrocities her husband’s government was carrying out? And what choices did she really have? Some people allege that she actually assisted the regime and cashed in on the war, that she herself is a war criminal. Others say she tried to run away but was trapped, held hostage by a regime who threatened her life and her children.

So, who is the real Emma?

  • Former drug trafficker and standup comedian Johnny Mitchell takes you inside the world of drugs, crime, prison, and the politics of the War on Drugs.

  • Deep Cover is a show about people who lead double lives. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jake Halpern reveals webs of deception and dark underworlds, through interviews with federal agents and convicted criminals.

Deep Cover: The Family Man: Elise and Marissa grew up in a seemingly normal house in the suburbs of St. Louis, but it was a house built on secrets. There were things their father never told them—like how he really made his money. One night, the police showed up, raided their house, and seized boxes of evidence. Hours later, the sisters turned on the TV and saw something surreal: their father’s car, in the aftermath of a police chase. The local news identified him as “The Boonie Hat Bandit.” The girls were stunned. They struggled to accept the truth: Dad had been living a double life. How long had he been lying to them? What had he done? And who, exactly, was their father? Deep Cover: The Family Man is a story about the way parents deceive their children and the crimes a desperate father will commit to save his family. It’s also a story about justice—and the question of what punishment these crimes deserve.

Deep Cover Presents: Snowball. A special limited series from the Unravel Podcast team at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Ollie Wards' family lost everything after their brush with a charming Californian con woman. As he embarks on a quest to find out how she did it, why she did it, and where she is now, he opens the door on a mystery that spans decades and across continents.

In the sixth season of Deep Cover: The Truth About Sarah, Jake Halpern and acclaimed investigative journalist Jess McHugh unravel an epic six-year deception that upended lives of countless people. Sarah Cavanaugh was many things: A decorated veteran. A Marine who saved her comrades. A young woman fighting cancer. She was stoic, humble, tough. In short: a hero. Sarah was everything people wanted her to be—until she wasn’t. Turns out, no one knew the real Sarah. Not her comrades. Not her wife. No one. Jake and Jess interview all of the key sources—including Sarah, herself—to tell this sprawling tale.

Season five covers the rise and fall of George Santos, the former Republican Congressman from New York, and the stories—many of which were not true—he told about his life and credentials.

Season four, The Nameless Man, tells the epic tale of two federal agents who investigate a rumor about a murder that supposedly took place 15 years prior. It is also the story of a family searching for answers about why their brother was killed. These two storylines collide in a courtroom in Philadelphia, where murder, memory, and morality go on trial.

Season three, Never Seen Again, tells the story of two women living on opposite sides of the country, who went missing in the summer of 1999. Seven years later, their stories collided when a small town detective got a tip and became convinced that if he could solve one mystery, he’d solve the other.

Season two, Mob Land, is about a high-rolling lawyer who joins forces with the feds to try to bring down one of the most powerful criminal syndicates in the country.

Season one, The Drug Wars, tells the story of an FBI agent who goes undercover with a biker gang, and follows a trail of clues that eventually leads to the US invasion of a foreign country.

Deep Cover drops on Mondays. To hear episodes early and ad-free, subscribe to Pushkin+ in Apple Podcasts or at pushkin.fm/plus.

Abdur Rahman as Sudais was born in the city of Qassim, Saudi Arabia in the year 1961, Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdul Aziz as-Sudais an-Najdi is a Saudi world renown Qari. In addition to being the Chief Imam and Khateeb of Masjid Al Haram in Makkah, he is also the President of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.

At the tender age of 12, Al Sudais had memorized the Holy Qur’an, and completed his preliminary education in the ‘Al Muthana Bin Harith Elementary School ‘ and graduated in 1979 with excellent grades.

The renowned Imam studied in Riyadh University – presently known as King Saud  University, received a degree in Sharia in 1983, and a Master from the Sharia College of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in 1987. In 1995 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Islamic Sharia from Umm al-Qura University and he is one of the senior teachers in the Faculty of Sharia at the same place.

Sheikh Al Sudais is known for his magnanimous voice and for his emotional, overwhelming recitation of the Quran in accordance with Tajweed. Every believer of the Muslim Ummah is not alien to this voice, so much so that Sheikh Abdul Rehman Al Sudais was even appointed by King Salman to deliver Hajj Khutbah in the year 2016/1437.

In 2005, he received the prize of the ‘ Islamic Personality Of the year’ in the 9th annual Dubai International Holy Quran Award.

Sheikh Sudais is currently overlooking the progress of the much talked about expansion of both Masjids in Makkah and Madinah, as the expansion in Masjid Al Haram targets completion at the earliest.

If you know me from my books or my speaking, you know I’m fascinated by why people do what they do. What makes someone find joy and meaning in their life, or pursue something far greater than themselves?

I started A Bit of Optimism to explore those ideas and expand my own perspective. This podcast is a trove of honest conversations, with people who challenge me, teach me, or simply help me see things in a different way. Some guests are household names, and others you may be meeting for the first time. But each one of them has something to share that can help all of us grow.

  • The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is a collection of personal reflections from the Roman Emperor, blending Stoic philosophy with practical wisdom. Written as a guide for self-improvement, it emphasizes virtues like discipline, humility, and resilience. Aurelius reflects on the impermanence of life, urging acceptance of change and the inevitability of death. He advises focusing on inner virtue rather than external distractions, practicing gratitude, and maintaining a sense of duty to others. The work is a timeless manual for leading a life of integrity, peace, and purpose, rooted in reason and harmony with the natural order of the universe. (Summary by Dream Audiobook)

Each week, they choose two pillars of the established orthodoxy — the "settled facts" — and shatter them, cutting through the spin to connect the dots between money, geopolitics, and the real forces shaping our future.

  • Behind every Bone Valley season is a conviction: the right story, told with purpose, humanity, and craft, can have an enormous impact. Award-winning investigative documentaries from the fault lines of America's justice system.

Bone Valley Season 5 | The Devil’s Quarry is the latest podcast from Lava for Good. It is hosted by Paul Solotaroff, award-winning investigative journalist and longtime contributing editor at Rolling Stone. For Paul, who has been digging at this story for 5 years, the devil has always been a myth, until now.

The bones of a twelve-year-old girl are found by a hunter in the woods.  A young woman lives inside a real-life horror movie, ignored by everyone she turns to for help. Corrupt cops turn a blind eye to the evil lurking in their midst. The wrong people are convicted of a crime. A drug dealer works tirelessly for justice from jail. Records are hidden. Fingers are pointed. Lives are at stake. In Carmel, NY, the heroes are humble, the power is corrupt, and the devil is real.

Bone Valley Season 4 | Earwitness chronicles the case of Toforest Jonhson. In 1995, Deputy Sheriff William G. Hardy was murdered behind a hotel in Birmingham, Alabama. Toforest Johnson was four miles away at the time and no physical evidence linked him to the crime. But he has been on Death Row for 25 years.

Bone Valley Season 3 | Graves County is a new story about a new case. Maggie Freleng, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and one of the hosts of Lava For Good’s Wrongful Conviction, takes us to a small town in Graves County, Kentucky, where a terrible discovery on the front lawn of a middle school invites a string of amateur and professional investigators to try to solve a murder.

In Season 2, Jeremy Gilbert King brings us a story about her actual killer, Jeremy Scott, fighting to prove his guilt. The State of Florida does not believe either man.

In Season 1 of Bone Valley, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Gilbert King tells a story of a man, Leo Schofield, fighting to prove his innocence in the case of his wife Michelle’s murder.

Bone Valley is a production of Lava for Good™ Podcasts in association with Signal Co. No1.

  • When London boutique owner Bridget Hutchcroft befriends a glamorous client at her Knightsbridge dress agency, she believes she has met a Russian socialite with vast wealth and powerful connections. Ekaterina Barrett glides through luxury apartments, London’s finest hotels and European high society dinners with unwavering confidence. Chauffeurs wait outside. Extravagant goods pile up. Money, it seems, is no object.

    Until it vanishes.

Bridget generously lends her wealthy new friend more than a million pounds, but it proves to be a disastrous mistake.

When Ekaterina refuses to pay the money back, Bridget’s loyal circle of friends step in. Journalist Vicky Baker joins them in a frantic search for answers. It turns out Bridget is not the only one claiming to be severely out of pocket thanks to the broken promises of her mysterious former friend.

What follows is an international investigation stretching from London to Vienna, the Netherlands and Monaco. Courtrooms, casinos and opera houses all reveal fragments of an increasingly bizarre story.

Witnesses describe charm turning into control. Court appearances descend into farce. Documents emerge that challenge everything Ekaterina has claimed under oath. At the centre of it all is a burning question. If Ekaterina now insists she owns nothing, who is funding the lavish life she continues to live?

Fraudacious follows Bridget’s fight for justice as the legal battle intensifies and Ekaterina’s world begins to fracture while she continues to maintain her innocence. Each episode peels back another layer of performance, power, and deception, revealing how easily wealth can be manipulated and how devastating the cost can be for those who are lured in.

This is a story about trust and illusion. About how the promise of wealth can be as potent as the real thing. And about whether the truth can finally catch up with someone who has spent a lifetime trying to stay one step ahead of everyone on her trail.
