Jay Shetty talks to Taylor Tomlinson about why sometimes it’s okay to shift your focus on something else. Dropping out of college doesn’t really mean you’re wasting your time away. In some cases, people have found success and multiple achievements after they decided to pursue something else. These pivotal moments come and go in the most unexpected ways so we all need to learn how to spot them and seize the opportunity right away.

Taylor Tomlinson began performing comedy when she was 16, after her father signed her up for a stand-up class. She became a top 10 finalist on the 9th season of NBC's Last Comic Standing in 2015 and was named one of the top 10 comics to watch by Variety at the 2019 Just For Laughs festival. Her first Netflix standup special, Quarter-Life Crisis, premiered in March, 2020. In 2021, she started her own podcast called Sad in the City and in the same year she was placed on the Forbes' 30 Under 30 list. Now her second standup special, Look at You, is now streaming on Netflix.

The daily rush of our careers often gives us so little time to pause, take a break, or have a rest. We are so used to our fast-paced work life that we find it hard to balance work and life, to find balance between building a career and living a good life. Despite this need to rush through the day and get things done, we can and we should find the right balance to live a satisfying life.

In this episode of On Purpose, Jay Shetty shares why work stress is catching up with us and how we can be in a state where we can slow down when needed and destress when necessary.

Jay Shetty sits down with Dax Shepard to talk about valuing yourself and sticking to what you believe in above all. At certain points in our life we will come across conflicting interests and opposing ideas, and these could shake the foundation of what we believe to be right. And that’s okay. Dax Shepard is an actor, comedian, writer, and director, and of course podcast host of one of my favorite podcasts, Armchair Expert. He's known for his appearance in films like Without a Paddle, Zathura: A Space Adventure, Employee of the Month, and many, many more. Falling in love with someone can happen instantly. Staying in love with the same person is hard work. In most relationships, partnerships last not because of love and all the giddy feelings that come with it. Relationships last when both partners continuously work together to build trust, deal with issues as one but still recognize deferring opinions, and plan a future together with each other’s interest and growth in mind.

In this episode of On Purpose, Jay Shetty shares with us the common reasons why many couples fall out of love and ways to save the relationship by keeping the love burning.

Jay Shetty sits down with Andrew Huberman to talk about the beauty and power of the human mind. We are all wired to feel emotions based on our experience, on our perception of what is happening around us, and on what we anticipate to happen in the future. And the most fascinating thing is that our mind perceives time differently and is dependent on how we feel.

Dr. Andrew Huberman is a tenured Professor of Neurobiology and Ophthalmology at Stanford School of Medicine. His laboratory studies neural regeneration and neuroplasticity, and brain states such as stress, focus, fear, and optimal performance. His podcast, The Huberman Lab, discusses neuroscience and science-based tools, including how our brain and its connections with the organs of our body control our perceptions, our behaviors, and our health, as well as existing and emerging tools for measuring and changing how our nervous system works.

Having a space where you feel comfortable to work on your tasks and be productive in your goals, and a safe space for you to be yourself is something we all want for ourselves. But this comfort zone doesn’t offer much room for growth and that is because the repetitive tasks that we do daily to remain productive doesn’t lead to new discoveries, challenges, and creativity. It’s just repetitive and nothing new happens. Growth becomes stagnant.

In this episode of On Purpose, Jay Shetty shares with us what keeps us in our comfort zones and what can we do to reinvent ourselves, create new paths, and open new possibilities for personal growth.
