I’m Ericka Graham, and I am so honored to be your host for this podcast. Nearly a decade ago, I graduated from Rice University, while focusing my masters research on sexuality in the Bible. More recently, I graduated from seminary and completed my thesis on soul-body integration (and embodiment). Although graduate school is over for me (at least for the time being), I still have an insatiable desire to continue learning from the wisdom and lived experiences of others. I also believe that I am never alone in my need and desire for connection, through authentic conversation. So here I am, pursuing my own curiosity, incase you are longing to do the same. My hope is that together, we can learn to take this life a tad more “curiously,” while having conversations at the intersections of faith, religion, science, mental health . . . and so much more! Thanks for being here!

The Journal of African History Podcast highlights interviews with historians whose work has appeared in The Journal of African History, a leading source of peer-reviewed scholarship on Africa’s past since its creation in 1960. Hosted by journal editors and occasional guest hosts, episodes include discussions on how scholars find and interpret sources for African history, how authors’ research contributes to debates among historians, and how Africanist scholarship can add much-needed context to broader social and political debates.

On Rethinking Communication (formerly The Follow-Up Question), independent journalist, speaking coach, and communication expert Michael Ashford explores how we can better connect with each other through the power of our words. For most of us, our formal education left gaps in our ability to communicate well with each other, especially when trying to navigate conflict, inspire change, and overcome misunderstandings. The goal is to get you to rethink how you connect with others, from the stage to the meeting room to the living room and everywhere in between.
