Sarah and Jacob Hoggle disappeared in early September 2014 from Montgomery County, Maryland. They were last seen in the care of their mother, Catherine Hoggle, who gave conflicting accounts of their whereabouts before ultimately refusing to disclose where they were. She was later arrested.
Catherine, who has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, was deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial and has remained in a psychiatric facility ever since. The children's fate remains unknown to this day. Their father, Troy Turner, continues to seek justice and answers. Their case remains one of Maryland’s most heartbreaking and high-profile missing children cases.

Nancy Grunwaldt was a German tourist visiting Tasmania, Australia in March 1993 when she, and her red rental bike, seemingly vanished into thin air. After an inquest into her disappearance, it was presumed she was killed either due to foul play or as the result of a tragic accident, but she has never been found and her case remains unsolved. Two years later, in October 1995, Italian tourist Victoria Cafasso was her cousin in Tasmania when she was found stabbed to death on a beach in Beaumaris. Despite happening in broad daylight, her murder remains unsolved to this day. Dorothea Puente is one of the most prolific female serial killers. Using her grandmotherly demeanor and image, she used the boarding house she ran to murder her residents and cash in on their social security checks. A search of her backyard led to the discovery of seven bodies, but Puente was able to slip out of investigators’ grasp by going out “for a cup of coffee”. Thankfully she was found in Southern California just days later and was charged with 9 murders in all. Her true victim count is unknown, as she maintained her innocence for her entire life. But the truth behind her crimes are more sinister than anyone who knew her could have ever imagined. Puente’s known victims were Benjamin Fink, Leona Carpenter, Dorothy Miller, Betty Mae Palmer, James Gallop, Vera Faye Martin, Alvaro “Bert” Gonzales Montoya, Ruth Monroe, and Everson Gillmouth.
