Dedicamos este episodio a recordar y reivindicar el legado de unos pioneros del punk rock británico de los 70. The Boys nacieron fabricando un punk rock acelerado y divertido de clara influencia ramoniana para acabar haciendo un power pop de guitarras poderosas y brillantes melodías. Banda integrada en su primera etapa (1976-1981) por Matt Dangerfield (voz y guitarra), Casino Steel (voz y teclados), Duncan Reid (bajo y voz), Jack Black (batería) y Honest John Plain (guitarra). La muerte de este último el pasado 13 de junio nos llevó a cocinar este homenaje al caído y a sus compañeros supervivientes. Play it loud!

Se ha ido un gigante. Uno de los mayores genios musicales del siglo XX cuya obra es parte de la banda sonora de nuestras vidas. Uno de los nombres sin los que el desarrollo del pop nunca habría sido lo mismo. La mente tras el grupo más importante de la música estadounidense de los años 60. En 1958, con sólo 17 años, Bobby Freeman alcanzó el gran éxito con su canción “Do you wanna dance?”. Así comenzó la trayectoria de uno de los más enérgicos vocalistas de los últimos años dorados del Rock’n’Roll y el R&B, quien consiguió mantenerse en la brecha hasta mediados de los años 60. El sello Sleazy Records ha lanzado dos recopilaciones, “The Fabulous Bobby Freeman”, que sobrevuelan el legado más festivo de este californiano.

Lanzado el 6 de junio de 1975 "Metamorphosis" se convertiría en el único recopilatorio oficial de rarezas y descartes de los Rolling Stones.
Un álbum que trajo su polémica. Fue compilado por Allen Klein, manager de los Stones en EEUU, uno de los tipos más poderosos y turbios que existían en el negocio musical de aquellos días, y que apostó por incluir numerosas demos de piezas que llevaban la firma de Jagger y Richards aunque hubiesen sido grabadas por otros músicos de sesión. En cualquier caso el disco nos permite saborear otras facetas y curiosidades de una de las bandas más importantes de todos los tiempos.

Titulado “¯\_(ツ)_/¯” y rebautizado como “A bunch of songs”, los de Melbourne vuelven a hacer gala de su peculiar mezcla de estilos en torno al punk, el hardcore y el metal, así como de su singular sentido del humor; la portada está hecha con 2500 imágenes, hay cuatro canciones que duran 28 segundos y se lanza una tirada limitada bañada en un perfume muy especial.

The Chemistry Set surgieron en el underground psicodélico británico de 1987. Tras una primera etapa que duró hasta mediados de los 90, el cerebro bimotor formado por Dave McLean y Paul Lake volvió a juntarse en el laboratorio. “Introduction to The Chemistry Set” (Fruits de Mer Records) es un doble álbum recopilatorio que sobrevuela esa segunda etapa -de 2009 a 2025- en donde los londinenses han dado forma a los mejores discos de su trayectoria. Aderezamos la sesión recordando un directo The Feelies registrado en 2018, “Somekind of love; performing the music of the Velvet Underground”, donde los héroes de New Jersey ofrecieron un repertorio íntegro de canciones de la legendaria banda neoyorquina.
