Despedimos al sello discográfico Family Spree Recordings, que tras 7 años de andadura dando una tremenda cobertura a nuestra escena del rocknroll underground ha anunciado el final de su trayectoria. Dirigido por Tony Devil Dog, Family Spree se convirtió en un baluarte para los sonidos de garage, punk, surf, rockabilly, pub rock, R&B y rocknroll sin etiquetas, convirtiéndose con sus cerca de 160 referencias en un pequeño retrato de lo que ha sido nuestra música subterránea en estos últimos años.

Interesante y singular trayectoria la de Tymon Dogg. Leyenda del folk alternativo, king of gypsy punk, inclasificable trovador de visión futurista. Su nueva aventura la emprende desde Granada y al frente de The Dacoits, junto a su viejo amigo Richard Dudansky (The 101’ers, PIL,…) y Antonio Arias, Juan Codorniú y JJ Machuca (todos ellos de Lagartija Nick). Presentamos el primer adelanto de su próximo álbum, excusa perfecta para arrojar un poco de luz sobre el laberíntico legado de Tymon Dogg.

Nueva entrega de la serie dedicada a recordar canciones que alcanzaron su puesto más alto en el Billboard Hot 100 de EEUU en este mes de hace 60 años. En abril de 1964 las listas de EEUU tenían nombre propio, el The Beatles, batiendo todos los récords de ventas de discos. Y tras ellos comenzaron a llegar las siguientes bandas de la Invasión británica; The Dave Clark Five, The Searchers, The Swinging Blue Jeans,... De los artistas norteamericanos solo algunos bastiones, como la Motown, consiguieron resistir y plantar cara al invasor.

"Doop-a-Go-Go Party" es el último lanzamiento del sello Juke Box Factory, manejado por el coleccionista francés El Vidoc. En él se rescatan oscuros y vibrantes singles del doo wop rhythm n’ blues y el rock’n’roll de armonías vocales de los años 50 y primeros 60. Aderezamos la sesión con otra compilación de la misma escudería; “Flash Boum! Hace 80 años, en 1944, el empresario musical Art Rupe lanzó su primera referencia con el sello Juke Box que poco después se transformaría en Specialty Records, desde donde despegó la carrera de Little Richard. Repasamos la trayectoria de esta disquera de Los Ángeles, una de las más importantes a la hora de recorrer el camino que llevó del blues, el rhythm n’ blues o el jump blues hacia aquello que acabó llamándose rock’n’roll.

Deniz Tek, músico de Michigan que se convirtió en leyenda como fundador, compositor y guitarrista de los australianos Radio Birdman a mediados de los años 70. Con motivo de su 30 aniversario el sello Wild Honey reedita su álbum “Outside” de 1994, grabado al frente del Deniz Tek Group, una de las formaciones más poderosas que le han acompañado nunca al hombre de hielo. En ese disco Deniz dio forma a una colección de canciones que condensa la quintaesencia de su personal estilo a la hora de manejar el high energy rock’n’roll. La reedición en formato doble álbum llega acompañada de un disco de extras que recoge EP’s y grabaciones en directo de aquellos días.
