    From Dana:
I’ve Been Helping People Outsmart Their ADHD Since 1998

I get it. I have ADHD, too. I know firsthand how it feels to struggle with ADHD symptoms, and what it’s like to dream of life being easier.

I felt hopeless. Frustrated that I couldn’t get the important stuff done. Overwhelmed with clutter and chaos at work and at home. Constantly afraid that I’d lose my job.

I spent years learning how to master my ADHD. Pulling apart my out-of-control life. Slowly rebuilding it piece by piece with sustainable systems and strategies to support me at work and home.

My transformation was so powerful that I’ve made it my mission to teach other adults how to master their ADHD, too.

That’s why I became an ADHD coach. Working privately by phone with clients all over the world. But, I discovered a couple of problems with private ADHD coaching.

Sure, my clients lives were changing, but they still felt so alone in their struggles. They needed a community.

And, frankly, the price of private coaching was too expensive for lots of people.

That’s why I invented the ADHD Success Club. A community of smart, professional ADHD adults who I’m teaching how to master ADHD together.

  • ADHD always comes with a side dish. Mine is depression. Dr. Sandra's is anxiety, and she and I had a wonderful conversation about anxiety, some strategies that can work for it, and we even got to learn about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Great conversation!

She is on a mission to make evidence-based anxiety support as accessible as possible through Embrace Now - her community membership platform. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from La Salle University and was trained extensively in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills. She also has personal experience with both Generalized Anxiety Disorder and ADHD.

  • I was so fortunate to be educated by the great Dr. Shane Calhoun of Calhoun Counseling Services.

He explains the neurochemicals better than I've ever heard and he simplifies it perfectly for my skull spaghetti.

Dr. Shane Calhoun is a Clinical Health Psychologist who specializes in Adult ADHD. He has several masters degrees and graduated with his doctorate from Loma Linda University in 2012. He has been licensed for over a decade and in the last year he left his position as the Training Director at Cal Poly Humboldt to invest in the neurodiverse community through his private practice. He has been guest host on both radio and podcasts helping people in the neurodiverse community advance on their own personal wellness journeys. You can find more information about him on his profile on Psychology Today.

He also runs ADHD counseling groups and one is starting on the 9th of July. They will be accepting new members into the foreseeable future and would love it if you reached out. Enrollment is ongoing so check in at any time. If a group fills up, he will form a new one.

His Psychology Today profile will have more information on how you can contact him as well as his personal website at CalhounCounselingServices.com

    More from Dr. Shane:

I have been a good fit for individuals looking for a supportive space to address anxiety and depression, needing movement in developing new coping strategies, seeking a deeper level of wellness and balance, or identity development. I have often found that I work well with those who have found therapy unhelpful in the past and are looking to give it another try. I also recognize that counseling is a different experience for those who identify as ADHD or ASD. The neuro-diverse culture is an area that I have experience in and that I find meaningful to work with.

Some difficulties are a necessary part of our journey to live meaningfully, but not all of them. We can let go of unhelpful ways of coping and create new habits, making this journey more meaningful and goal oriented. Each story is unique and no solution universal. I look forward to hearing your unique experience so we can explore what wellness means for you.

If you are curious about whether we are a good fit, let's have a 15 minute consultation and figure that out together.

  • I appreciate it so much when you guys send me emails. And I was recently inspired by a listener who shared something she would do as a single mother when trying to keep the home relatively clean.

    The checklist she mentioned:
    1. Go through every room and only throw away any garbage you see.
    2. Do The same with recyclables and put in bag.
    3. Go through every room and pick up any dishes, cups, and utensils and put in sink.
    4. Go through every room and put away shoes.
    5. Do the same with any clothes or towels and put away or in dirty laundry pile
    6. Do the same with books, magazines, mail and paperwork that is out of place.
TAKE A BREAK and have some diet coke and potato chips
    7. Wash the dishes and wipe down the counters and stove top.
    8. Put a load of laundry in the washer.
    9. Vacuum floors.
    10. Clean toilet and wipe down sink in bathroom.

And here was my amended one for my apartment that I tried:
    1. Empty/load dishwasher and run if full.
    2. Go through every room and collect dirty dishes, put in dishwasher or sink.
    3. Go through every room and only throw out garbage.
    4. Go through every room and put away shoes.
    5. Do the same with any clothes or towels and put away or in dirty laundry.
    6. Do the same with books, mail, paperwork that is out of place.
    7. Organize the bookshelves
    8. Make bed
    9. Wipe down kitchen counters and stove.
    10. Clean toilet and wipe down sink and counter.
    11. Organize bathroom counter
    12. Vacuum rugs

Done and Done! Give this a try and let me know how it goes. Or if you have a checklist of your own you'd like to share, please reach out, I'd love to hear it!
