Thank you so much to Andy for commissioning this episode!
This section is the one in which Yerin faces off against her challenger, Calan Archer, and low-key loses control of her blood-shadow. She wins the fight in the end, but I can't help thinking that the fact she spends half the match fighting against her own weapon is going to make her look weak.
Meanwhile, the two sages are each coming to their own conclusions regarding the shadow, and when her match is over the Winter Sage thinks she should starve it, while Charity thinks they should hone it and use it. I hope that's what they do.
Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode! -
Thank you very much to Andy for commissioning this episode!
These are the chapters that contain one of the major battles we've been waiting to see: Mercy versus Sophara. And Mercy loses.
I'm so sad for her. I know that she is under a ton of pressure and that so much was riding on this for her family and for her mother, and I'm genuinely not sure what happens now. I am starting to think the tournament isn't going to be completed the way it's intended to be, but what would have to happen to throw things off-course?
Thanks so much to you all for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode! -
Thank you very much to Andy for commissioning this episode!
These chapters are the ones where Lindon gets into his first real fight with some higher-level members of Abyssal Palace and puts his new armor to the test. This armor is BADASS AS FUCK and is so overwhelming that his opponents (who barely escape with their lives) assume that using it must have killed him. Which honestly is so much fun because they are going to shit their pants when they set eyes on him again.
Thank you again so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode! -
Thank you so much to Andy for commissioning this episode!
In these chapters we get a little more background on what happened with the Aurelius patriarch, although not as much detail as I would have preferred. This also makes it difficult to stomach the deal that Eithan makes with Reigan Shen to throw the matches, although I'm hoping it will result in revenge eventually.
Also there's something amazing happening with Lindon being in command of the Akura team. We're watching Lindon blossom as a leader and gain a certain measure of confidence that he hasn't had until now. I'm so excited!
Thank you all for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode! -
THank you very much to Andrew for commissioning this episode!
These are the chapters in which Lindon is assigned to head up the Akura clan's team fighting against the coming cults, and he grows immediately obsessed with points to a degree that has everyone around him looking askance. I'm absolutely delighted with this turn of events, and I can't wait to see if Pride suddenly starts respecting him or what.
Not likely.

Thank you to Andrew for commissioning this episode!
I'm so sorry about the sound quality in this episode, but I was having a problem with Garageband and had to rip the audio from the Crowdcast session. Hopefully it's not too too terrible.
I'm so sad in this section because this is when Lindon has to say goodbye to his buddies due to the fact that he's the only one who didn't make it to the last stage. It's insult to injury and I felt so terrible for him and all I can hope is that this all proves to be worth it.
Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode! -
Thank you very much to Andrew for commissioning this episode!
In these chapters, Lindon and Yerin go on their first date, and it's everything I ever wanted. -
Thank you so much to Andrew for commissioning this episode!
So we're finally getting some people pull out all the stops, and the one I'm OF COURSE most interested in is Eithan because damn but he makes quick work of this bitch and it's truly so fucking satisfying. DAYUM.
I can't believe I have to wait like 3 weeks before I get to record on the next one! D: -
Thank you to Andy for commissioning this episode!
I don't know why it didn't really register in the finale of the previous book that we still didn't have an Uncrowned champion, but I guess I was just so distracted by all the other great stuff going on that I failed to notice. This section we're getting to see the conversation with all the Monarchs that Lindon might not have gotten to go to at all if not for Northstrider taking an interest in...Dross.
Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode! -
Thank you very much to Andrew for commissioning this episode!
I'm so delighted by these chapters, guys. I'm not getting into much in the text because I'm trying to get these all posted by vacation, but damn getting to see Lindon and Yerin face off is so good. SO GOOD.
Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode! -
Thank you again to Andy for commissioning this episode!
So I've decided to slow down my reading for the remainder of the coverage because I'm always running behind when I record, and in accordance with that I'm only covering two chapters of this last section. And as it turns out, it was the right decision.
Because holy shit there's a lot to talk about. Yerin and Lindon are going to fight and I am SO EXCITED. And mad. But mostly excited.
Thanks for listening, and I will see you again shortly with the finale of this book! -
Thank you very much to Andy for commissioning this episode!
I'm almost done with this book and I am absolutely not ready.
This section we get an absolutely devastating sequence where Lindon manages to pull an OG Blackflame out of his madness using his friend Little Blue. The elation he feels at doing a bit of good is one of the most pure senses of success he's ever experienced.
And the Sophara kills the guy anyway.
It's brutal, you guys. I wasn't ready.
Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode! -
Thank you very much to Andy for commissioning this episode!
So in this section we see Lindon reveal a little more about himself than I gave him credit for, and after kind of showing his hand he winds up rocketing up to number 10 and getting noticed. Yerin comes in right after him, and I just have to say that I'm so delighted there's a way that they can start off competing with one another without actually fighting.
Then we get the Hunger Games version of the Tournament that I expected from the start, and it turns out that they're going to be fighting over these weird crowns. And who shows up? You know who. And she's pissed and vicious and I'm askeered.
Thank you very much for listening and I will see you again soon with a new episode! -
Thank you to Andy for commissioning this episode!
In this section we wind up at the Ninecloud Empire for the tournament and it's a close thing for Yerin & Co. regarding their arrival in time to qualify. I'm shocked at how cavalier everyone is regarding the attacks on the way to the competition, and I keep questioning why the damn dragons are even allowed in the tournament. HOW IS THIS ALLOWED???
Also, we get to see the start of Round 1 and it's very different than what I was expecting. It's more structured and methodical than I thought, although I kind of like it.
Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode! -
Thank you Andrew for commissioning this episode!
I gotta say, I really love how this author has chosen to address the fact that Lindon never received official combat training. This is actually an elegant way to incorporate that into the story in a natural way that accounts for the fact that there are some things that grit and determination are no substitute for, as much as we might like to pretend formal education doesn't matter.
Also, I'm really interested in seeing the way that Eithan is guiding Yerin, because he's spent so much time and energy on Lindon that I really don't know what's in store for her.
Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode! -
Thank you ever so much to Andrew for commissioning this episode!
To start off this new book, we sort of pick up where the previous book left off in its epilogue, by rejoining Lindon's sister and Orthos. It turns out that there's something fucked up going on in Sacred Valley that seems to be sapping people's power away. Whaaaa?
Meanwhile, there's a whole thing with Ozriel's Scythe and the fact that Makiel has been attempting to create a comparable weapon, resulting in a bunch of prototypes that have been put in storage. Except that someone stole them, and she seems a little too confident that she can upgrade their functionality. I don't like it.
Also, Lindon and the Akura family's underlords are NOT getting along.
Thanks for listening! See you next week! -
Thank you to Andy for commissioning this episode!
Oh man this is an upsetting ending, y'all. I mean, all my friends made it out and managed to advance and got into the Uncrowned King tournament...but I'm devastated that Kiro died and that Lindon is going to be separated from Yerin for the duration of the lead-up to the competition. And I'm mad at Charity over this. I am just ANNOYED. AT EVERYTHING.
Okay that's it for now, see you soon with a new episode! -
Thank you very much to Andy for commissioning this episode for me!
In these chapters, we've got the fight inside the vault, and shit is really going down in a way that leaves me baffled as to how our crew is going to be able to move forward and advance. When in the hell are they going to be able to do that???
They're right on the edge, though, and that makes this confrontation really tense. I just hate Daji so much and hope he dies, and meanwhile his brother seems like such a good egg...just tell me he's gonna be okay!
Thanks for listening, and I will see you all again soon with a new episode! -
Thank you very much to Andrew for commissioning this episode!
In these chapters of Underlord, we get to see some of the potential that Dross holds which Lindon hadn't even considered. Soulsmiths use constructs called Drudges that help them make sense of the ingredients they use and predict interactions, and it looks like Dross could potentially serve that function for Lindon. How cool is that?
Also, we find out that Charity is very specifically pitting the Seishens against our crew in a much more personal way (or so it seems to me) than I thought she was willing to stoop to. I deeply resent the fact that she's in there listening openly, and they allow her to because they trust her, and then she just flies off and narcs on them. Fuck you, Charity.
Thanks so much for listening to this episode, and I will see you soon with more! -
Thank you to Andy for commissioning this episode!
I'm really starting to get concerned about how good this author is at introducing new characters that are here to fight Lindon, and then making me LIKE them so I don't even really want them to lose. Like, that's just kinda rude, you know?
Also, I am NOT please at the injury that Yerin has taken. At all. I know she's likely going to be fine, but I swear to god I love her so much and I will RIOT if she dies. DO YOU HEAR ME???
Thanks for listening! - Visa fler
