Highgate Wood rose to prominence in the early 1970s, propelled by the triple threat of dynamic front man Sean Underwood, wunderkind guitarist Peter Van Conklin, and keyboardist Corrine Kennedy.
Dancing a line between artsy prog rock and mainstream melodics, they had a string of hit albums before suddenly disbanding in 1975 when a studio fire resulted in Corrine’s death and Peter’s descent into madness.
Sean Underwood went on to have a successful solo career before committing suicide in the early 90s.
Years later, Patti, the daughter of Highgage Wood guitarist Peter Van Conklin, finds herself haunted—both by Sean’s death and possibly by the ghost of Corrine Kennedy. Fearing she may be falling down the same mad rabbit hole as her father, she sets out to discover the truth of the fateful night that Highgate Wood self-destructed. -

Before Detroit gave the world Motown, techno, and hip-hop, it gave the world something harder to name: a feeling that music made in basements and backrooms and borrowed spaces could become the soundtrack to an entire generation's life. That is the story Living for the City is here to tell, and nobody alive is better equipped to tell it than Hanif Abdurraqib.
MacArthur Fellow. New York Times bestselling author. The most gifted writer working at the intersection of music, memory, and American identity today. Hanif brings his singular voice to a new video podcast series that goes inside the streets, venues, and neighborhoods where iconic sounds are born, talking with the artists, DJs, producers, and community architects who built these movements from the ground up.
Season One is Detroit. Eight episodes. The full arc of how one city became the unlikely origin point for some of the most influential music ever made, told by the people who were actually there, and the writer who understands better than anyone what it meant.
This is not a music history lesson. This is a front-row seat to the moments that mattered.
Living for the City premieres May 13th, with new episodes dropping weekly. Subscribe now on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts.

Deep house and melodic techno from Cler Lever.
In 2007, Cler was the worthy winner of Babycream's DJ competition following which she secured the opening set at Creamfields that year, warming up for Mark Ronson and becoming the first female DJ in history to play on the main stage. As well as playing at some of the best nights in the county alongside the likes of Frank Lorber, Sebo K and Felix Da Housecat Cler started her own night Rhumba, bringing some of the best DJs and producers to Liverpool for the first time including Patrice Baumel, Ben Klock, Phil Kieran and Super Flu.
“CREAM OF THE CROP Creamfields 2007 saw its first female DJ play the mainstage in the form of spinmeister Cler Lever. Martin Vovk caught up with her at the festival, and we give the 4Talent verdict on Creamfields '07 'Opening the stage this year, though, is Cler Lever, whose early set of chilled progressive house serves as a reminder of the festival's origins as well indicating its commitment to new talent.” Channel 4 Talent
"The standard of the competition this year was outstanding," said panellist Andy Mac. "All six finalists were mindblowingly good. Cler is a deserved winner, especially in light of such strong competition. Her confidence shone through in the final, and rocking the dance floor obviously comes naturally to her." Andy Mac, Cream -
