Nashville-based singer and songwriter, Sasha Alex Sloan came by to discuss her brand new album “Me Again”. Sasha was born and raised in Boston and discovered a passion for music at a young age, teaching herself piano at just five years old. A born writer, Sasha began to pen original songs at just 10 and went on to hone her craft at Berklee College of Music. While in her first year of college, Sasha had a post go mega-viral on Reddit, reaching the front page within 24 hours. Breaking Reddit’s cardinal rule, Sasha took the opportunity to promote her Soundcloud in the post’s comments and just two weeks later she received an email from Warner Chappell wanting to sign her. Suddenly, Sasha was moving across the country to begin songwriting for some of the biggest names in pop (i.e. Charli XCX, Camila Cabello, Kygo). It wasn’t until Sasha wrote a song she couldn’t bear to give away that she debuted as a solo artist in 2017. Since then, Sasha has released three EPs, two studio albums, and has written hundreds of songs for various artists. In 2020, Sasha relocated from LA to Nashville along with her now-husband, producer King Henry, and their dogs. Stephen Sanchez is an American singer-songwriter based in New York City. Stephen fell in love with music as a child, listening to his grandfather’s records from artists like Frank Sinatra, The Platters, Nat King Cole, and The Ink Spots. He began playing guitar shortly after and then at 14, when he felt an emotion he didn’t know hot convey, he wrote a song about it. Stephen then began posting covers to YouTube and TikTok and his videos on the latter gained traction. In June 2020, Sanchez posted a cover of Cage the Elephant's "Cigarette Daydreams" on TikTok that became very popular. Slowly, he built an audience and by 2020 had over 100,000 followers. Stephen’s breakthrough came with his 2021 single “Until I Found You,” which even landed him a gig singing at Sofia Richie-Grainge’s wedding. In 2023, Stephen released his debut album “Angel Face” and embarked on a headlining tour. This year, he has released the deluxe version of his album along with a new single titled “Baby Blue Bathing Suit” for the Disney+ Beach Boys documentary. Wallows came by to talk about their new album "Model", She's an actress and Dylan getting back into acting!
Wallows are an American alternative rock band based in Los Angeles composed of Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters, and Cole Preston. The three boys met as kids and formed the band in 2011, going by the name “Feaver” and later “The Narwhals”. The band began releasing songs independently in April 2017 under the name Wallows, after Dylan gained fame on Netflix’s hit series “13 Reasons Why.” Their debut album “Nothing Happens” came in 2019 after several singles. Their third, forthcoming album “Model” is expected to drop on May 24, 2024. It’s been preceded by the singles “Your Apartment”, “Calling After Me”, and “Bad Dream”. Huddy, born Chase Hudson, grew to prominence in the early days of TikTok, co-founding the infamous Hype House and starring in the Netflix series of the same name. K.Flay (28:00) is a Grammy-nominated American singer and songwriter. K.Flay got her start in music as a freshman at Stanford University where she studied psychology and sociology. She began producing music on her laptop and quickly caught the attention of RCA Records. K.Flay was only signed to RCA for a year before realizing her creative vision differed from her labels. She went on to release her debut album “Life As A Dog” independently in 2014. Since then, K.Flay has released multiple EPs and albums to critical acclaim and even put together a book of letters her fans had written to her while on tour. She also come out as queer and publicly dated another musician, Miya Folick, in 2021. In 2022, K.Flay spontaneously lost her hearing in her right ear and had to grapple with accepting her new reality. The anger, anxiety, and depression that came out of the experience culminated in K.Flay’s fifth studio album “Mono” (2023). Bbno$, aka Alexander Gumuchian, is a Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is best known for his 2019 single, "Lalala", which peaked at number ten on the Canadian Hot 100, as well as his multiple collaborations with American rapper Yung Gravy. Alex swam competitively in high school with plans to pursue a professional career in swimming however a devastating back injury ended his pursuit. His newfound free time allowed Alex to dabble in music production with a group of friends. After a couple years of honing his skill, Alex began posting original raps on SoundCloud under the name “bbnomula” where he quickly gained a following. Alex’s big break came when Jackson Yee, a famous Chinese dancer, posted a video dancing to Alex’s song “Yoyo Tokyo.” Thanks to Yee, Alex gained popularity in China, where he sold out his first few "back-to-back" headlining tours. The following year, Alex began working with Yung Gravy and together released the EP “Baby Gravy.” Since 2017, two more “Baby Gravy” collaboration albums have been released. Ethan Bortnick (26:00) may only be 23 years old but his career has spanned more than a decade. After discovering he had perfect pitch at the age of 3, Ethan found he could perfectly replicate complicated melodies on his toy piano just by ear. When Ethan was 10, he set the world record for being the youngest headlining performer to tour. He was also the youngest artist featured on the 2010 recording of “We Are The World” alongside others like Justin Bieber and Celine Dion. After a decade of performing around the world as a pianist, the pandemic halted his ability to tour. Stuck at home, Ethan found himself re-examining his sound and identity as an artist.
