I've been looking forward to having Austin on for a while and our chat tonight did not disappoint! I picked Austin's brain on his experience fishing the Head2Head Walleye tournaments over the last couple of years in Wisconsin, which then leads us into talking about and reliving our time in Door County for the annual HAWGUST bite this year. Austin and I both represent the Lund Boats brand, so we also delve into some boat chat and future plans for our rigs this next season. Awesome podcast and I look forward to talking to Austin again when we are both in Green Bay next spring!

Today we have two returning guests to the podcast! My buddies Aaron Miklaszewicz & Cody Solberg, to talk about our takes on the HAWGUST bite in northern Door County on the Bay of Green Bay. Living in one of the best small towns in America to catch big Great Lakes Walleyes, Aaron Miklaszewicz has it made. Oconto, WI and the west shore of Green Bay offers just about everything an angler could ask for. Aaron is no stranger to catching big Walleyes, as he gets to enjoy it year round only five minutes from home. Green Bay not only puts out massive Walleyes, Muskies, and Smallmouth though - it can also be known for it's massive Drum, which Aaron is also no stranger to enjoying.

Today we sit down with Josh Pladies, a buddy of mine and owner of Clutch Swimbait Co. Josh started Clutch to fill an internal need to always be tweaking and tinkering with baits, and has grown into an absolute passion. Josh focuses on bait design from an engineering perspective in lieu of an artistic standpoint allow for his baits to be designed around performance and fish catching ability. Too many swimbait companies anymore are trying to make a bait that will simply look cool on a pegboard. Josh designs baits to be fish catchers first and foremost, and will not cut corners or take the easy way out when it comes to bait design. Performance is everything, and it shows in the products they build. This conversation spans everything from Josh's beginnings, to an in-depth chat about swimbait fishing, covering the gear you need, and much more. It has been a fun ride watching Josh's business explode over the last year or two-from Elite Series pros fishing his baits, to viral TikTok videos, and I'm happy to have him on the show.

A legend in his own right, KDWPT District Fisheries Biologist Craig Johnson has played an integral part in Kansas fisheries all across the state. He's been in the game for 30 years now, and have him (as well as many others), to thank for the Walleyes you catch in Kansas. During the walleye spawn, Craig runs a 6 person crew tasked with collecting female broodfish to obtain eggs for statewide saugeye production. This crew is composed of fellow fish biologists, fish supervisors, wildlife biologists, public land managers, and seasonal employees. Walleyes are the main topic of conversation today, with some other topics sprinkled in. I'm so excited to have Craig on this podcast, and certainly will not be the last time we talk!

Max Wilson is one of the hottest names in Professional Walleye Fishing. Max had one of the best seasons ever recorded in 2018, as he became the youngest to win the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour Championship (NWT). Shortly after that he became one of the youngest to win the coveted Masters Walleye Circuit Team (MWC) of the Year award. Fast forward to 2019 and he kept that streak going with numerous Top 10 finishes as well as securing back to back Masters Walleye Circuit Team of the Year for 2019. Max has also earned his way into the United States Predator Fishing Team as the team Captain and Angler. Pair that with his back to back All American team selections and his work in growing the USA Predator Team he is quickly putting together a very impressive resume at such a young age. Not to mention being one of the most efficient Walleye anglers on LIVESCOPE (if not the best!) as well as a USMC veteran. Enjoy the episode, I'm already looking forward to the next chat!
