Lucy, a writer and producer, has a non-verbal pre-teen daughter and is a school governor at a setting for young people with severe cognitive disabilities. She is keen to explore how progressive the dating scene is in 2022.

    Celia Hutchison, the editor, has worked for many years as a sound engineer on network radio for the BBC. She has worked on everything from radio drama (including the Archers) to live music for 6 Music. She particularly enjoyed the variety of people she met and is delighted to join the WOULD LIKE TO MEET team.

  • Episode 5 - It's a family affair
    What if you do find "the one"? Many people can't wait to start a family once they settle down. Ngozi hasn't decided if she wants children, so she is fascinated to talk to Laurence and Nicola about their experiences raising children as disabled people. Why is there very little portrayal of disabled people as wives, husbands, mums and dads? Does this affect your mindset as you start to date?

    A few years ago, Ngozi dated a man who self-identified as a "Devotee" (a non-disabled person specifically physically attracted to partners with disabilities). She didn't know what this was at the time, and he was a great guy, but is there a darker side to people who see the disability and not the person? Ngozi considers whether she would try to find a date through that scene again.

  • Join us for a new six-part radio series produced by Documental productions, where comedian, writer and wheelchair-user Ngozi Ugochukwu will go on a quest to find love in a (sort-of) post-pandemic world.

    On the way, Ngozi meets some amazing individuals with disabilities to hear their love stories and explore some of the currents in contemporary dating for people with disabilities, visible or otherwise.
