  • Playwrite, director, writer, and digital editor/consultant Serena Norr is no stranger to story or the spoken word. But when it came time to write her own story for SPARK, Serena was surprised to find an invisible thread that helped her stitch it all together. Today we’re talking about the magic that happens when you don’t prescribe an outcome to a creative process and how little steps can unveil big revelations.

In July (2024) SPARK, a transformative theatrical experience of personal stories, movement, and soul-stirring music created and produced by Tami, hit the stage and sold out shows. Told through the voices of 10 women, SPARK delves into themes of identity, loss, love, and growth. It reveals true life-changing moments were divine intervention or instinct takes control, leading to a spark that nurtures the spirit and lights the path ahead.

  • There are no coincidences. After we wrapped last season and took SPARK to the Bethany Arts Community for its live debut, it was clear that for all of us involved, the experience changed us forever, and a new Sisterhood was born. Would there be another run? There was an outpouring of support, but the Bethany was booked until spring. Then as luck would have it, in late September, when a friend heard of Tami’s search to find a new venue for SPARK, she invited her to meet 5ivefingaz, a well-know graffiti artist and muralist. BOOM! The synchronicity of that meeting was electric, and SPARK will have a weekend of performances at Art Monster Studio, 5ive’s personal studio and performance venue. He joins Tami and Becki for this episode where you’ll hear first hand how divine intervention has played a big role in his life growing up, and finding his way to his identity as an artist. He’s also the creator of LOVE MORE THAN EVER, an art movement that aims to end hate and spread messages of love and acceptance, and he spends time cultivating young and emerging artists, among other creative endeavors. Hear about 5ive’s journey, his very own SPARK moments, and just how perfect his studio is for our next run of shows in November!

Until SPARK. In this episode Tami & Becki are talking with Lynne Barasch, co-musical director for SPARK and one of the women who shares a monologue in the show. It’s a two sided interview giving you a behind-the-scenes look at the original music of SPARK and also a look into Lynne’s experience sharing a story she had never previously put into words.

  • What does it mean to have a SPARK infiltrate your life? That’s what we’re exploring in Season 4 of Woo Woo in the Real World. This season Becki & Tami are talking to the women of SPARK to unpack the experience but before they get going, they talk about the SPARK experiences that have been shaping their year. Then they welcome the Director of SPARK, Beth Spitalny to join their conversation. We know that sharing stories can be healing. But how you refine a story for the stage so that it’s tight, timely and compelling while holding onto the essence and authenticity is a real art. Hear how Beth managed to do just that. Beth came to the SPARK project in a typical woo woo, let it all flow kind of way. Hear all about that, her SPARK story, and insights on her experience with the show in today’s episode. <3<3<3 SPARK is hitting the stage one more time in 2024 November 1, 2, and 3. • In this episode, we dive deeper into what it’s like to truly live your life with no rules, just freedom. We explore answers to questions like what if you allowed curiosity and play to take over? What if all stress and pressure didn’t exist and you were allowed to flow with ease, delight, joy and rest?

Our guest, artist Tricia Caracappa reflects how painting for her is all of that from the moment she steps in front of a blank canvas, and that an intoxicating dance unfolds. But it wasn’t always like that for her - she takes us on her journey - where as a young college graduate she turned down getting her masters degree for Architecture to get a job (like all her friends were doing), and started her career in the corporate finance world. She says, “she liked math and was good at it” but she wasn’t really consciously choosing that path. Yet, she became successful, although not fulfilled. Tricia reveals how a lot of soul work led her to becoming an interior designer, and ultimately an artist. She shares that once she stopped all the people pleasing, and remembered who she was, that she wanted to live her life more authentically…and joyfully – even if it meant making some gut-wrenching decisions and choices to alter the course of her life.

As someone who lives with the intention to cultivate joy, she takes us into her world on how that actually happens and how the early lessons also serve her today. It’s an inspiring and uplifting story – we hope it inspires you to explore what your heart wants you to know, and perhaps even take a step into uncharted territory leading you to your more authentic self!

    Enjoy.

  • There are times in life we experience what our guest, Perdita Finn, calls a “narrowing” - when suddenly something happens and we have very limited options or directions to go in. One of those times for Perdita was when her daughter became seriously ill. She and her husband spent all their money going down a rabbit hole to help get her better, and then lost their jobs and nearly lost everything. “In those moments, you learn about prayer,” she shares. Perdita had been having profound spiritual experiences her whole life, but she had a difficult childhood with narcissistic, atheist parents so she was never allowed to fully embrace her gifts.

This episode features one of the most fascinating, jaw-dropping conversations we’ve had yet, where we tackle a topic we haven’t covered: getting to know the dead. “What if we could live in a world where the guidance of those who were gone was available, right at our fingertips?” That’s the question on the dust cover of “Take Back The Magic: Conversations with the Unseen World,” written by our guest, Perdita Finn.

“When you work with the dead,” Finn says, “you begin to touch what I call ‘the long story of our souls.’

Check out the full conversation with Perdita as she shares incredible insights on how we can call on those who have gone before us to help with everyday life.

We had a hard time ending the conversation, because we could literally listen to Perdita, her stories and her wisdom for days! Let us know what you think.

Perdita Finn is an author whose extensive studies with zen masters, priests, rabbis, shamans, and healers have informed her writing and work as teacher of the popular workshop, “Getting to Know the Dead,” in which participants are empowered to activate the magic in their own lives with the help of their ancestors.

  • It’s easy, and even a little fun, to talk about life when it’s firing on all cylinders. When you’re in alignment and things just flow. But what does it look like when the machine of your life starts to sputter, when you can’t see how all the pieces of your life make sense together, and when you feel lost?

Everyone is invited to cross the transformational threshold into the second half of life but not everyone does. It’s a hard journey and involves a dark night of the soul.

Today’s guest, Wellness Coach, singer and badass drummer, Pam Hervey navigated that journey and is on the other side to tell the tale. We’re talking about how she was able to hold the tension in the limbo land of liminal space where she knew she was being called to do more but had no idea what that was.

This is an episode about the interplay between our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness and how honoring all the parts of who we are brings us joy that then ripples out into the world.

  • How can astrology invite us into the world of sacredness? And how can it can steer us back to sanity? That’s what we’re talking about with today’s guest, Demitra Vassiliadis, a spiritual astrologer, who believes that we’re all here by divine design. Demitra is an expert in exploring the birth chart as a sacred blueprint to the most natural unfolding of our development and unique potential. She says, “birth charts are a map of gorgeous potential that we came here to embody as we give our shining gifts to the waiting world.”

She’s helped thousands of people decipher their birth chart and unlock the cosmic map that describes them, their talents and abilities they’ve been given to accomplish on their sacred mission. We all have a role to play and a responsibility to create a culture that we want to live in. We bet that by the end of this episode you’ll be saying, “I am a sacred being sent by the universe with unrepeatable gifts to do only what I can do.” This interview is so inspiring and clarifying.

    Let’s get after it!!

Demitra will be appearing at The Soulful Lounge on February 22nd with holistic nutritionist Meredith Geller for a fascinating workshop on how astrology and nutrition are interconnected. They will share with us how we can harness the power of the planets, stars, and food to optimize vitality, and we will also have a very special New Moon Ceremony together.

  • Season 3 is here and we’ve got new cover art and new intro music, which happens to be a section of our Invocation of Joy that you can download in full with a guided meditation for FREE on our website: woowoointherealworld.com

Woo Woo in The Real World is about coaxing our soul into embodied action and cultivating joy. This could be through working with a healer, performing a ritual, reading tarot, consulting an astrologer, communing with nature, writing a song, writing a one-woman show, or just slowing down and taking a bath! The ways we woo are as varied as the humans on the earth and how we’re transformed by those experiences and integrate them into the real world is as unique as a fingerprint.

This season we’re featuring the stories of real people, living in this very real world, and how they're wooing their soul into embodied action and cultivating joy. It's our hope that as you listen or watch you'll find inspiration, insight and mostly, yourself.

  • Embracing Change: Just as we welcome in the beautiful new season of Fall, we give you our season 2 wrap-up where we explored rituals and how they can help us stay present, activate our intentions, and shift our energy or mindset. So many powerful nuggets shared in equally powerful and wide-ranging conversations. Come to think of it, the seasons have their rituals as well. Here in the Northeast, the leaves are dropping from the trees… but we have learned to trust the process. We know that through this period of change, rest and hibernation, Spring renewal will come. Happy Autumn Equinox - what do you need to drop in order to make way for your authentic self to emerge?

  • What is shamanism and how does one become a shamanic healer? On today’s show we’re getting a first hand look at the soul evolution of Eve Kerwin, a shamanic healer and spiritual channel and her journey to awakening her spiritual gifts.

This might sound like an ethereal experience but it’s really grounded in the body and earth, the final element we are exploring in this season on rituals. We’re sharing some grounding rituals you can do in your own backyard, talking about why sacred sites around the world feel so charged, and how the food that we eat all relate to earth rituals.

This isn’t just about burning stuff - though we’re definitely doing that - it’s also about our relationship with fire energy as it lives in our body. • If you’re not a particularly Woo Woo person but you are a curious person, you’re in the same boat as our guest today, Nina Curley.

Nina wasn’t too sure about the book she had been given as a gift; “Moon Bath: Bathing Rituals + Recipes for Relaxation + Vitality,” by Dakota Hills & Sierra Brashear. But she was sure that she had to find a better way to face the winter blues. So she suspend her judgements and took the plunge!

Today we’re getting an inside look at how ritual bathing lead to the subtle shifts that helped Nina completely change her attitude toward a season that she had previously found very difficult.

Is it scientific or is it spiritual? When it works, does it even make a difference? And how do you know that it’s working? We’re talking about it all today and so much more.

We hope you love this conversation as much as we did. It literally flowed like water, which is why this one is a little longer than usual!

Join us in the deep end, the temperature is great!

  • It doesn’t matter if you're singing or speaking, “The voice is the soul’s dynamic life urge for truthful expression,” says today’s guest Maryn Azoff.

Maryn is a singer, vocal transformation coach, spirit lifter, soul emancipator, and fear crusher. She’s on a mission to connect people with their vocal power and runs Vocal Transformation retreats and workshops all over the world. Today we’re talking about how the chanting rituals embedded in the Vocal Transformation model connect people to the power of their voice in all of the areas we use it. In this episode we’re specifically looking at rituals through the element of air, the very thing we breathe and the thing that’s necessary for us to vocalize in anyway. • Fellow Woo’ers……we hardly have words for what happened during this kick-off episode for Season 2. Our plan was to talk about rituals, what they are, and what they do for us. We did that. And then, we wanted to walk through an example of how easy it is to start your own ritual practice. What happened from that point forward….let’s just say, it was out of our hands! As Becki says at one point in the show after she got over her tears and stunned silence, “This is the most real time woo-woo shit we’ve ever done in a show!”

Grateful doesn’t even begin to describe how we felt after this moving experience. Bottom line: rituals work and this episode is real time, unplanned proof.

We hope you enjoy this “as real as it gets” episode!
