  • *Sensitive Ears Alert! Somewhere in here I drop an f bomb.. I couldn't help myself.. because we find our favorite ocean sailor DONE with his global circumnavigation!!!
    He did it y'all!!

In our conversation, recorded just the day after stepping back on land in Portsmouth, England, where he started racing all those months ago, Andrew reflects on what it really has meant to do this year at sea, away from loved ones, completely outside of normal life, sharing about it all in the way that only he can.
    Super interesting and inspiring -

Andrew answers lots of great questions - about bioluminescence, what it's like to travel through the Panama Canal, and more!
He also shares deeply about his own life-changing experience, as well what it's been like to witness his partner Monique's life-changing year while he's been at sea.

These conversations are always inspiring. This one, even more so.

  • What will life after a year at sea be like for our favorite ocean sailor?

With just 3 races left out of 16, there's a lot of curiosity around this question.. Andrew brings his A game in addressing that curiosity.

Also, we discuss how this past race was the one where they lost their wind instruments – and also came in third! Coincidence?

Tune in for a fascinating conversation around these topics, and more.

Andrew has a request that he brings into our conversation today:
"Question --- does anyone have excess aeroplan points or vouchers or a desire to help me secure a one way ticket on July 31 or August 1? Preferred departure airports are Gatwick (LGW) or Heathrow (LHR) and arrival to YUL or YYZ.
    Thanks for your support."

This one's split into several segments for your viewing pleasure!

    Deets:
Today Andrew responds to some great questions, thank you Eirik, Angele and Karen!

    Questions include:
~ "What's one thing that people who have NOT been on a boat in a race like this, will never quite understand (unless they do it themselves)? I feel like watching you I intellectually feel what it most be like and live through you, but I'm sure there are 100 layers between that and the real thing."

~ "What food (that you aren’t able to access in the moment) do you miss the most while out at sea?"

~ "What does it feel like when you are at the halfway mark? Meaning in the ocean with no land at all just the sea : knowing it is just really you , the crew , the boat and the ocean. No rescue easily."

~ "How do you not vomit with some of these waves? I feel like the boat can really pitch."

~ "Celebrating our friend Kirsten.. what would your last message to the world be?"

~ "Do you ever just crave a walk?"

    ~ "What is apparent wind?"

    Enjoy!!

~ "What has the food in these cities you’ve been in like?"

~ "I notice, even after being on a 24 hour sail, the first good meal ashore somehow tastes better than anything I’ve ever had before. It’s a strange phenomenon. Have you experienced anything like that during the trip?"

Today Andrew answers some great questions - thank you Karen, Carolyn, Leslie, Monique, Olga, Eirik, Karin, and Ellie!

    Questions include:
~ "How is embracing new people changing the dynamics/communication? Seems like you would just get used to one way of doing things and then shift again with new crew."

~ "Can you explain what happens under the different types of clouds? Did you head for the clouds or try to avoid them!? (Seems like it could be an approach to life!)"

~ "What edges have you teetered on? What showed up next?"

~ "What most challenged you on this leg and how did you grow from it?"
~ "In what ways has this experience changed you already?"
~ "Are you starting to think about life after the race – how do you plan to integrate back into normal life?"

~ "Has Andrew's understanding of being safe (either physically or emotionally or both) shifted in any way as a result of the sailing experience. Totally asking from a terrified-of-any-large-body-of-water person's point of view :)"

~ "What was something you've seen/experienced that was the same across all the legs so far, and what was different/more dynamic each time?"
~ "What's been your lowest moment so far?"
~ "Are there any kinks that happened as a team, that are now smooth? If so – how did you collectively do that?"
~ "How is your BODY dealing with all of this?"

~ "On your best and most fulfilling days, what is happening, how are you feeling, and what are the thoughts going on in your mind? On the tougher days, what's happening, how are you feeling, and what are the thoughts?"

~ "What would you love to share with teens and young adults about the qualities or thinking that have most contributed to your persistence and resilience on your journey?"

~ "There's like zero privacy on the boat! How do you handle that?"

Today’s is an inspiring and thoughtful conversation with our favorite ocean sailor, whose racing journey from Uruguay to South Africa... kinda didn’t go as planned.

As Andrew shares in the Climb Aboard Andrew’s Adventure Facebook group, “Mother nature does what she does... Assigning responsibility to mother nature is pointless.
“In the end, this is just an intense personal learning opportunity.”

We also get to hear about..
    ~ Boat restrooms
~ Andrew’s progress in his personal quest to not dread cooking for the crew
