    Season 25, Episode 1
    Andy Dick

You probably know Andy Dick from the “The Ben Stiller Show” or “NewsRadio.” But he’s also famous for a very long history of harassing, groping, licking, and punching people, as well as whipping *it out in public. He has struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, but that’s no excuse for his behavior. What a creep.

    Season 24, Episode 10
The True Crime Story Behind “The Natural”

The Eddie Waitkus shooting is a notable event in baseball history. It occurred in 1949 when the popular first baseman (and WW2 hero) for the Philadelphia Phillies was shot by an obsessed fan named Ruth Steinhagen. The incident was a shocking reminder of the dangers of celebrity obsession. Also, it inspired Bernard Malamud's novel The Natural, which was later adapted into a popular film starring Robert Redford (who played a 19-year-old when he was 47 at the time!)

    Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld was a fashion designer best known for heading Chanel for over 30 years. He was one of the first designers to channel their fashion leadership into becoming a public figure. He developed this image as “the Kaiser,” a too-cool snob with dark sunglasses, fingerless gloves, and a ponytail that got him almost as much attention as his designs for Chanel.
Sure, he was a fashion icon, but our man Karl was also fatphobic, racist, and misogynistic. What a creep.

The Creepy History of the “Desperate Housewives”

"Desperate Housewives" was a famous American TV series from 2004 to 2012 set in Wisteria Lane, a seemingly perfect suburb. The show followed the lives of women and their families, uncovering secrets, scandals, and mysteries. The main characters included Susan Mayer, Lynette Scavo, Bree Van de Kamp, Gabrielle Solis, and Edie Britt, each with their unique romance, betrayal, and drama storylines. The biggest drama, however, was behind the scenes with accusations of racism, sexism, harassment, workplace abuse, bullying, and general assholery. Let’s dive in!

    Season 24, Episode 7
    Diane Downs

Diane Downs gained infamy for the 1983 shooting of her three children, one of whom died, in Springfield, Oregon. The case became highly publicized due to the shocking nature of the crime and the subsequent investigation and trial. On May 19, 1983, Diane Downs drove her children to a rural road and shot them at close range. She then drove VERY SLOWLY to a hospital, claiming that a “bushy-haired stranger” had shot her and her children during a carjacking attempt. However, inconsistencies in her story and evidence led investigators to suspect her involvement in the crime. Anne Rule’s book Small Sacrifices was turned into a TV movie starring Farah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal that garnered huge ratings.

With the latest news of an insanely unusual news cycle that, unfortunately, includes Kate Middleton being diagnosed with cancer, we decided to speak to supreme royal expert and friend of the pod Kristen Meinzer of the Daily Fail podcast to talk about what the heck is going on with the House of Windsor. With baffling (or complete lack of?) strategic communications, a frighteningly low number of royals who can pinch-hit while King Charles is convalescing, and novice photoshopping--can this get any weirder?

  • What a Creep“Coyote V. Acme Controversy”
    Season 24, Episode 4

In February 1980, The New Yorker magazine published a satire called "Coyote V. Acme" written by Ian Frazier. The story was about Wile E. Coyote suing Acme, the company that supplied him with the equipment he used to try and catch the Road Runner, for all his injuries over the years.

In 1987, the success of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" led to the combination of animation and live actors in this story. However, it wasn't until the 2020s that Warner Brothers hired writer Samy Burch and director Dave Green to bring the project to life. The film was completed in 2022, but now the parent company refuses to release it and instead writes it off for tax purposes.

Despite considering other outlets, the $75 million price tag makes it unlikely that Warner Brothers will negotiate another deal. The film's controversy-causing release has caused a media storm. For once, we have no trigger warnings!

Libs of TikTok is a far-right social media account run by Chaya Raichik. Basically, its whole schtick is adding hateful commentary to content created by left-wing and LGBTQ+ people on social media platforms.
Libs of TikTok has been blamed for sparking bomb threats, property damage, shooting threats, written and verbal harassment, and other forms of violence against individuals, hospitals, and schools across the country. The content posted on that account is funneled directly into Fox News, The Federalist, and NewsMax to generate more outrage and stoke hatred toward the gay and transgender community.

Ann Woodward and the Curse of the Woodward Family

On October 30, 1955, William “Billy” Woodward was shot in the home he shared with his wife Ann. She told the police it was a case of mistaken identity as both carried guns to bed due to a recent spate of robberies in their town of Oyster Bay, New York. Did she kill her philandering spouse, who vocalized how much he had grown to despise her?

Ann’s eventual acquittal in the case was a local Long Island scandal until Truman Capote (who had only met her once and instantly disliked her) told a scandalized (and fictionalized) version in 1975’s Answered Prayers which insinuated Ann had murdered Billy and his mother’s money bought her out of any criminal indictments. (We talked about him last September!)So, which is true? And what brought a small-town girl like Angeline Lucille Crowell to the top of cafe society to a sad, lonely end?

  • What a Creep
    Season 23, Episode 5
    Ye/Varg Vikernes/Burzum

Kanye West “Ye” is a one-person horrible public relations machine. If it’s not his ego, the misogyny, the bad music, and/or public ranting--you can always count on him to praise people like Adolph Hitler. In this episode, we talk about his latest stunt that sent shockwaves wherein he wore a t-shirt for a Norwegian death metal band (Burzum), showing he hasn’t learned anything since the last time he acted up.

    Season 23, Episode 5
When method acting goes too far

If an actor wants to go deep on their character work for a movie, TV show, or play, and they’re not hurting anyone, knock yourself out. However, method acting isn’t an excuse to humiliate or assault people or create a hostile work environment.
We talk about some actors and directors that go too far in the name of “art.”

  • What a Creep
    Season 23, Episode 4
    J.D. Salinger

In 1972, a teenager named Joyce Maynard wrote a New York Times magazine piece titled “An 18-Year-Old Looks Back at Life.” The daughter of artistic, brilliant parents who had many issues and tended to treat her as an adult--she was precocious and a veteran of magazine writing by the time she graduated from high school.

Written during her first year at Yale, one of her fan letters was from 53-year-old J.D. Salinger--one of the most famous “genius” reclusives living in New Hampshire. The two had a correspondence, which led to a relationship where she moved in with him and gradually shrunk herself away from the world. Until he carelessly dumped her.
Turns out she is NOT the only young person who falls under his romantic spell. Also, she has some other messiness going on in her life. There is SO much to discuss here!

  • What a Creep
    Season 23, Episode 3

The history of ‘ugly laws’ in America (1860-1970) & NON-Creep Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Laws are supposed to protect us, but from the 1860s to the 1970s, many cities nationwide had so-called “ugly laws.” The name makes it sound like the police were walking around and deciding if people were attractive enough to be in public, but ugly laws were a way to criminalize being poor or homeless and/or having disabilities and disfigurements. And played a part in the racial segregation of public facilities, immigration bans for the “unfit,” and the eugenics movement.

  • What A Creep
    Mel Gibson
    Season 1, Episode 4 (REPLAY!)

Sonia is out sick, so we are replaying one of our first season faves--Mel Gibson. Merry Creepmas to all who celebrate!

Mel Gibson is a huge movie star. He has starred in massive blockbuster movies and won Academy Awards. At one time, he was one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood. Hell, he was even People Magazine’s first-ever Sexiest Man Alive.

Mel Gibson is also a racist, anti-semitic homophobe who somehow continues to work in Hollywood. Why? Sonia talks about it with a bit of help from our friends at:

We end the episode with Margo sharing a story about someone who isn’t a creep.
