In this week’s episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I discuss the importance of feeling instead of thinking. I recently took a course from the Barral Institute with one of my favorite instructors, Ron Mariotti, all about visceral vascular manipulation. Ron has been an integral part of how and what I teach with the LTAP™ because he’s one of the main instructors who taught me how to be better at listening to the body with my hands. In the episode, you’ll hear how a technique that was used on me has relieved digestive issues I’ve been having since September, the importance of going gentle on the pancreas, and why you shouldn’t blame your client’s body type if you’re having a hard time feeling with your hands.

This week on the Unreal Results podcast, its all about understanding (or at least trying to) the nervous system. I’m currently going through my online LTAP level 1 course with a new cohort and thought that making an episode regarding the neuroanatomy and neurophysiology would be helpful for them, but also for you. In this episode, I do a deep dive on the interplay between the central nervous system, autonomic nervous system, and enteric nervous system and their impact on the visceral organs and the immune system. You’ll also hear me talk about neuroception, polyvagal theory, and practical applications for treating the nervous system. This episode is a big one and goes in-depth, so if you have to listen to it a few times, I get it. But I promise it will be worth your time!

This week on the Unreal Results Podcast, I dive deep into the complexities of restoring knee flexion following an injury or surgery. This is a topic that I know all too well as I spent many days in PT having my knee forced into flexion and well, I still don’t have full knee flexion. In this episode, I talk about some of my favorite techniques that don’t require you to force your patient into tears to help them achieve full knee flexion. You’ll hear me discuss some of my favorite approaches including the “standard” hands-on techniques with the typical biomechanical lens of view. But you know it wouldn’t be an Unreal Results episode if I didn’t talk about the holistic side of things including how specific visceral and neural influences can affect the knee as well as the importance of hydration. This week on the Unreal Results podcast, I talk about one of my favorite topics - the Gillet SI joint test. Gillet’s test or sometimes known as the March test or Stork test, is typically known for having poor reliability based on previous research. If you’ve been following along for some time, you probably know that said research likes to get thrown around by the EBP police when I make posts on social media. But the often overlooked part of these research studies is that they have lots of flaws and limitations. Make sure you tune into this episode as I break down why the studies on the Gillet test aren’t the best and why I think the SI joint is innately difficult to assess with only one test.

First and foremost, this topic is important to me because this is what happened with my mom’s cancer diagnosis, which I talked all about in episode 1 of this podcast. I talk about how it’s important to recognize when a patient’s condition isn’t progressing as expected and the need to consider possible underlying visceral issues or red flags such as cancer or infection. This is legitimately one of my favorite episodes, which yes, I know I say that a lot, but what I talk about in this clip can be tremendously helpful for your practice if you don’t know this information. In this episode, I talk about how the trigeminal nerve is more than just a sensory nerve to portions of the face and innervates the masseter, but also its role in the parasympathetic nervous system. I break down the anatomy of the trigeminal nerve and relate that to cranial and spinal nerves, headaches, and nervous system tension throughout the body. I truly believe that this information could truly improve the outcomes that you get with your patients.
