If you’ve ever sat at your desk or stood behind a counter and wondered, Does what I do really matter?—this episode is for you. Your job doesn’t have to be glamorous to be godly. Tune in to discover how showing up faithfully—even in the most routine tasks—can shape culture, transform hearts, and bring glory to God.
Dr. Dan Doriani joins us to help reframe the way we think about calling, purpose, and the everyday grind. Drawing on more than twenty years of pastoral insight and theological depth, he unpacks how even the most “ordinary” job can have sacred value.
Whether you're wrangling toddlers in a preschool classroom, scanning barcodes at the drive-thru, or performing emergency surgery, your work carries eternal significance. In God's economy, no task done unto Him is ever wasted.
In this conversation, we’ll explore:
A biblical theology of work—its beauty, brokenness, and future redemptionHow to find meaning in even the most mundane or overlooked rolesWhat it looks like to stay faithful when your job feels frustrating or unseenReal-life stories of everyday workers making an extraordinary impactHow your work can participate in God’s redemptive work in the worldMore About Our Guest:

In this episode of Unpolished Faith, we're joined by Sebastian Traeger, co-author of The Gospel at Work, to explore the profound tension many Christians feel between two extremes when it comes to their jobs: idleness and idolatry. Whether you're feeling stuck in a “just-get-by” mentality or consumed by career ambition, this conversation will challenge your assumptions about work and offer a gospel-shaped perspective that brings both freedom and purpose.
We dive deep into questions that every working Christian eventually faces:
How should faith shape our career decisions? Can ambition coexist with humility and service? Is "ministry" more meaningful than marketplace work? How do we deal with difficult bosses or unmotivated teams?Where does money fit into the equation? And how do we balance work with family and church life without burning out?Rooted in biblical truth and real-life experience, Sebastian unpacks how the gospel liberates us from the pressures of performance and significance, and invites us instead to view work as a way to serve Christ, no matter what our job title is.
Whether you're in the boardroom, behind a register, or somewhere in between—this episode will help you rethink why and for Whom you work.

What sets great leaders apart in the boardroom, on the field, and in everyday life? According to former MLB pitcher, business leader, and author Pat Combs, it's not just strategy or skill—it’s a deep alignment with Kingdom values.
In this episode, Madi sits down with Pat to talk about what the best leaders know that most Christians tend to forget: that leadership is less about control and more about character. Drawing from his experiences in professional sports, business, and mentoring young adults, Pat unpacks how faithfulness, humility, and integrity shape lasting influence.
You’ll hear stories that challenge hustle culture, confront ego-driven success, and remind us that God's scoreboard looks a whole lot different than ours. If you're leading in any capacity—whether it’s a team, your family, or just yourself—this episode will recalibrate your definition of success and encourage you to lead like Jesus.

In this episode, Madi returns to the mic after graduating with her master’s degree (woohoo!), wrapping up one of the busiest seasons of her life—school deadlines, job transitions, and all the things in between. As we move into the next room of our series Our Dwelling Place, we're stepping into the office... and asking: Does our work really matter to God?
Whether you’re in a 9-to-5, managing a home, between jobs, or wondering what you’re even called to do—this episode is for you. Madi unpacks why the workplace isn't just a place to earn a paycheck, but a space where God forms us, meets us, and invites us to live on mission.
Tune in for an honest conversation about burnout, calling, showing up with purpose, and why your ordinary work might be more sacred than you think.

This season, we’re exploring the different rooms of a house as symbols of community—what it looks like, why it matters, and how we build it.

Hello friends! Welcome to 2025 at Unpolished Faith. It’s a new year, and while the world is shouting “New Year, New Me,” I’m leaning into something different—rest and renewal. Over the holidays, for the first time in a long time, I actually slowed down. And in that stillness, I realized something: God does His best work when we stop striving.
This year, I’m not chasing a new version of myself—I’m committing to a deeper, more rested, more surrendered version. Maybe that’s what you need too.
And speaking of fresh starts, Season 3 is almost here! Next week, I’ll drop the official trailer, and trust me, you don’t want to miss it. We’re talking about the kind of community that helps you build a life that lasts.

Around this time of year, we sing songs about the Messiah and celebrate the baby born to save us all. But do we truly understand the depth of what "Messiah" means? In Hebrew, "Messiah" translates to Mashiach (מָשִׁיחַ), meaning "anointed one." It signifies someone consecrated with holy oil, chosen by God for a unique purpose. In Jewish tradition, the Messiah refers to a future king from the lineage of David who will deliver Israel and restore its glory.
As part of our Christmas Theology Three-Part Deep Dive, we are having a conversation with Israel Lambert. The meaning of Messiah reflects a hope that points to the richness of God’s redemptive plan for humanity. This plan began long before the manger in Bethlehem and stretches into eternity, reminding us of the profound story woven throughout Scripture.

Hi friend! Welcome to the first day of our three-part Christmas Theology deep dive (say that three times fast). We kicked off this season with Dale Partridge, who reminded us of the 4,000 years of history where people longed for Christmas—but God was not silent during those years. Through His prophets, He delivered over 300 prophecies and promises, all pointing to the King who would come. From Genesis to Malachi, these promises told of the Messiah who would fulfill them all, proving He is the King who was promised.
On the show today we have Dr. Brent Thomason, here to help us see Christ throughout the Old Testament. Dr. Thomason is the Dean of the Graduate School of Ministry and a Professor of Biblical Studies at Dallas Baptist University, where I’ve had the privilege of taking his Hermeneutics class this semester. Dr. Thomason’s journey with Scripture is rooted in an impressive background. With four degrees from three different countries—including Belgium and the U.K.—and years spent living and ministering overseas, Dr. Thomason brings a unique perspective to biblical studies.
Whether you’ve studied these Scriptures a hundred times or this is your first deep dive, I promise this conversation will leave you in awe of God’s perfect plan from the beginning to the end.
Thank you for downloading and sharing with your friends :)
