This is it for us down here in Zone C Florida this week, deer season opens Saturday morning at 6:41 AM is legal shooting light according to my calculations. Good luck to all you lovely people this weekend, I’ll be heading up to our lease in Georgia to try and put this ole bear recurve to work. This week we sat down with Derek Norwood of Derek Norwood outdoors. He’s a Florida native who has quite a few tricks up his sleeve for locating whitetails in some less than desirable locations down here. We had a great time discussing tactics and his YouTube channel and we hope you guys will enjoy it.

What a wonderful day it is today! Do you know why? No? Well let me tell you, it's the last week in August, and when August is over it’s September and do you know what happens in September for most of us? That's right! It's deer season, baby! I’m absolutely pumped for this year and I'm itching to climb a tree with the ole recurve and do my best to put some meat in the freezer. This week we sat down with Bruce the owner of 4S Advanced Wildlife Solutions to talk about the products they offer to keep your deer herd in shape all season long because even though antlers only grow in the summer the overall health of your herd throughout the year plays an important factor in keeping those big boys around year after year.

Every now and again we’ve got to give some love to our home state of Florida. We may not always hunt here but we do care about what goes on in the state legislatively and want to make sure we’re trying to preserve what's left for future generations to enjoy. We as Floridians face plenty of challenges that extend far beyond heat and mosquitos in the “ Fall” and hurricanes most of deer season. We’ve seen some changes come down the pipe this year in the form of the Alligator Super hunt and the Change from Youth hunts to family hunts but we also have the right to hunt and fish on the ballot this November. Times are changing, Florida is expanding rapidly and our ability to hunt and fish will continue to be challenged. This week we are joined by Chuck Echenique, President of Future of Hunting in Florida to talk about a lot of the new changes and address some common complaints.

This week we sat down with Kennie Steverson, a local tournament angler. Kennie made his mark on the maps last year when he won a big tournament here on the Harris chain. KEnny grew up right here local to the studio and is a good ole boy just like the rest of us. On the episode we discuss everything from cheaters to what this new fancy technology they call live scope and so on. Kennie talks about some upcoming tournaments and how his season is going so far. This week's show definitely comes with heavy parental warning. We typically try to keep things pg13 at worst most of the time in the studio but when we get out on the river and get to shake off all responsibility we tend to cut loose a bit. Before we get started on this episode let me give you a little backstory to our river trip this year. Every year we plan a 5 day 50 mile trip down the beautiful Suwannee river. We generally have roughly 25 guys sign up and pay their share of the associated cost of the trip and we have quite a grand time but this year mother nature wasn't having it. The Suwannee was very high for this time of year posing enough risk that they essentially shut the river down by closing the boat ramps. Now mind you these closures took place just a few days prior to us needing to leave for the trip. We refused to let mother nature get in the way of a good time and another adventure was put together at the last minute and the Wacissa river adventure was born.
