Ireland. A haunted inn. A witch with a grudge. And one very unlucky writer who should have known better.
This week, we are heading across the pond for another Damian McCarthy masterpiece, Hokum — the latest from the Irish filmmaker who gave us Caveat and Oddity and has apparently made it his personal mission to make sure we never sleep again. Adam Scott stars as Ohm Bauman, an author who travels to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes and ends up with way more than he bargained for. Because of course he does.
We're breaking down the atmosphere, the folklore, the scares — and yes, we have thoughts. McCarthy's slow-burn style is either your love language or your nightmare (or both), and we are absolutely here for it.

In this follow-up Oscars episode, we dive into Frankenstein, Guillermo del Toro’s long-standing passion project that made its mark at the Academy Awards. The film won three Oscars for its stunning craftsmanship, winning in Makeup & Hairstyling, Production Design, and Costume Design. The film stands as a celebration of hands-on craftsmanship, offering a striking counterpoint to the rapid rise of AI. (Full disclosure: I used ChatGPT to help me write these show notes. I'm sorry Mr. Del Toro!)

We have a special Oscars episode for you this week with Bugonia which was nominated for 4 categories, but won none. Bugonia is a remake of a 2003 Southern Koren film called Save the Green Planet! directed by Jang Joon-hwan. We get into the differences between the original and this adaptation, the themes, and, of course, the divisive ending. Tangents include: the incredible horror representation at the 2025 Academy Awards, if Hamnet is the new Shakespeare in Love, and how everything is plastic.

This week on Two Chicks and a Horror Flick, we’re diving into one of the strangest, most bizarre films we’ve ever covered… Tusk.
And we couldn’t think of better people to get weird with than our longtime friends Marc and Brooke from A Podcast on Elm Street. We’ve been podcast friends for years, so this episode felt like hanging out and talking horror with old friends — just with a lot more walrus discussion than usual.
Kevin Smith takes body horror in a direction absolutely no one expected…
A missing podcaster.
A mysterious recluse.
And a transformation so disturbing you won’t be able to look away.Is Tusk brilliant horror… or completely unhinged madness?
Honestly… we’re still deciding.
Press play and join the conversation.

Hold onto your Eggos, horror babes—we are diving into the Stranger Things Season 5 series finale! After years of waiting, we're finally saying goodbye to Hawkins, and trust us, this emotional rollercoaster hits different. We're breaking down that epic showdown, the gut-wrenching character moments that had us sobbing, and whether the Duffer Brothers stuck the landing after nine years of Upside Down chaos.
From nostalgic callbacks to heart-stopping scares, we're talking about what worked, what didn't, and how this finale measures up against the entire series. Did our favorite characters get the endings they deserved? Was the final battle worth the wait? And most importantly—are we okay? (Spoiler: we're not.)
Grab your flashlights and your tissues because this one's a big one. Stranger things have happened... but not many finales hit like this.

The Chicks are back in Hawkins for Stranger Things Season 5: Volume 2, and emotions are HIGH. In this episode, Tawny and Miriam catch up after the holidays before diving headfirst into the second half of the final season—breaking down major moments, lingering questions, and what this volume means as the story barrels toward its end. As always, we wander delightfully off track along the way, because that’s just how we do it. Tangents include: holiday catch-up chaos and post-holiday brain fog, Tawny’s brief but intense love affair with football, dachshund puppies (because why not), and a few more side quests we absolutely did not plan.

It’s our final episode of the year, and you know what that means—it’s time for our annual Year in Review. 🍾🖤
We’re pouring a drink, taking a breath, and looking back at a year filled with unforgettable movies, hot takes we stand by (and a few we absolutely don’t), community moments that meant the world to us, and some truly unhinged horror experiences. From movies that blew us away to ones, eh, not so much, from favorite episodes and WTF scenes to listener questions that sent us spiraling—in the best way—we’re wrapping up the year the only way we know how: together.
This episode is part reflection, part chaos, part love letter to horror, and part love letter to you—our listeners, Discord crew, Patreon fam, and everyone who showed up week after week to scream with us.
Thank you for making this year what it was. We wouldn’t trade this community for anything. Here’s to one more night of horror before we turn the page. 🩸✨
🖤 See you next year, Two Chicks.

The Chicks are heading back to Hawkins…one last time (well, Volume 1 at least)! In this episode, we dive into Stranger Things Season 5: Volume 1, unpacking the tension, the terror, the heartbreak, and the biggest WTF moments the Duffer Brothers have thrown at us so far. We talk character arcs, returning threats, and all the deliciously nostalgic horror influences that make Stranger Things the phenomenon it is. We fangirl hardcore in this episode!

This week, we’re firing up the chainsaw and diving into one of the most influential horror films of all time: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974). Whether you love it, hate it, or simply respect its place in horror history, there’s no denying the cultural impact of Leatherface’s grim, gritty debut.
We break down the dinner scene that feels like a fever dream you can’t wake up from, the wild behind-the-scenes stories that make the movie somehow even more unhinged, and why this sun-baked nightmare still crawls under your skin after all these years. And of course…we air out some very strong, very justified feelings about Franklin. Join us for a fun, unhinged, deeply horror-nerdy breakdown of a movie that shaped the entire genre.

In this week’s episode, we’re diving into one of few modern horror slashers — Terrifier. Directed by Damien Leone, this blood-soaked indie became a cult favorite thanks to its sadistic villain, Art the Clown, and its unapologetically brutal approach to slasher horror. Tangents include: The Indifferent Stars Above (a non-fiction book about the Donner Party) and the new Monster: Ed Gein Story Netflix series. This is a pretty catch up heavy episode, so if you want to skip to the movie discussion go to 27:50.

This week, we’re stepping into Ireland’s misty folklore with Fréwaka—the first Irish-language horror film, and oh boy, it does not hold back. This isn’t just a spooky story; it’s a raw, unsettling look at grief, guilt, and the shadows of tradition.

This week we’re diving headfirst into the eerie world of underground Russian occultism with the Philippou brothers’ latest film, Bring Her Back. Known for their breakout hit Talk to Me, the brothers return with another grief-soaked, nerve-shredding horror that has us obsessed. We explore the shared themes of grief, possession, and loss... and ask: are these two films connected in other ways? Tangents include: Netflix's Trainwreck series and psycho-biddy horror.

This week, we jam through Ryan Coogler’s ambitious vampire blues-horror set in 1932 Mississippi. Sinners isn’t your average blood-sucker flick—it’s a visceral, soulful tale of identity, community, and the cost of cultural exploitation. Its lush visuals, haunting blues score, and powerful performances—especially Michael B. Jordan’s dual turn—make it one memorable ride. Tangents include: Tacotopia, incels, fireflies, Tawny’s Nope-like work event, and how to use ChatGPT to cut back (or quiet) alcohol! Trust us—this one sinks its teeth in.
