  • What really happened inside the Haunted Fairbanks House of Sicily Island, Louisiana?

In this episode of True Hauntings, we investigate the disturbing story of the Fairbanks House, a historic Louisiana home now known for paranormal activity, ghost investigations, strange noises, shadow figures, alleged EVPs, and the chilling legend of “Henrietta’s Closet.”

The story centres on Henrietta Fairbanks, a young woman said to have suffered from epilepsy and seizures before her early death in 1922. Over time, her real life appears to have been reshaped into something darker: a tale of confinement, a haunted closet, and a ghost story that has become part of the house’s modern paranormal reputation.

But is the Fairbanks House truly haunted?

Or has Henrietta’s story been transformed by rumour, psychic claims, paranormal investigators, ghost-hunting television, YouTube investigations, and the business of haunted tourism?

Anne and Renata examine the history, the reported paranormal phenomena, the claims connected to The Dead Files episode “Bent on Revenge: Sicily Island, LA,” and the modern ghost stories surrounding the Haunted Fairbanks House. We look at the witness accounts, the investigation reports, the contradictions, and the way a tragic family story may have evolved into one of Louisiana’s most talked-about haunted house legends.

This is not just a ghost story. It is a case about illness, grief, folklore, paranormal storytelling, and what can happen when the life of a real woman becomes the centrepiece of a haunting.

Was Henrietta Fairbanks truly haunting the house?

Or are we looking at a constructed paranormal narrative built from history, rumour, suggestion, and spectacle?

Listen as we unpack the legend of The Girl in the Closet: The Haunted Fairbanks House of Louisiana.

  • In this episode of True Hauntings Podcast, we investigate the strange and unsettling case of The Cideville Poltergeist, one of France’s most unusual 19th-century paranormal mysteries.

In 1850, at a quiet presbytery in Cideville, Normandy, two boys studying under Curé Jean Tinel became the centre of a terrifying series of unexplained events: mysterious knocks in the walls, flying objects, moving furniture, musical raps, strange voices, and claims of a dark figure haunting the house.

But this was no ordinary ghost story.

The haunting soon turned into a legal battle when local shepherd Félix Thorel was accused of being connected to the disturbances through sorcery. Thorel denied the claims and sued the priest for defamation, turning the Cideville Poltergeist into a rare paranormal case that ended up in court.

Was this a genuine poltergeist haunting? Were the boys responsible for the activity? Was Thorel a sorcerer, a scapegoat, or simply the man the village chose to blame? And how did fear, religion, gossip, and reputation turn strange knocks in a priest’s house into one of France’s most fascinating haunted history cases?

Join us as we explore the priest, the shepherd, the two boys, and the curse that went to court.

  • What if Australia’s official guardian of film and sound was also one of its most haunted buildings? In this episode of True Hauntings, Anne and Renata dive deep into the chilling paranormal activity reported inside the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra.

Staff witness tapes flying from impossible machines, doors opening by themselves, and lights flickering with no one nearby. Schoolchildren repeatedly see a little girl waving from a high grate that once overlooked the morgue — a friendly wave from a place no living child could reach. In the infamous Blood Room, visitors feel faint, smell decay, and watch torches die instantly. An electrical contractor was reportedly pinned to a wall by an unseen force, while ghost hunters recorded batteries draining simultaneously and a shadow figure moving through the dark.

Who benefits from these stories staying alive — and why do credible witnesses, including long-term sceptics, keep reporting the same unsettling encounters? From the founder’s apparition stepping out of a wall to the deeper cultural weight still felt in the building, this is a haunting where the past refuses to stay archived.

If you love real ghost stories, poltergeist activity, and haunted Australian landmarks, you won’t want to miss this one.

Listen now and decide: is the NFSA truly one of Australia’s most haunted places?

  • You don’t usually expect a place built for prayer to carry a reputation that makes even locals lower their voices when they talk about it
but that’s exactly what’s happened at the Abbey of Santa Maria di Lucedio. Out in the quiet rice fields of northern Italy, this monastery has managed to collect centuries’ worth of rumours that feel just a little too persistent to brush off as imagination.

What makes this one interesting is not just the stories people like to repeat, it’s the uncomfortable gaps in the history. You’ve got a powerful religious order, land that was considered sacred long before the abbey was even built, and a period of time where discipline, control and silence were part of daily life. When you start looking at it properly, you realise this isn’t just a “haunted monastery” story. It’s about what happens when power goes unchecked behind thick stone walls and nobody on the outside is really asking questions.

In this episode of the True Hauntings Podcast, we’re not just walking into a building with a spooky reputation. We’re stepping into a place where faith, fear and human behaviour collided in ways that still don’t sit right, even hundreds of years later. And if you’re wondering whether all of that could leave something behind
well, that’s exactly where we’re heading.

  • There are some houses that become stories
and then there are houses that refuse to stay just a story.

The Munroe House sits firmly in that second category.

On paper, it’s just another historic American home — wood, nails, a bit of age and weathering. But the moment you start pulling at the threads, you realise this place has gathered something heavier over time. .

What makes the Munroe House interesting — and slightly unsettling — is that it doesn’t rely on one dramatic tale to carry its reputation.

    It’s the accumulation.

Different people, different years, same kinds of encounters. Footsteps where no one is walking.

Figures seen in passing that don’t quite belong to the present.

That quiet but persistent feeling that the house is occupied
even when it shouldn’t be. And as always, we’ll separate what’s been recorded and reported from what’s grown legs over time, because not everything you hear about a haunted house survives a closer look.

I this episode of the True Hauntings Podcast we’re not just telling ghost stories for the sake of it.

We’re stepping into the history of the Munroe House — what actually happened there, who lived within those walls, and why this particular place continues to sit on the radar of investigators and locals alike.

Because sometimes the question isn’t is it haunted
it’s why does this one refuse to quiet down?

  • What happens when a young girl begins to suffer attacks
from something no one can see?

In 1925, 11-year-old Elenore Zugun became the centre of one of the most disturbing poltergeist cases ever recorded. Witnesses claimed objects moved on their own, unseen forces struck her, and most chilling of all
bite marks appeared on her body while people watched.

Was this a case of possession?

    A genuine poltergeist?

Or something far more human—and far more complex?

Investigated by neurologists, observed by aristocrats, and later examined by famed paranormal researcher Harry Price, the Zugun case sits at the crossroads of belief and skepticism. Even today, it refuses to give us a clear answer.

In this episode of True Hauntings, we follow Elenore’s story from a small Romanian village to the laboratories of Vienna and London
uncovering the witnesses, the evidence, and the theories that still divide opinion nearly a century later.

đŸ‘» Was she under attack by something unseen

or was she the source of it all?

  • It starts, as these things often do, with something small
 something easy to dismiss.

    A knock.

    Not loud. Not dramatic. Just
 there.

A quiet, deliberate tap that doesn’t belong to anyone in the room.

And here’s the uncomfortable part — in the Crawley house, that knock didn’t stop.

    It turned into footsteps
 objects shifting
doors opening when no one was near them. The kind of thing people love to roll their eyes at — until it happens in their own home and suddenly logic packs its bags and leaves.

Because this wasn’t one strange night or an overactive imagination after too much wine. This went on. Witnesses. Reports. People who were, frankly, not looking for attention.

And if you’re thinking, “Alright, so who was faking it?” — you’re not alone.

That’s exactly where most people start.

But the Crawley Poltergeist has a way of pulling you a little closer before you realise what you’re standing in.

Because once you strip away the exaggeration
once you look at what was actually documented

You’re left with something that doesn’t sit comfortably in either camp — believer or sceptic.

And that’s where it gets interesting.

    So in this episode
we’re not asking if something happened in that house.

    We’re asking a much trickier question —

what on earth could have caused it?

And whether we’d recognise it if it happened to us.

  • In the first part of this two part story about the Chateau De Amerois we learnt about the known history of this place and the deeply traumatic space it is surrounded by. A forest filled with the trauma of war and patriarchy.

Now, Anne will be taking us into an even darker side - the stories of it's ghosts and the trembling wails of those that crossed the path of this building.

On the surface it’s known as a royal retreat, once connected to the Belgian monarchy and carefully kept out of public reach.

But locals will tell you the woods around Amerois have always carried a certain heaviness — the kind of place where sound seems to vanish between the trees and the air feels older than the castle itself.

Visitors have reported strange lights moving through empty rooms long after midnight.

Staff have spoken quietly about footsteps on upper floors when no one else was there
 doors opening on their own
and the uneasy sense that certain parts of the chñteau simply don’t want to be entered.

But the most unsettling stories aren’t about shadows in corridors.

They’re about a presence tied to the history of the estate itself — something that may have followed the royal family there
 and never quite left.

Tonight we’re heading into the forests of southern Belgium, to a castle where privilege, secrecy
and something far older than either may still linger behind locked doors.

  • Behind locked gates in the Ardennes forest sits a chĂąteau most people have never heard of — and that’s exactly how some would prefer it.

ChĂąteau d’AmĂ©rois isn’t splashed across tourist brochures or wedding websites. I

t doesn’t trade on Instagram sunsets or glossy heritage grants. I

t sits quietly in Belgium, wrapped in trees and whispers, with a history that feels
 curated.

And whenever history feels curated, I start asking questions.

On paper, it’s aristocracy. Royal connections. Nobility.

    Perfect stonework and manicured grounds.

But scratch just a little deeper and the story shifts tone. Rumours of secretive gatherings.

Claims of ritual activity. Stories that refuse to sit neatly in the “just a beautiful old castle” category.

Now — are all of those claims documented fact? No.

And we’ll separate what is provable from what is pure speculation, because that’s how we do things here.

But the sheer persistence of the allegations surrounding this place is enough to make even the most hardened sceptic lean forward.

Tonight, we’re stepping inside ChĂąteau d’AmĂ©rois — not as gossip hunters, not as conspiracy chasers, but as investigators of narrative.

    What is known.

    What is alleged.

And why certain buildings seem to attract stories that cling like damp to stone walls.

Because sometimes a haunting isn’t about a ghost in the corridor
sometimes it’s about power, secrecy, and the uncomfortable feeling that something happened behind those doors that never quite made it into the official record.

    Stay with us.

    This one is layered.

But a warning - if you feel that listening to a darker tale that may involve talk about abuse is too much for you, please look after yourself and consider if this episode is for you.

We have also had to split this story into two parts - this episode delves into the history of the site.

Our next episode expands on the mythology and what has been said to occur behind closed doors and away from the eyes of the world.

When people throw mud - some of it will always stick.

  • Malahide Castle looks polite enough from the outside. Manicured grounds.

    Postcard Ireland.

The kind of place tour buses roll into without anyone gripping their seat too tightly.

But that’s the trick with places like this — the real story doesn’t live in the stone walls or the gift shop. It lives in what happened when nobody was watching
and in the long memory of a family who occupied the same ground for nearly eight hundred years.

In this episode, we peel back the tourist gloss and look at the actual history — the Talbot family, their power, their secrets, their scandals, and the very human mess that builds up when generation after generation refuses to let go.

This isn’t about jumping straight to ghost stories. It’s about betrayal, sudden deaths, political manoeuvring, violent endings, and the kind of unresolved business that tends to linger long after the last body is buried.

Because when a place has seen loyalty rewarded with ruin, love curdle into revenge, and privilege protect some while destroying others
you don’t need to stretch very far to understand why people still report footsteps in empty corridors and figures where no one should be standing.

This episode lays the groundwork — the bones beneath the hauntings — and once you hear it, Malahide Castle won’t feel quite so well-behaved again.

  • Tucked into the shadow of St Giles’ Cathedral, on what we now call Parliament Square, John’s Coffee House once buzzed with the energy of Edinburgh’s legal and intellectual elite. But behind the cobblestones and grand facades lies a history thick with intrigue, secrets, and, some say, restless spirits. Tonight, we’re stepping back to 1688, into the smoky, crowded rooms where lawyers, merchants, and thinkers gathered over coffee, wine, and brandy—and where whispers of political plotting, deals, and even darker events might still echo. For anyone searching for haunted sites in Edinburgh or paranormal activity near the Royal Mile, John’s Coffee House is a story you won’t want to miss.

This wasn’t just a coffee house—it was a stage for ambition, rivalry, and sometimes disaster. From secretive meetings of creditors to fiery debates over the 1707 Act of Union, the people who passed through John’s were shaping the city’s—and the nation’s—future. But along with the great minds came the human flaws: heavy drinking, brawls, and a few shadowy incidents that were quietly recorded in gossip and legal notes.

In this episode of the True Hauntings podcast we’re digging into every layer of John’s story: the daily “meridian” brandy rituals of the lawyers, the infamous “Cauld Cock and Feather” drink, the political plotting and late-night arguments, and the sudden destruction of the Great Fire of 1824 that buried the building—and possibly disturbed graves beneath its floors.

And we’ll explore the eerie aftermath: the Police Chambers that rose on the same site, ghostly encounters reported during renovations, and the modern revival of John’s Coffee House that leans into its dark past.

If you’ve ever wanted a tale where history, hauntings, and human folly collide—this is it.

  • The Mansfield Reformatory in Ohio wasn’t meant to be just another prison. It was built like a castle, a grand gothic structure that looked more like a church than a jail.

The big idea was to reform young men — give them a trade, some moral guidance, and send them back into the world as better citizens.

But, what started as a shining vision of redemption turned into something very different. Overcrowding, brutality, desperate suicides and cruel punishments twisted the dream into a nightmare. Behind those walls, men lost their minds, their lives, and some say, their souls.

From tragic deaths and dark legends to the ghostly echoes that still linger in the cell blocks, Mansfield is now known as one of the most haunted places in America.

Join us on this episode of the True Hauntings Podcast as we take you inside the castle that promised salvation but delivered only suffering.
