    (22:17) - Cassidy Rainwater

Missouri woman Cassidy Rainwater was down on her luck in 2021. She told family that she was staying with an acquaintance, James Phelps, until she could get back on her feet.

When Cassidy’s family could not get in touch with her, they called in a welfare check. Police went to James’ home and he told authorities that Cassidy had left in July 2021 to move to Colorado.

Soon after Cassidy disappeared, an anonymous tip was sent in to the FBI. The tipster said that there were photos of Cassidy on the dark web. In the images, Cassidy could be seen being held captive in a cage.

James Phelps and a friend of his, Timothy Norton, would end up being arrested for Cassidy’s murder. The men attacked Cassidy while she was sleeping and ended up dismembering her body. Packages of her flesh were found in a freezer and had the date ‘July 24;’ written on them. During court proceedings, the men admitted to going to their local Walmart in an attempt to find other victims.

Both men are now serving life in prison.

    (10:49) - Matthew Perry Start

Celebrity Matthew Perry was very open about his decades-long struggle with addiction. He estimated that over the years, he had spent around $9m on rehab costs. At one point during his addiction, he was in a coma and on life-support for two weeks.

In 2023, Matthew seemed to be doing well. Even some of his close friends believed he was sober. Matthew had been getting legal ketamine treatment for his depression and his doctor thought that it was working well.

At some point in September 2023, things changed Matthew. He worked with his assistant of 25 years, Kenneth Iwamasa, to begin obtaining more ketamine illegally. They got the drugs from doctors and also from a drug dealer known as the ‘Ketamine Queen.’ Within weeks, Matthew had spent $55k on the drug,

On October 28, 2023, Matthew told Kenneth to ‘shoot me up with a big one.’ Kenneth did so and he then left to run errands. When he returned to Matthew’s home, he found the celebrity face down in his jacuzzi. Paramedics were called and Matthew was declared dead at the age of 54.

Five people have recently been arrested and charged in connection with Matthew’s death. His assistant is facing a possible sentence of 15 years in prison.

    ** TW - CHILD MURDER **

The United States has the highest rate of child murder among developed nations. The most common perpetrator of child homicide is a parent.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss two cases where children were murdered by a person who should have cared for them the most – their father.

    - In June 2023, Chad Doerman asked his wife and children to lay down with him for a nap. As soon as they all climbed into bed, Chad got up and went to the gun safe. He went on a heinous rampage, shooting his three sons dead. Chad’s wife and step-daughter would survive the ordeal – it seems the boys were his main targets. Chad hast just been sentenced to life in prison.

    - Corey Micciolo was born in 2014. He lived for his early years with his mother Breanna. His father Christopher Gregor would eventually be given residential custody due to Breanna’s addiction issues. Breanna noticed bruises on Corey and his teachers have said that his demeanor changed over time. CCTV of Corey and Christopher was found – Christopher was forcing Corey to run at high speeds on a treadmill and he stumbled and fell multiple times. Christopher also appeared to bite Corey at one point. After the treadmill incident, Corey would pass away in hospital. In August 2024, Christopher was sentenced to a total of 25 years in state prison for his role in Corey’s death.

    (15:08 )- Heat Related Deaths

On average, 37 children under the age of 15 die each year from heatstroke after being left in a vehicle.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss two cases where children died after being left unattended in the heat.

Justin ‘Ross’ Harris and his wife Leanna had been having marriage troubles for years. They were trying to stick it out, despite Ross’ having numerous affairs. The couple had one child together, Cooper.

In June 2014, Ross texted one of the women he had been seeing and said "I need an escape. I love my son and all but we both need an escape.”

Later that day, Ross took Cooper to breakfast and was meant to drop him off to daycare. After driving for a mile, Ross somehow forgot that Cooper was in his car seat. Ross parked the car in direct sunlight, got out of the vehicle and went into work.

Seven hours later, after internal temperatures in the car reached around 125f, Ross left work and drove off. Minutes later, he realized what he had done. Cooper was dead in his car seat.

Ross was charged with malice murder, two counts of felony murder, cruelty to children in the first and second degree, criminal attempt to commit a felony and dissemination of harmful materials to minors. Many of these charges stemmed from Ross’ inappropriate communications with underage females that he engaged in sexting with.

Ross was convicted in 2016. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole plus 32 years.

However, in 2024, Ross was released from prison. A court ruled that there should have been separate trials for the murder charges and the sex-crime charges and his convictions were overturned.

Her parents were said to be swimming and cooling off. When they returned to check Tanna Rae some time later, she was bleeding from the ears. The baby was transported to hospital where she passed from heat-related conditions. There is an investigation into the baby’s death ongoing.

On a cold night in June 2001, the couple were driving through the remote Australian outback. A passing motorist named Bradley John Murdoch motioned to the couple to stop their vehicle because of car troubles. Peter pulled over and got out of the car. What happened next is the stuff of nightmares.

Joanne heard a loud bang and Peter dropped out of sight. Bradley then attempted to abduct Joanne, but she managed to escape into the desert where she hid for hours.

Bradley would eventually be charged with Peter’s murder, but Joanne faced vicious attacks from the media who questioned her every move. The media interest in this trial was so large that the court went under a massive renovation costing almost $1 million dollars.

23 years later, Peter’s body has never been found.

We have had so many messages asking us to look into the mysterious death of Oklahoma teen Noah Presgrove.

As some background info: Noah and around 40 other teens had been partying for 3-4 days.Around 3am on September 4, 2023, Noah was involved in an ATV wreck that he walked away from. He went back to the party and was involved in some type of argument or disagreement. It was said that Noah walked away from the party.

Just before 6am on September 4, Noah’s naked body was found on the side of a highway. He was only wearing mismatched shoes.Noah’s cause of death has been confirmed as blunt force injuries and the manner of death remains undetermined.

Police have confirmed they do not believe Noah’s death was the result of a hit-and-run.

How did Noah die? Could other teens be covering up what really happened? Or was his death a true accident?

** NOTE - this episode is from mid-May and there is a bit more info available currently than there was then, but not much. For example, we now know the party was not at Noah's best friend's house but a girl's house he was friends with **

  • Timestamps:(9:56) - Springfield ThreeHow can three women simply vanish?

On June 7, 1992, Suzie Streeter and her friend Stacy McCall were celebrating their high school graduation. They went to multiple parties and caught up with friends. After police were called to one of the parties, the two girls decided to call it a night and headed back to Suzie’s home to spend the night.

Suzie and Stacy made it back to the house - their vehicles, purses and other belongings were there. What happened after they got home is unknown to this day. The girls along with Suzie’s mother, Sherrill Levitt, vanished and are still missing 32 years later.

Police have said the blinds were pulled back as if the women had been looking outside just before they disappeared. It is believed that Stacy left the home only wearing a t-shirt and underwear, as all of her other belongings are accounted for. A lamp shade on the front porch of the home was broken but there were no other signs of a struggle.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the cold case disappearance of The Springfield Three.

Brian Cohee II was a troubled teen who suffered from mental disorders and was interested in “death and morbidity.

In February 2021, after a movie night with his parents, Brian left their home in search of a victim. He came across a homeless man named Warren Barnes sleeping under a bridge. Brian stabbed Warren multiple times with a kitchen knife before decapitating and dismembering him. Brian put Warren’s head and hands in a bag and took them home with him - stashing them in his closet .

Brian’s mother Terri came across the bag covered in maggots days later. She called police immediately and they arrived to question Brian. There is infamous shocking footage of Brian confidently admitting to the murder.

“Police, they don’t seem to care as much about high-risk individuals: homeless people, prostitutes, etc,” he said. “So I was deliberately looking for someone who lived that type of life.”

“I’m like, that’s a homeless person, so I grabbed my knife, I put on three layers of gloves because plastic gloves can betray their users because they’re so thin…I took the knife, I pulled back the canvas and I stabbed his neck,” he later said.

  • IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE CRIME CONTENT, PLEASE CHECK THE RELEVANT TIMESTAMPS.(8:32) - OJ Simpson’s death (14:07) - Dylan Rounds(17:24) - Crumbley Update(22:34) - Veronica Butler & Jilian KelleyVeronica Butler was involved in a fierce custody battle with her ex regarding their two children. Over the years, there had been allegations of abuse by other family members. In March 2024, Veronica was only able to see her children via supervised visits due to the allegations.

On March 30, Veronica set out with Jilian Kelley to pick up her children to attend a birthday party. Jilian was an acquaintance who had been allowed by the court to supervise Veronica’s visits with her children.

The two women would never arrive to pick up the children. Their vehicle was found abandoned in a remote area. Pools of blood, a hammer and gun paraphernalia was found at the scene.

Four people have now been arrested in relation to this case. They are Tad Cullum, Tifany Adams, Cole Twombly, and Cora Twombly. This case is a very tangled web - Tifany was Veronica’s ex-mother-in-law. The newly released affidavit suggests that the women were murdered because Tifany was concerned that Veronica would soon be granted unsupervised visitation with the kids.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the brutal murders of Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley.
