But the main thing is the hat! They also discuss the circus of collaborators Tim Burton has brought with him across his career, the power of this film to make grown men cry and whether or not the Top Hat Trilogy is a trilogy at all. This week we're going from a big damn penguin to a big damn FISH baby! In the second episode of the totally connected and officially working Top Hat Trilogy, Matt explains why Big Fish was one of his favourite films as child, while Tyrie dunks on him for fun. Matt (having done his homework for a change) does some back-peddling on his original and uneducated take on Burton, and proclaims him as 'one of his guys', while Tyrie digs into why this film doesn't quite break down his emotional walls.

"I AM AN ANIMAL! I AM NOT A HUMAN BEING!" Good golly Miss Molly... The boys have well and truely lost it... Damned if I know what IT was... Anyway they're doing a trilogy where Danny Devitto wears a top hat in these three Tim Burton Movies.
Eh who are we to judge? This episode is jam packed full of bits, jokes and lots of SHOUTING! It's a lot of fun!
The boys deep dive into the filmography of these two TITANS of the silver screen, in their first Actor AND Director combo trilogy.
ENJOY!

We did it people! We got through the Vengeance Trilogy! It was grim. It was ghastly. It was BLEAK! But boy oldboy was it worth it! This week, Matt and Tyrie conclude Park Chan-wook's filmic explorations of retribution with Lady Vengeance. The boys chat about their takeaways from the film, and wonder whether the protagonist killing an innocent puppy was a bridge too far. They also discuss other BIG films from 2005, reminisce on their experience with Harold the Giraffe, and complain about disappointing school excursions.

OH BOY! It's Oldboy! Not to be confused with Broldboy... Never heard of Broldboy? Don't worry the boys cover it extensively in this very episode. They also talk about what they'd eat first if they were let out of one of those Oldboy prison hotels. And also cars made of spaghetti. That's right the boys talk about cars made out of spaghetti. Somehow. Life finds a way I guess.
Uhh... OLDBOY!

And good GOD was this first film bleak! Tune in to hear the boys argue about whether Sympathy for Mr Vengeance is a dark comedy or a terrible tragedy, why Equaliser 3 doesn't quite work, and whether they've ever sought out vengeance on anyone in their own lives...

They've got a podcast on their hands...and they don't know what to do with it!
Matt and Tyrie are back in your earholes for another week of goofs, gags and of course, their attempts at genuine film analysis. This episode, the boys take a trip to the hot and sweaty land of Mississippi to discuss the 2nd instalment of the Sidney '67 Trilogy, the cinematic and cultural juggernaut, In the Heat of the Night. Find out if Mr. Tibbs will crack the case, and more importantly, just how much gum Rod Steiger had to chew to get his Oscar!

Bottom of the ninth. Bases loaded. Can Matt and Tyrie record a perfect podcast? No, probably not. But that's okay because as the boys discuss, For Love of the Game is far from a perfect film. The new baseball fans chat about the great but underused cast, the painfully long runtime, and how Billy Chapel is well, a jerk! Also, they do their rankings and announce the 15th unofficial trilogy - starting next week!

This week, we're rounding 2nd base of the Curveball Costner Trilogy with one of the most sentimental, genuine, and corn-filled movies of all time; Shoeless Joe...I mean, Field of Dreams! Matt and Tyrie discuss what American sport they would have played poorly (it's all of them), the incredible true story of how the FoD crew grew such tall corn in the worst droughts since the Dustbowl, and the incredible chemistry between Costner and James 'Jimmy' Earl Jones. Join us next week as we attempt to round 3rd base and steal home!

"The world is made for people who aren't cursed with self awareness"
It's also made for Tripod fans because boy howdy do we have a treat for them - It's a new episode of Tripod. This week we kick start The Curveball Costner Trilogy; three films starring Kevin Costner playing baseball! First up at bat is Bull Durham (1988) a sports film classic that some would say is the best sports film ever made (not Matt though, but more on that later.)
The boys also have a guest: Patrick Whelan! The man who actually came up with this trilogy :0
Sports fans and Film fans unite! This is a trilogy you can all enjoy!

It's a cool title, it's a cool concept, it's the final instalment of The Apocalypse Trilogy: 1994's In the Mouth of Madness! That's right the Tripod boys are once again going beyond the pale of rational proportionality to bring an in depth breakdown on this 90's horror classic.
In this ep, Matt deep dives into the exploits of writer Michael De Luca, Tyrie get's some cool insider information from an old friend, and they answer the one thing everyone is dying to know: What is Sam Neils accent in this thing?
They also announce the next trilogy... And boy is it a curve ball...
Enjoy!

This week on Tripod the boys are talking all things El Diablo baby! This episode sees Matt and Tyrie truly lose their minds as they discuss this forgotten Carpenter classic, which may be the buggiest film ever made, and sees the literal devil defeated by the classic axe-in-mirror combo. They also discuss the best dog descriptions and a heroic pigeon named Commando. Like I said they lose their minds.

The boys discuss John Carpenters legacy as a filmmaker, Rob Bottin's amazing special effects and the difference between 70's horror and 80's horror. They also discuss of all things, Dragon Booster, Thomas the Tank Engine and they also do their best Thing impression, why not.

On this final instalment of the NSLW trilogy, the boys are joined by Dr. Georgie Harris to discuss arguably the biggest film of 2023! The trio do their best to unpack what turns out to be a really hard film to unpack, and talk about what works, what doesn't, and how our girl Greta packed so much joy, laughter and pink into every frame! Also - Matt and Tyrie announce their spooky 13th trilogy!

We also talk about our own siblings, Joker (somehow), and evolution of Gerwig's style.

This week on Tripod, Matt and Tyrie dive into the wonderful world of Greta "Great" Gerwig with her debut smash hit, Lady Bird. The boys are joined by filmmaker Nissa Mitchell to talk about how this indie darling changed the game, why it stands out amongst the other coming of age films or its era, and how weird it is to see Timothée Chalamet as a side character.
