My podcasts are unscripted with no agenda. I am really interested in listening to people, understanding their experience and sharing their wisdom: people who have done interesting things or have a different perspective. As a coach and consultant the more you learn from other people, the better you can serve and support individuals and organisations with insights and experience, not just your own, but other people's also.

I have been really looking forward to this podcast with Jason Butler, a professional artist renowned for his captivating portraits. His ongoing project, 'Islanders', delves into the depth and diversity of human character through his exquisite brushwork.

Jason's artistic journey has been nothing short of remarkable. With works displayed thrice at the prestigious National Portrait Gallery in London, his talent has garnered widespread acclaim. You can explore his captivating creations on his website www.jasonbutlerartist.com and on Instagram - @jasonbutlerportraits/ @jasonbutler1970.

What sets Jason apart is not just his technical prowess but also his deep engagement with communities. He's left an indelible mark in Jersey, commemorating significant events such as the Queen's visit and the 350th anniversary celebrations of the Royal Mace. His paintings, adorning the atrium of the States Chambers, stand as testaments to his artistry and dedication.

Beyond accolades, Jason's collaborations with organizations like the Mines Awareness Trust reveal his commitment to social causes. His exhibitions following his visit to Rwanda underscore his ability to infuse art with poignant narratives. A graduate of Bristol Art College and Cheltenham Art College, Jason's journey is a testament to his passion for painting and drawing.

This podcast was truly fascinating. Initially, I never anticipated an artist's workshop to resemble a gym, yet Jason's unique blend of creativity and self-care is utterly intriguing. His approach to art is refreshingly professional, diverging from the expected emotional stereotype often associated with artists. What captivated me most were Jason's perspectives on the world and his methodical approach to his craft. Exploring themes and techniques, such as his focus on figures and portraits, shed light on the depth of his artistic vision.

Engaging in a lengthy conversation with Jason was a genuine exploration for me. I found his insights truly surprising and illuminating. For anyone seeking a valuable and unexpected journey into the mind of an artist, this podcast is a must-listen. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and believe many others will find it equally enlightening.

Give it a listen and prepare to have your perceptions challenged.

Welcome to another episode of the "Adapting to Change Podcast," where we delve into creative, curious, and challenging conversations. Today, we're thrilled to have Katrijn van Oudheusden as our special guest. Katrijn is an accomplished author, known for her books "Beyond Illusion" and "Selfless Leadership," which explore the concepts of nonduality and selfless leadership in a practical, empirical manner.

Katrijn's work is centered around the idea of nonduality, an understanding that reality is undivided and whole, challenging the notion of separate selves. Her approach is unique in its empirical and direct path, emphasizing contemplation, inquiry, and higher reasoning to guide individuals toward realizing their true nature as infinite aware consciousness.

In "Beyond Illusion," Katrijn delves into the science and philosophy behind the illusion of self and the fundamental nature of reality. Her second book, "Selfless Leadership," is a practical guide with 16 inquiry-style exercises, particularly valuable for those in business and leadership roles, aiming to be of service through a deeper understanding of selflessness.

Katrijn's message is clear: the only thing stopping us from realizing our true nature is the illusion of being a separate self. By shedding this illusion, we don't lose our sense of being but gain a joyful freedom, experiencing life without the constraints of managing, improving, or protecting a separate self.

This was fun to record and very thought-provoking on the review, edit and playback. This is worth listening to more than once!

This feat not only spans her teens to her 50s but also earned her a distinguished place in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame.

Sally's dedication to swimming goes beyond personal glory. In 2016, she was awarded an MBE for her "Services To Swimming." That same year, at the age of 59, she completed a 2-way English Channel swim in 36 hours and 26 minutes, becoming the oldest swimmer to achieve this. This remarkable accomplishment was recognized by the Guinness World Records, further cementing her legacy in the world of swimming.

But Sally's impact is not limited to her own swimming achievements. She's equally passionate about teaching others to swim, from children to adults. Watching her students achieve great things in their personal lives and in the water is a source of immense joy for her. Many of her former students have gone on to complete challenging swims themselves and have become swimming teachers, spreading their enthusiasm to others.

In our conversation today, we'll delve into what drives Sally. Her story is not just about athletic prowess; it's a testament to the power of perseverance, and the impact of passing on one's passion to the next generation.

Join us as we explore the depths of Sally Minty-Gravett's inspiring journey and the ripples of impact she has created in the world of swimming and beyond.
