This episode delves into the unique experiences of our amazing guest, Lydia Chu, who grew up as a Third Culture Kid (TCK). TCKs are people who have spent a significant portion of their formative years living in cultures other than their parents' original culture - but as we've learned throughout the years, definition of a TCK can vary.
The episode explores how this multicultural upbringing has shaped the way Lydia approaches travel. We discuss topics such as cultural adaptability, global perspective, and travel style.
Thank you, Lydia, for your time and insight!

Barcelona. Venice. Paris. Amsterdam. Bali. Machu Picchu. The Great Barrier Reef. These are all popular tourist destinations - maybe even TOO popular. How has overtourism impacted a city? Is overtourism a pro or a con?
During Leah’s most recent travels to the Netherlands, she hung out with friends that lived outside of the popular, Amsterdam. A large discussion was had when they told her about the minor changes being done to prevent more overtourism in the city. This led to learning and hearing more from locals, articles, etc. about the impacts of what tourism can do for the people living there.
What are your thoughts of overtourism while traveling, and what feasible suggestion(s) do you have to help combat the negative effects of it?

Have you always wanted to try a hostel, but didn't know what to expect? Do you want to meet others while traveling across the globe? Are you a budget backpacker looking for ways to keep saving money?
This episode is your one-stop shop to perfecting the art of staying in hostels... and no, it does not happen overnight, it may not even happen in 1 year. Hostels are not what they were 20, 25, 30 years ago. These days they are more like boutique hotels that can bunk 8 or 12 people at one large room at a time!
So many perks of hostels can now include free breakfast, curtains/lockers/personal lights in each bunks, pools and spas, tours and activities, bars/gyms/restaurants on-site, coworking spaces, yoga and biking classes, movie theaters, laundry rooms, and even cafes on the ground floor! We also cover a bit of hostel culture in the USA and how it's growing and accommodating the new working traveler.
If you find this episode helpful, share it with someone who wants to try a hostel for their first time!

OUT: European Summer. IN: Latin American Summer!! Make 2024 (and every year after) the summer YOU get down to Latin America, from Central America all the way down to Patagonia in Argentina.

Leah is a seasoned Latin America travel veteran and this episode is FILLED with travel tips, stories, travel advice, flight prices, best practices, and tricks as you navigate booking a flight to anywhere in LATAM. It's like the World Cup, but for the Western Hemisphere... Copa America, that is! And it's happening in Summer 2024 in our hometown of LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
Since Leah is a longtime fan of soccer (and actually played for 8 years growing up! Until she didn't make the high school team 😞 ), and Copa America 2024 tickets are already on sale as of February 2024, we wanted to release this time sensitive episode, especially as this is only the 2nd time in the oldest tournament in the world's history that it is being held across the USA.
Copa America is like the World Cup for men's national soccer (football) teams across Latin America, lately introducing more Central American and North American teams. This travel episode will detail how to get tickets, best cities to go to in order to watch, how to travel between or in some of those cities, and more sporting event tips.
Share this episode with a friend who loves soccer (football)!

THE MOST beautiful island in the world: Palawan, The Philippines! We didn't crown it, but we truly believe it, especially with their limestone formations, white sandy beaches, clear waters, kayaking and water activities, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Palawan has received the award of "Best Island in the World" on a global level!

This episode is for those people that didn't know that you can sail between the two hot spots of El Nido and Coron, on Palawan... mainly because we recommend you have at least 4 nights available to sail the open seas, and you cushion your trip 1 night on each side in both El Nido and Coron. SO yes, we understand this excursion takes some time on your travels.
However, we this will likely be one of your favorite experiences in any island nation. Check out this sailing expedition in the Philippines for yourself! Reach out to @LAinFlight directly via IG or email (hi @ lainflight . com) if you have any questions :)
