Today's guest on the pod is Tia Levings, a writer, creator, guest expert, and content specialist. She shines light on the abuses of Christian fundamentalism and offers contextual insight into the true horrors of religious trauma. Her memoir, A Well-Trained Wife: My Escape from Christian Patriarchy, releases with St. Martin’s Press on August 6th, 2024.
Her videos on social media have millions of views. Through the lens of her personal experience, she connects entertainment, news headlines, and current events to fundamentalist influences and strategy.
She write about religious trauma and Christian fundamentalism to educate, validate, and empower those who feel smashed by the patriarchy. To create something beautiful from pain. And, because when she went through the hell of church-sanctioned violence, she felt alone and she wasn’t. There are thousands of others out there.

We are so excited to be sharing this interview with Jordan Morris today! We ramble about some current events in the intro segment but if you're wanting to jump right to the conversation you can skip to 21:33.
Jordan is a comedy writer with experience working in TV, features, comics, podcasts, digital comedy and video games!
For television he's written for shows on HBO Max, Disney Plus, Comedy Central, Cartoon Network and YouTube Originals.
For comics he created and co-wrote the 2x Eisner nominated graphic novel Bubble, based on the hit Maximum Fun podcast of the same name (also created by him!). They are currently developing a feature film based on Bubble for Sony Animation and Point Grey Productions.
His second graphic novel, Youth Group, is a YA horror-comedy out 7/16/24 from First Second Books! Available for pre-order NOW! This is the book we're primarily talking about in today's episode!
He's also written stories for Archie Comics for their Chilling Adventures line.
Jordan is a co-host of Jordan, Jesse, Go!, a totally nonsensical chat podcast with Jesse Thorn (NPR) and Free With Ads, a movie recap show with comedian Emily Fleming. You can also see him pop up semi-regularly on the hit YouTube show Good Mythical Morning as a variety of unpleasant characters.

This week we're so grateful to be sitting down with Sarah McCammon. Sarah is the author of the newly released book The Exvangelicals: Loving, Living, and Leaving the White Evangelical Church. She is a National Political Correspondent for NPR and cohost of The NPR Politics Podcast. Her work focuses on political, social and cultural divides in America, including the intersections of politics and religion, reproductive rights, and the conservative movement. She is also a frequent guest host for NPR news magazines and has appeared on the BBC, CNN, PBS, and MSNBC. During the 2016 election cycle, Sarah was NPR’s lead political reporter assigned to the Donald Trump campaign and previously reported for NPR Member stations in Georgia, Iowa, and Nebraska. She lives in Norfolk, Virginia with her husband and two children.
