He is Emeritus Professor of International Relations at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of the British Academy. Of the many books he has written about the Middle East his most recent is Three Worlds: Memoir of an Arab-Jew, published earlier this year.

Liam was one of the greatest midfield players in the history of the modern game. An Arsenal legend, he spent seven seasons in Serie A winning two Championships with Juventus.
