Serving with joy and abandonment during his military service, he embraced his role as the spiritual father of Pyoktong prison camp with the same virtues. In the face of awful conditions and inhumane treatment, Kapaun gave himself entirely to the service of his brothers, eventually dying as a consequence. His ultimate sacrifice teaches undying lessons of courage, selflessness, and joy.

Kapaun and his companions are captured and forced to march to a prison camp. They are subjected to ideological indoctrination, psychological pressure and difficult conditions in the prison camp.
