"You're going to make such a good mom someday."
This is something I heard so much growing up. I love kids and it was so easy to babysit or run a kids camp at that time of life. Then why do I feel like I'm failing at motherhood? Why don't I feel like a good mom these days? What even makes a good mom anyway?
Listen to physician mamas having such an authentic conversation about visions of motherhood vs the realities, underlying currents that affect the flow of motherhood, and what those next steps to take when you feel lost in motherhood.

Have you ever heard or been told "stop playing in the dirt, you'll get sick" or been conditioned to frequently clean with bleach & other heavy-duty cleaners, constantly keeping dirt & dust out of your home? Dirt can be viewed as gross as today's environments are becoming increasingly sterile, but a little bit of dirt might just be exactly what we need.
In this episode our in-house pediatrician breaks down several health benefits of playing outside, visiting farms & owning a pet, which are more than just stress relief from sunshine and fresh air. Digging in the dirt might be exactly what you AND your child need.

The American Academy of Pediatrics released a post on 7/30/24 reading "Tongue-Tie Procedure Not Recommended". It refers to their new guidelines recently released on recommendations for treating tongue-tie. As two physician moms who have expertise in this area, we had some thoughts. Listen to this episode for our expert review of the new guidelines.
We are both Doctor's of Osteopathic Medicine, meaning throughout our physician medical training we had additional hands-on training focusing on the movement patterns of bodily tissues - including the mouth! Andrea even had further training in osteopathic manual medicine, most recently focusing her clinical practice on mothers and babies often treating oral motor dysfunctions adjunctively. As a pediatrician, Kristin has also dealt with tongue-ties.

If you're looking to improve your postpartum recovery or you've found yourself at a halt in your healing process, this episode is what you need. Postpartum recovery is deeply influenced by the movement patterns you are exposed to, those patterns being detrimental or advantageous in your recovery. Your movement patterns after birth are often drastically different from the movement patterns pre-birth, think "caretaking postures" like holding baby, nursing baby, bent over to change diapers... etc and there are ways to modify these movements, encouraging a healthier recovery.
In this episode, movement expert Amy Baumgarten reveals the foundations to her holistic movement practices for postpartum recovery movement. She is the founder of HomeBody, a movement approach that offers sustainable strength coaching to bodies in various stages of healing, and a certified INNATE traditional postpartum care provider and Infant Developmental Movement Educator.
Amy's virtual course for postpartum bodies helps restore deep core strength, reconnect to the power of their bodies, and celebrate the new identity of mother, parent, or caretaker. She is able to provide 360 degree support to a new mothers and babies, as they explore their new bodies after the birth experience.
Our next episode, Motherhood Movement Part 2: Infant Developmental Movement Education (IDME) with Amy Baumgarter, will dive deeper into her expertise in infant developmental movement.

Even as physician moms who went to the same exact medical school, we had very different views on infant sleep. We started out on polar opposite camps of the "safe sleep vs bed sharing" spectrum but spoiler alert, we have both drifted into the grey zones. Sleep is commonly not as black and white as we envision or hope - that's why we recorded this episode! We want to shed light on the in-between options. We are so passionate about this topic, that we created a Sleep Safety Basics handout to visually lay out the pros and cons to different sleep options and are offering it to you for FREE.
