A discussion on the difference between Reiki and Meditation. Meditation is a mind based practice whereas Reiki is energy based and doesn't necessarily include the mind and its activities. The outcomes can be very similar and the way I talk about it probably sounds quite similar as my interest often combines the two.

Often in the wellness and spiritual growth rhetoric is the idea that we can Reiki ourselves into a state where nothing bad ever happens to us. This is Unicorn thinking. Reiki brings balance and acceptance into our lives and helps us connect with our inner essence, that which is never disturbed by anything either good or bad.

When we don't take time to discipline and control our thinking, it becomes more and more unruly and we end up being controlled by our thinking pulling and pushing us into the past and future. Mindfulness is the method of practice and training that ultimately leads us to living in the present moment more fully and consciously. This also leads to more peace, energy, capacity and resilience to face any challenges that may come up instead of worrying.
