  • I thoroughly enjoy taking deep dives with experts in the realm of quantum and circadian biology. It's one of the few times I get to truly geek out on some of the nuances of mitochondria and how light, water and magnetism impacts our wellness and longevity. Today's guest, Oksana Hansen, ticks all of those boxes and then some, as she has quite the origin story and health journey that led her to becoming a quantum and circadian health expert and, ultimately, a quantum clinician. So not only can she speak from didactic knowledge, but she can also pull from her experience treating clients.Oksana’s personal health challenges, including a cancer diagnosis, led her to become an advocate for her own health. This experience propelled her into extensive research, focusing on understanding the root causes of health issues rather than merely addressing symptoms. Her exploration into quantum and circadian biology highlighted the significance of aligning with natural biological rhythms for overall well-being.In addition to her role at Quantum Lens Wellness, Oksana hosts the “Quantum Lens Podcast,” where she discusses topics related to quantum biology, circadian rhythms, and holistic health practices.Through her work, Oksana Hansen continues to inspire and guide individuals towards achieving optimal health by harmonizing with the natural elements of light, water, and magnetism. If you found the information in today's episode with Oksana Hansen particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • More often than not on this podcast, we have the privilege of listening to and learning from health, wellness, biohacking, longevity experts talk about the latest research, health hacks, books, projects, conferences, stories/anecdotes, clinical experience, etc. And there is so much to glean from those episodes and practical applications for your own wellness regimens. Today's episode with former NFL player, Landon Cohen, provides a very well-rounded conversation on health and wellness from a very unique perspective and from someone that was literally in the trenches as a pro football player. While Landon is a wildly successful entrepreneur today, which is a grind in its own right, his days as an NFL defensive lineman (and, of course, the years and year of collegiate and high school football) took a major toll on his body and, even more so, his mind and brain. This is secondary to the perpetual banging of pads and helmets every single play between the offensive and defensive lineman. Being drafted in 2008, Landon played in an era where the repercussions of concussions was not yet on the radar in football. Fast forward to early last year, Landon was recommended by a friend to try some BioBlue and red light therapy to see if it would help with his post-NFL body and mind. According to Landon, BioBlue played a major role in regaining his sharp mind and cognition/focus, while the red light therapy (combined with the BioBlue) helped reduce so lingering aches and pains. Needless to say, he is a massive advocate of both modalities.Along with discussing his experience with MB and RLT, Landon talks about the differences between his health and wellness mindset as an NFL player vs. his mindset in his post-NFL life, his desire and motivation to live a "clean lifestyle", how/why he wakes up around 3 every morning to start his day, his viewpoints on diet/food and some other fun topics, such as crypto, blockchain, AI and much, much more!If you found the information in today's episode with Landon Cohen particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • Red light therapy and eye health always seems to be a hot topic and somewhat polarizing. On one side, there is all of this amazing photobiomodulation research demonstrating the eye health benefits via RLT. On the other hand, aren't you supposed to wear protective goggles when you do your red light therapy?I discuss my thoughts on the above, and more, when I dive into today's first study that looks at red light therapy for low-to-moderate myopia. I also discuss the physiology and pathology that leads to early onset (and, by nature, full blown) myopia. Hint, hint — blue light may play a critical role. I outline what I would do for an eye treatment and provide insight as to what someone should consider in a device if eye health is the main motivation. In the second article that is hot sizzling off the press, we take a special detour to look at the impact of violet light and its photobiomodulation effects on depression. There is some fun rabbit holes secondary to this study, such as learning the impact of violet light for circadian rhythm, the role of OPN5 (a special neuropsin that plays a role in depression) and much more!If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • Did you know that the metal filling in your mouth essentially functions as an antenna for nnEMFs (i.e. cell phones)? That's not good for your mitochondria. And if you have a mercury filling, did you know that every time you chew food you are causing mercury vapor to be released that you then breathe in? Think of all the deleterious effects from those two instances along.Every time I talk to biological dentists, I am always impressed with just how much our oral cavity impacts our entire system; and today's conversation with brother biological dentists from Smilebody, Dr. Ben Javid and Dr. Shawn Javid, is another insightful look into how and why we need to be taking our oral hygiene and health more seriously for overall wellness.Countless people are dealing with brain fog, cardiac dysfunction, low back pain, hormonal issues and so much more than can be directly tied to an underlying root cause issue in their mouth that has never been considered. Many of the aforementioned issues are "patched up" with drugs, surgeries, and other modalities — even something like red light therapy — that may help stem the tide or provide temporary relief, but not attack the root cause of something like a cavitation, infected root canal, metal dental work in the mouth, an infected jaw bone or leaky gums. The Javid brothers founded their renowned holistic dental practice, Smilebody, in Los Angeles where they have patients that fly in from all over the country because of their impeccable skillset as biological dentists and also because of their unique knowledge base and perspective that allows them to embody a whole-body paradigm versus treating the oral cavity in isolation. Their incorporation of effective, efficacious biohacking modalities also lends their clientele to receiving an unparalleled, comprehensive treatment. If you found the information in today's episode with Dr. Ben & Shawn Javid particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • It's been awhile since we've gotten back to our roots on this podcast by reviewing some red light therapy research. By happenstance, both studies are concerning the oral cavity. The first article looks at photobiomodulation's effect on dentin hypersensitivity (one big reason why I wish I had RLT back when I was a kid!). The second study looks at various wavelengths, amongst red and NIR light, to see their impact on penetrating the tooth and, ultimately, having an effect on the dental pulp. Before we talk about the research in today's episode, I do review the newest, updated version of the BioBlue Capsules. While there are no changes relative to the recipe of those supplements, there has been an improvement with how the supplement is produced that drastically alters the color of the capsules and likely improves its delivery to the body.Lastly, I wanted to cover an amazing testimonial that we received about our BioBlue Leuco products and how it completely abolished a customer's IBS symptoms. The interesting part is that they were initially using the supplement in an effort to mitigate and reverse eyesight issues. In the end, they were pleasantly surprised and pleased with the life-changing results they received when their chronic IBS disappeared. While there isn't much research on MB or leucoMB on gut health, it does makes sense that this person saw positive results, as we do have plenty of mitochondrion living in our gut. Mitochondria did evolve from bacteria after all! If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • Some of the best health strategies are the most simple and basic; unfortunately, it's the simplicity that makes them easy to quickly overlook and undervalue. As much as I love reading the newest books and most up-to-date research to stay on the leading edge of wellness and longevity, I also believe that some of the most treasured information can be obtained from hidden gems from times of yore. Even some of the most prolific research on how light impacts our health originates from the 40s, 50s and 60s, thanks to John Ott (remember those solosodes, long-time listeners?!). Not to mention, some of the most reliable health and medical strategies were produced from our ancestors thousands of years ago via Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine, to name a couple. The best techniques and approaches inevitably stand the test of time.Enter Charles Atlas, "The World's Most Perfectly Developed Man," who was a veritable biohacker way back in the early 1900s — multiple generations before the term came into use. And don't worry, this episode isn't about bodybuilding or necessarily about perfecting our physique. Rather, Charles Atlas created a program in the 1920s - 1940s that consists of a dozen separate lessons where each lesson goes over various health and wellness strategies; ranging from the mental, to the physical, to diet, to the importance of "building magnetism" and much more. In today's episode, I want to go over those approaches that I felt would be interesting and relevant to you all.Charles Atlas (born Angelo Siciliano; October 30, 1892 – December 24, 1972) was an Italian-American bodybuilder, entrepreneur, and fitness pioneer. He is best known for his mail-order fitness program and for being dubbed “The World’s Most Perfectly Developed Man.” Atlas claimed he was inspired to change his body after seeing statues of Greek and Roman gods at the Brooklyn Museum. His fitness philosophy emphasized health, strength, and self-confidence. Atlas is considered a pioneer in promoting fitness to the general public and is often credited with sparking the modern fitness culture. He was an advocate for a healthy diet and a clean lifestyle. If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • By now, many of you have heard of my coined term, The Mitochondrial Triad, which comprises the three most effective and efficacious ways (in my opinion) to optimize mitochondrial function. At the end of the day, mitochondrial function is the foundation of wellness and longevity until proven otherwise. With that being said, The Triad is not set in stone and is fluid based on new information, research, etc., meaning it could grow to a quad, quint and beyond. However, it would take a powerful modality, molecule, etc. with rigorous studies to make the cut. But by the end of today's conversation with renowned pharmacist and author, Dr. Nayan Patel, the case can be made that glutathione should be heavily considered. The kicker with glutathione is that we produce it endogenously, so we have some control over its abundance or depletion in our body. After all, it is the master antioxidant in our body and quenches oxidative stress, so given its powerful electron-donating properties (similar, but not exactly the same as methylene blue and C60), you can imagine the health benefits it provides when at proper levels and what happens when our body is depleted.Dr. Patel is a sought after pharmacist, wellness expert, and thought leader in his industry. He has been working with physicians since 1999 to custom develop medication for their clients and design a patient-specific drug and nutrition regimen. He has been the pharmacist of choice to celebrities, CEOs and physicians themselves. He recently published his first comprehensive book, The Glutathione Revolution. After 11 years of clinical research on the master antioxidant, glutathione, Dr. Patel and his team developed a patented technology to deliver glutathione topically, changing the game on how best to absorb GSH systemically. From this technology he additionally developed The Auro GSH Antioxidant Delivery System to create a skincare line to deliver antioxidants more efficiently and effectively than ever before at potent concentrations. If you found the information in today's episode with Dr. Nayan Patel particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • Now that we have flipped the calendar to 2025, it's traditional to make resolutions — or more so, well-intentioned goals that fizzle out by the end of the first or second month of the year. Sound familiar? In fact, researchers suggest that only 9% of Americans that make resolutions complete them. Not surprisingly, about 50% of New Year's resolutions are centered around weight loss goals.Weight loss any time of the year can be a difficult, seemingly elusive aspiration. And with as many diet and health books that are published yearly, you would expect someone to have cracked the code to the holy grail of simple weight loss. Unfortunately, rates of being overweight and obese continue to trend up, up and away, particularly in the US. Is this a health problem that can be tackled by optimizing mitochondrial function? The answer is.... a resounding, YES!From a mitochondrial health perspective, effective weight loss strategies focus on enhancing mitochondrial function, increasing energy production, and improving metabolic flexibility. Healthy mitochondria play a crucial role in fat oxidation, energy efficiency, and metabolic balance. In today's episode, I review the mitochondrial benefits of a 24-hour fast, take a deep dive into (the virtually unknown hormone) leptin and its profound impact on weight management and then finish with the top 10 weight loss strategies from a mitochondrial perspective. If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • This is the third and final top episode of 2024 I wanted to share with you all. Happy New Year and enjoy this amazing conversation with Sarah Kleiner!

    -

I jump at any chance I get to listen, learn and converse with an expert in the area of circadian and quantum health. Luckily, one of my favorite educators in this domain, Sarah Kleiner, was available to sit down for an engaging chat. Sarah is phenomenal at breaking down rather complex subjects and lucidly explaining the "low hanging fruit" of quantum health with such simplicity, even a cave man could do it! Yes, pun intended. In today's conversation, we cover an array of topics ranging from morning routines and sun exposure to the importance of eating breakfast and leptin sensitivity to red light therapy's impact on wellness to the role of mitochondria in quantum health to a relatively new theory showing that deuterium-depleted water may be a more important end-product of oxidative phosphorylation than ATP (yes, that token of energy)... and much, much more!Sarah Kleiner is a Quantum Health Coach with the Quantum Biology Collective (levels 1 & 2), a Certified Nutrition Coach with NASM, and just completed the New Biology Curriculum with Dr. Tom Cowan. Sarah has over 14 years of experience working one on one with clients to optimize nutrition, lifestyle & mindset. Her goal is to shift the paradigm when it comes to circadian rhythms, health & light, and help people integrate these principles into their lives in a modern world. As I mention in this episode, Sarah has a monumental archive of quantum and circadian health education on her Instagram feed (@sarahkleinerwellness) that you could spend days and days sifting through and learning to your heart's content.... which I highly, highly recommend you do. She also has amazing free education and deeper dives via her courses that can be found on her website (link can be found in the podcast show notes).I hope you enjoy the conversation today with Sarah Kleiner. • Here is another top episode from this past amazing year of podcast guests on The Red Light Report!

    -

As methylene blue becomes more and more popular, it becomes paramount to seek out and learn from trusted sources and experts in the area. Luckily, I was able to sit down and have a fireside chat with the highly-respected and sought out osteopathic family physician, Dr. Yoshi Rahm. What I appreciate about Dr. Yoshi is that he not only speaks about methylene blue from a high-level, didactic perspective, but he can offer invaluable insight and wisdom since he utilizes IV methylene blue with his patients in his clinic. What Dr. Yoshi really drives home about methylene blue is really just how safe it is, even at doses much higher than you would expect! Thanks to our mutual connection of Dr. Katie Carter, whom plays host in this episode and suggested that Dr. Yoshi and I meet and discuss all things methylene blue, we have an engaging and spirited discussion about methylene blue and also leucomethylene blue, which Dr. Yoshi was less familiar with due to their being a lack of available product on the market (until BioBlue Leuco!). We also cover other topics, such as the new RLT treatment protocol ecosystem I am about to release and why I believe it will become a ubiquitous tool and resource for anyone and everyone that utilizes red light therapy. My hope is that you come away from this conversation with more excitement, belief and/or trust in methylene blue after listening and learning from Dr. Yoshi. He is a wealth of knowledge and I have no doubt we will be having more of these conversations on the podcast in the future.I hope you enjoy the conversation today with Dr. Yoshi Rahm. Please share this episode with family, friends and colleagues if you find the content especially interesting and/or impactful.

  • Over the next week or so, I wanted to reshare the top several episodes of 2024! These are essentially "voted on" by you, the listeners, based on the episodes that had the most downloads over the course of the past calendar year. For longtime listeners of the podcast, I think this will be a welcomed revisit of the compelling, invigorating conversations had with these guests; for newer listeners of The Red Light Report, you are undoubtedly in for a treat. Sit back, relax and enjoy learning from some of the best minds and thought leaders in the wellness and longevity spaces!-

The more and more I learn about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture, the more I am intrigued and it just makes intuitive sense. It also helps when you learn this deep and complex knowledge from someone as intelligent and articulate as (now) three-time guest, Dr. Chris Motley. Long-time listeners of the show are familiar with Dr. Motley and his amazing command and intuition when it comes to TCM and other holistic modalities; new listeners.... you are in for a treat! He is by far one of my favorite humans to talk with, on and off the mic. Dr. Motley not only speaks from his depth of learning the information, but even more so from hands-on experience from his full day's of treating patients. During our conversation today, he details some fascinating discoveries he's made via experimenting with red light therapy and acupuncture points; he has observed some profound results particularly with viruses! • We have finally arrived at the third and concluding segment of The Mitochondrial Presentation, which covers carbon 60 (i.e., C60, Buckminsterfullerene, & ESS60). Compared to our two preceding mitochondrial modalities of red light therapy and methylene blue, C60 has been in the human purview for a far shorter timeline. However, don't let that short duration fool you, as C60 has been the focal point of the most sensational longevity study in scientific history. If a molecule or a health habit improves lifespan by 10 or 20%, that is considered quite impressive and noteworthy. In that pivotal 2012 Paris study, C60 improved the lifespan of rats by an unprecedented 90%! Last week, I covered one of my favorite mitochondrial topics at length: methylene blue (MB). The deep dive covered the history of MB, along with the mechanisms, benefits and considerations surrounding MB. In a similar arrangement, I will be covering the same topics of history, mechanisms, benefits and considerations relative to C60. Also, I provide some exclusive information, revealing just how unfortunate and disconcerting the quality of C60 supplements are that you will find on the market. Some contain ZERO carbon 60! That's why quality and buying from a trusted source is a must.If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. Sharing is caring :)As always, light up your health!-Key Points:

  • In today's episode, we will pick up where we left off last week during my "podcast" presentation of The Mitochondrial Triad lecture I gave last month in Rome. Undoubtedly, you are getting more nuggets of wisdom in this podcast version, as I am able to go down various rabbit holes and dig deeper into the details since there are no time constraints. For example, today's episode that is entirely on the topic of methylene blue is longer in duration than my entire presentation at the symposium in Rome. Last week, I covered the first two topics of my talk: mitochondria (i.e., why they are important for health and why mitochondrial dysfunction is the bane of wellness and healthspan) and red light therapy. This week, again, we will cover the topic of methylene blue (MB) in great depth; including the history of MB, the mechanisms of MB, the health benefits and correlative research on MB, and considerations surrounding MB for those deliberating the potential use of MB for their health and wellness goals. With that being said, make sure your brain is full of flowing electrons and buckle up for an information-packed episode! If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • Last month I was invited to speak at a functional medicine symposium in Rome, Italy. This is the same conference where I gave an in-depth presentation explicitly on photobiomodulation two years prior. This time around, I spoke on the term/theory I have coined: The Mitochondrial Triad. As many of you know by this point, this Triad is, what I believe to be at this point in time based on the information I have gathered, the three most efficient and efficacious ways to boost your mitochondrial function: red light therapy, methylene blue and carbon 60. The presentation I gave first explained why the mitochondria are the focal point of this Triad and justified why the crux of modern health and disease is predicated on mitochondrial function; or said another way, why mitigating and preventing mitochondrial dysfunction is the ultimate goal of wellness and longevity. The subsequent sections of the presentation are on RLT, MB and C60 and how they positively impact the mitochondria and, thus, can positively affect the vast majority of diseases and cancers. So for today's episode, I decided to provide you with a front row seat to my presentation. Not a recording of the one I gave in Rome, but a personal The Red Light Report rendition, which has ended up being more comprehensive and detailed. Sit back and enjoy the first half of my presentation, which covers the impact of mitochondria on our overall health and red light therapy. If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • When you jump into the world of carbon 60 (C60), you quickly become hooked because of its many health benefits and positive impact on mitochondrial function; however, the proverbial hook, line and sinker that perks up people's ears are its profound potential for longevity. Look no further than my previous discussion with C60 manufacturer and leading expert, Chris Burres, where he details the unprecedented longevity research results where rats lived 90% longer when consuming C60 mixed in olive oil!If you're like me, you look for high-quality information on such an exciting topic — particularly well written books. Long story short, there is a dearth of texts on C60 out there. But today's guest, Chris Campbell, is the author of one of those books: C60 Science: The God Molecule Hypothesis. And it's not just "another" book, Chris's take on C60 is very unique, yet exceptionally compelling. In his book, he takes deep rabbit holes into the history of C60 not just on earth, but in outer space where he posits C60 may have played a role in brining life to our planet. He also has unique insights into the special geometry of buckminsterfullerene (i.e., C60) and its potential quantum biology characteristics.During today's conversation, Chris discusses the many topics from his book, including what The God Molecule Hypothesis means, the various properties and potentials of C60, his thoughts on C60 supplements, the potential of safely integrating C60 into water and much more!If you found the information in today's episode with Chris Campbell particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. • For quite some time now, ever since entering the world of red light therapy — but particularly when getting into the realm of methylene blue — I've wondered what nitric oxide's true impact on our body and wellness is. For the vast majority of my life, I was under the belief that all nitric oxide = good. That was ingrained at an early age with the countless pre-workout supplements I was taking during my heavy lifting days during high school through college. But it didn't stop there. The message of nitric oxide = good and that "more is better" has been perpetuated in the wellness, and even longevity, industries by countless experts and influencers. But how is that possible if one of methylene blue's main actions is nitric oxide inhibition? How is that possible if nitric oxide is a free radical and an environmental pollutant and, thus, is effectively an "electron stealer"?For whatever reason, I have never been able to get a straight answer from anyone on this topic. But serendipitously, I was recently reading a book that provided the most clearcut and sensible explanation that would allow for nitric oxide to be both "good" and "bad". The book is Methylene Blue: Magic Bullet: The Ultimate Mitochondrial Support, by Dr. John Lieurance. As I learned from the book, it turns out that nitric oxide is quite similar to how inflammation can be both a positive and a negative for our physiology; but with some additional nuances through in there. Today's episode is about nitric oxide and the roles it plays in our wellness and what the best strategies are for best harnessing the "good" nitric oxide while downregulating the "bad" nitric oxide. • There are undeniable health benefits when it comes the methylene blue; most notably, its profound impact on the mitochondria. Secondary to that, people are understandably going to be excited and compelled to seek out a methylene blue supplement to start accruing those advantages. And as with any supplement... the quality matters! When it comes to the quality of methylene blue for human consumption, it is incredibly imperative. The fact of the matter is that supplements can say that they utilize USP grade methylene blue, yet the lab results still show heavy metals — like mercury, lead and others — can still be higher than what you want to put in your body. I discuss this issue, which is likely more prevalent than we would all like to believe. However, it does verify the high-quality, ultra-pure methylene blue and leucomethylene blue that is sourced for BioBlue products. I also cover two very interesting photobiomodulation research articles that look at unique aspects, and potential benefits, of red light therapy that have not been discussed before. The first article looks at osteoporosis in individuals with complete spinal cord injuries. However, the profound takeaway from that study is about serum vitamin D levels. The second study sheds light on photobiomodulation's impact on blood glucose levels. If more research can verify what was found, the demand for red light therapy will skyrocket (via pre-diabetics and diabetics). If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge.
