This week we’re joined from the road by Hands Like Houses frontman Josh Raven as the group crosses the country on select regional dates with heavy icons The Butterfly Effect.
Josh opens up about his initial trepidation at joining an already established band, after years spent at the helm of Perth rockers The Faim, along with the creative freedom and boundary pushing sessions that led to ‘ATMOSPHERICS’: the group’s ambitious 16-track double album, featuring previously released tracks from four distinct EPs (out now through Civilians).
We chat about being your own worst critic, unlocking new vocal talents, overcoming performance anxiety, and finally getting to the bottom of what’s up with chemtrails.

🔥 Here’s our brief chat withChris Cresswell ofThe Flatliners andHot Water Music 🔥
We were fortunate enough to have some time with the affable Chris Cresswell–guitarist and vocalist for The Flatliners and Hot Water Music–as he prepares to pull double duty for both acts on their upcoming New Zealand and Australian tour run later this month.
Chris chats to us about first touring with and then eventually joining an iconic band that was a direct influence on his music and punk rocker journey. We discuss the creative process behind 2024’s phenomenal ‘Vows,’ the art of playing back-to-back sets, and his surreal Venn diagram of friends and collaborators.

This week we’re joined by none other than Brendan Murphy–infamous tweet sender, feline aficionado, stage yeller, esteemed metalcore scholar–of Counterparts & END, ahead of their return Down Under with Dying Wish.
Brendan gets real about how touring takes him away from his beloved animal companions, his enlightened journey with sobriety, writing with newfound creative focus, forging a cohesive narrative of pain and loss on ‘Heaven Let Them Die’ (out now through Pure Noise Records), the joys of Reddit AMA’s, and why he’ll miss Misery Signals (RIP) the most.

This week we’re joined by Windwaker frontman and all-round good bloke Lian Guinane to get the downlow on the group’s latest release: a deluxe version of last year’s sophomore smash LP, ‘Hyperviolence: Expansion Pack,’ out on Friday 14th through Fearless Records/Civilians.
Liam chats with us about the band’s latest material from the initial ‘Hyperviolence’ sessions, overcoming self-doubt, pushing creative boundaries, and touring throughout North America last year with fellow Aussie heavy hitters Northlane and Thornhill.

Cursed sickness and poor hotel wi-fi be damned. We made it, folks. Owen & Paige bring this week’s extremely tardy Roundup to you live from the cuck chairs of their Vegas casino hotel room. We’ve got emotionally charged hardcore, “the last ever deathcore band,” Finnish doom-gaze, and skull-splitting Aussie brutal death/slam. Dive in and maybe we’ll survive the trip home 🙏🏼

On their stellar third album, ‘TOY’ (out now through Domestic La La), Dear Seattle are wrestling with change. It’s a record born from transitional states of self-reflection, where recollections of who we were collide head-on with who we want, often desperately, to be.
Joining the show for our first guest episode of 2025, frontman and guitarist Brae Fisher takes us on the journey that birthed ‘TOY,’ as we discuss the band’s road dog attitude and live pursuits, stripping Taylor Swift songs for parts, and leaning into the delicate tradecraft of anthemic songwriting.

It’s our final episode for 2024, and what better way to go out than with a Good Things Festival supercut featuring artist interviews and backstage shenanigans with Frank Turner, Northlane, Belle Haven, and Alpha Wolf.
We chat about their year highlights, the realities of touring, pushing the creative envelope, and how to best channel that all-important chaos energy.
Shout out to Frank, Marcus, David, Lochie and Mitch for coming on the show; to Janine, Tiana, Amy, Court, Sose and the Good Things crew for all their help on festival day.

For our final guest episode of 2024, we’re joined by Mitch Alexander, media personality, political activist, and vocalist for Naarm/Melbourne metallers Eye of the Enemy.
Mitch gives us the lowdown on the quintet’s new four-track concept EP, ‘Only Equals Negotiate,’ and how his fiery lyrics articulate the historical contingency and material dimensions of power, revolution, and collective action. We also chat about band indignities, the tension between performance and authenticity, his creative process, and why George R.R. Martin should just write the goddamn books already.

Returning Down Under for the first time in nearly a decade as part of 2024’s incredibly stacked Good Things lineup (Dec 6th-8th), Benny Horowitz, drummer for The Gaslight Anthem and co-host of the Going Off Track podcast, joins the show to chat about the band's comeback.
We discuss their recent international tour run for their seminal record, ‘The ‘59 Sound,’ hitting anniversary milestones for 2012’s ‘Handwritten’ and 2014’s ‘Get Hurt,’ reforming post-hiatus, consciously avoiding the nostalgia trap, and the creative potential for new music.

We were lucky enough to grab some backstage time with Claudio Sanchez–guitarist, lyricist, author, and principal songwriter for Coheed and Cambria and The Prize Fighter Inferno–while he was in Naarm/Melbourne to headline the inaugural run of the recent Monolith Festival.
Claudio chats to us about returning Down Under, the narrative tension between his overarching Amory Wars sci-fi concept storyline and real-life events, capturing the spark of inspiration while fighting against imposter syndrome, and answering questions from an unofficial (and on-the-spot) Reddit AMA thanks to the eager fans of r/TheFence.

With their return Down Under just weeks away, as part of 2024’s incredibly stacked Good Things lineup (Dec 6th-8th), Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher joins the show from the comfort of his basement studio to catch us up to date on the band’s busy schedule.
We discuss their recent Ashes of the Leviathan tour run with Lamb of God, celebrating seminal records in their respective catalogues, while also collaborating on a new single. Bill reflects on the release of 2021’s Hushed and Grim double LP, dissects his creative process, and reveals his not-so-secret vault of dormant riffs.
