  • In the last episode of the season, we talk about our experiences with kids parties with both Alberto & Rosina.

Planning kids events are stressful. Inviting the right amount of people, ensuring both adults and kids are entertained and trying to ensure your child, above all else, is having fun.

We have planned big events & small and have come to a conclusion over what works for us and our family. In the episode, we compare the journeys with both kids and take a glimpse over what the future with our kids and parties are.

This is the last episode of the season, we thank each and every one of you for listening to our journey so far and can't wait to show you what we have in store for Season 2. See you next year!

  • In this week's episode, we recount our experience with Alberto's food journey. He went through a fussy phase and we talk about why it happened and what we are doing to try and fix it.

It can be a daunting exercise, trying to ensure your kids are eating right. Are they getting enough fruit? Are they consuming enough vegetables? Especially when they refuse the food you are trying to provide them.

As a parent all you want to do is the best for your child, we talk about how for a period of time we feel we had let Alberto down with how we were feeding him (especially during Peta's HG journey, go back to episode 1 to listen to that).

The one thing to remember, is kids are resilient, and if you are determined and creative, as a parent you can be the ones to guide your kids to the right path.

  • In this week's episode, we talk about our journey with breastfeeding. Peta breastfed both our children and was really proud of her ability to see it through.

The school of thought in modern times is "fed is best". Yes, absolutely, there is truth to that, especially when there are understandable reasons, such as milk not coming in or other medical rationale, but if you are willing, capable and determined, there is no substitute for breast milk.

In the episode, we explore what our initial ideas about breastfeeding were and the uncertainty that comes with it, before exploring the differences between Alberto & Rosina's journeys and how breastfeeding changes over time.

Overall, breastfeeding is hard, absolute props for the mothers out there that give it a go and even if you are able to do it for a few weeks to a month, it's a special thing to be able to do for your kids.

  • In this week's episode, look back on the process we took to name our children.

With Daniel coming from a prominent Italian background, there was a strong desire to carry the Italian tradition in choosing names within the family and keeping it traditional.

In the episode, we talk about our naming beliefs and take a trip down memory lane and look at how names are traditionally given in Italian culture. We also use that as a base for how we wanted to name our children.

It's fun, light hearted and definitely not the opposite of a vibe.

  • In this week's episode, we sit down to talk about our efforts to socialise with other families.

When you become a parent, you imagine a lifetime of family friends with kids around a similar age to grow up with, but the reality of making that happen is much harder in modern society than it used to be.

Throughout the episode, we explore the ways we have to tried to find other families, how our kids are at socialising and how we've finally found something we think can help us find families to holiday with.

  • In this week's episode, we chat about our kids relationship with technology and our efforts to limit their screen time.

Our goal before we had children was to not give our kids devices to entertain them when out in public or on long car rides, as we didn't want them growing up glued to a screen.

It is the number 1 promise new parents break to themselves, but we were determined to see it through as we believed it was important for their development.

We look at strategies we implemented to keep the promise we made, as well discuss the catalyst for wanting to do this in the first place.

If you too are wanting to limit your kids screen time, a resource that helped us was a book by Dr. Kristy Goodwin. Her website can be found here https://drkristygoodwin.com/

  • In this week's episode, we have a conversation about the reality of living as a Single Income family.

Peta's journey to opting to be a stay at home mum and support raising our children's lives was a series of events that has proven to be the best decision for our family.

We chat about how society as a whole is set up for dual income families, and how we firmly believed that would be our journey even after Alberto was born.

Overall, we decided that Peta being a stay at home mum would be our family dynamic, and it has really set us on a good path to where we are today. If you are interested in becoming a Single Income family yourself, we give some of our top tips right at the end.

  • In this week's episode, we catch up about our journey in getting our 2 children to sleep through the night.

Right from the birth of Alberto, we worked to ensure our kids had a good relationship with sleep, to ensure they are well rested and ready to face the day.

Both Alberto & Rosina are now in a consistent and healthy place with sleeping through the night in their own rooms without issue.

A big part of our success with our kids sleeping was implementing the check and console method. It can be hard to get through it, but the rewards are fruitful, short term pain for a long term gain as they say.

  • In this week's episode, we reflect on how we landed at living a more minimalist lifestyle with 2 kids. We also chat about the resistance we faced and how living this way has upgraded our way of life.

After Peta's HG experience we turned everything upside down and sold our large family home and downsized to a more carefree existence in a 2 bedroom coastal apartment near the beach.

We chat about the lifestyle upgrade it has provided us as well as how we manage it with 2 kids sharing a bedroom.

After our discussion in this episode, we set about finding resources to help you on your own minimalism path extra to our tips already provided. This link below, was something that really resonated with us:
