Racing to cross off all the things on your to do list is a bit like trying to climb a mountain only to find there is another mountain on the other side.
When you are always longing to get to the top of the mountain, to somewhere other than where you are, the feat can feel completely insurmountable. This is what climbing Mount Kilimanjaro taught me about the journey of being a working mom and about the rush and stress that it entails.
The lessons that mountain taught me about slowing down and being present have helped guide the way I live my life today and will help you today, too!

Rush, rush, rush. Do, do, do. That’s what life as a mom and especially as a working mom feels like most of the time. But as the year comes to a close, there are a million other things to add to the already full list and it just seems like we have to run on double speed just to get through it all.
This episode gives you a chance to think about why you are rushing and what you could do instead so that you can live in a more calm, peaceful and intentional way so that you can really enjoy this season and not fall into a heap at the end of each day!

Rachel Fernandez is an anxiety management coach and the host of the Ditch Mom Anxiety podcast where she helps Christian working moms regulate their emotions by calming their nervous systems.
After struggling with debilitating anxiety through miscarriage, pregnancy, and eventual motherhood, Rachel learned the importance of supporting her nervous system with food, rest, movement, and mindset so she could show up as a present, joyful mom. She loves to help other moms find their own path to healing their anxiety so they can stop yelling, start laughing, and finally find their calm in motherhood.

How often have you tried to do things differently, either promising yourself that you wouldn’t do this thing or you would do that thing? And the day goes by and you find yourself doing exactly what you promised yourself you wouldn’t or not doing what you promised yourself you would.

As a professional and a mom, this working mom life can leave you feeling like you are literally just getting through the day, desperate for the next time you can lay your head on the pillow. I have felt like that and when we are so exhausted that we feel like we are running on fumes, it is hard to find joy and be present in this season that we keep getting told is going to go by so fast. This episode explains why you feel so tired and gives you on step you can take to make a change so that you can get more done, can be more focused and give your attention to what matters and so that you can really rest and wake up refreshed and energised for the day ahead.

As a working mom with a career you love and a home that you want to give your best to, you carry so much of the mental and emotional load of life at both places. And sometimes all you want is for someone to do what you ask of them. But when you do finally ask someone to help you, nobody listens!
‘Are their ears painted on?’ is something I often wander around muttering to myself! It is so frustrating to feel like you are not being listened to or not being heard, whether this is at work or at home.
In this conversation, I offer a few reasons why people might not be listening (explanations, NOT excuses!) and three ways that you can be more sure that you will be listened to and heard so that you can get the help you need and the results you want from those around you.

Can you remember when you had spark in your life? A time when you weren’t feeling the mom guilt you feel when you are trying to do everything, are stressed and overwhelmed but still seem to be failing?
Maybe you still do have that spark but its just a bit dimmer? Or maybe it is shining bright! Wherever you are, listen in to this episode!
Leigh Rose tells us all about why she thinks people have lost their spark and what you can do to get it back in this calm, peaceful interview where she is vulnerable about her journey into self-love and what she does to make sure that she keeps her spark and helps others to do the same.

Your attention is a most wonderful gift you can give to those around you and to yourself. It has a huge impact on your relationships and on your performance but it is also incredibly fragile. We are so easily distracted and our attention can be broken by the quickest glance at something else!
In this episode, we look at the three systems of attention and how they function to support one another and to support you as you go through your day, engaging with your work, engaging with those around you and engaging with yourself.
As a working mom, where you put your attention and how well you are able to keep it there can impact your stress, the amount of guilt you feel (because you will be so much more focused and present) and how much you can get done. Sound like a win? I think so!

Have you ever noticed how confident people appear to have so much energy? And how lacking confidence can mean that generally, or after a specific event or situation, you are left feeling exhausted?
This episode digs a little deeper into how being confident and certain allows us to do the things that give us energy and also to not do the things that deplete our energy. And when we are confident, we are more able to manage our stress, we are more resilient and we are much more able to get the results that we want.

In this vulnerable, honest coaching session, Amy wanted to find out how she could set boundaries without feeling guilty.
What it came down to was that she was trying to meet two different sets of values, one that belonged to her and one that belonged to the world.
By figuring out what her values are and what it means to live by these values, she could choose how she finds the space and time she needs while still being the mum, wife and friend that she wants to be.

As working moms, we are all after more balance. But when you think about balance, what does it mean to you? Is it two sides of a scale? Or is it balancing on a beam?
While we spend a lot of time desperately trying to find balance, I believe that there is only one way to truly create balance in your life and I talk about it in this episode today.

How often have you ‘decided’ that today/this month/this year you are going to do something and you are going to stick to it?
And by lunch time or within a week or a month, you realise that you are doing exactly what you said you weren’t going to do or you are not doing what you said you were going to do? You are not alone! Being consistent is hard for all of us and especially for us as working moms. But I want to tell you that it is NOT about willpower. It is not that you don’t have the willpower. And I also want to tell you that you CAN be consistent.
Listen to this episode to find out how!

In this hugely insightful interview with Angela Buckley, we talk about her journey of working motherhood and how she has had a very successful career while also spending real quality time with and instilling in her son the values of leadership, including the importance of community.
It was truly an honour to share this time with someone who is so clearly capable and strong and able to be vulnerable in how she leads both herself and those around her. I believe that Angela visibly showcases the elements of resilience that can allow us to stand firm and steadfast in our roles as leader at home and in the workplace.
Angela holds a doctorate in Organizational Leadership. She focuses on the intersection of adult learning theory, cultural change, change management, and structural and systems development. Her leadership consulting focuses on mindset, grit, and positive reinforcement to influence change. Angela believes the first step in becoming a leader is to learn to lead yourself: You like yourself, you trust yourself, and you set boundaries for yourself. Once you have mastered the disciplines associated with like, trust, and boundaries, you are ready to start leading others.

Every working mom I have ever talked to or worked with has told me that she struggles with being present. She finds it hard to be with her children without thinking about all she has to do and she finds it difficult to focus on her work without being distracted by the endless list running through her mind.

So listen in and take away some nuggets that can help you build better relationships and get better results today!
