  • It's News Day Tuesday! Sam and Emma break down the biggest headlines of the day. First, they run through updates on Anthony Blinken’s certification of Israel’s military integrity, the NYT’s subtle backtracking on its 10/7 article, Julien Assange, Biden’s Polling, the Francis Scott Key Bridge, Mifepristone, the Moscow Terror attack, Florida’s youth social media ban, Elon Musk’s legal battles, and RFK’s big tech donor-turned VP, before parsing through Donald Trump’s ongoing financial woes. Next, Sam and Emma look to SCOTUS as they preview their upcoming Mifepristone decision based on a 19th Century lewdity law, explore the GOP’s failing agenda, and parse through Biden’s complete obliteration of any goodwill in the eyes of the US public over the last few months. Expanding on this, they walk through Matt Miller’s disturbing comments on the US’ disregard for international law, and what is sacrificed in Biden’s all-out support for genocide in Gaza.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch James Comer try to give his Biden impeachment attempt a second life, Dave Rubin has Sam Seder flashbacks, and they discuss the growing problem of islamophobia in the US government as a Muslim judicial nomination comes into question. They talk with Marceline from PA and Ben from Flagstaff about MR’s coverage, Rachel Maddow addresses the election-denying elephant in the NBC green room, and Joe Rogan tackles the ever-relevant “cancel culture in academia” with Jonathan Haidt, plus, your calls and IMs!

The Majority Report with Sam Seder - https://majorityreportradio.com/

  • Happy Monday! Sam and Emma speak with Ingrid Robeyns, humanities professor at the Utrech University in The Netherlands, to discuss her recent book Limitarianism: The Case Against Extreme Wealth. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on the passage of a UNSC ceasefire resolution, Congress averting a government shutdown, the terror attack in Moscow, Mike Johnson’s speakership, Congress’ killing of an important internet subsidy, Donald Trump’s legal woes, Mifepristone, New Jersey’s senate race, and Ronna McDaniel’s NBC gig, before parsing through the details of the first UNSC ceasefire resolution not vetoed by the US. Professor Ingrid Robeyns then joins, diving right into the concept of “limitarianism” as a political belief that emphasizes the central importance of limiting wealth inequality and concentration in a functioning society, with the extreme stratification seen in the West (and particularly in the US) pushing severe social and political ills with little to no moral grounding. Expanding on the former, Professor Robeyns dives into the problems that arise in the relationship between money and politics under extreme inequality, with various factors, from campaign finance to political lobbying, giving a very wealthy few immense political power, before she, Sam, and Emma explore how extreme wealth concentration can give these same individuals the freedom to dictate social programs and overtake the public sphere to the detriment of everyone else, and the environment. After briefly touching on the particular role capitalism’s ills play within these issues, Ingrid walks Sam and Emma through the moral philosophical grounding of “limitarianism” as a refutation of modern society’s supposed meritocracy, bringing into question the role of the individual in coming out the victor of countless natural and social lotteries. Next, Professor Robeyns tackles the role of wealth inequality in creating an inequality division between capital and labor, allowing the former to dictate the rules of the latter, and parses through what solutions are needed – particularly in terms of welfare, social and housing programs, and unionization – to rebalance that dichotomy, before wrapping up the interview looking at the importance of taking fiscal action against tax havens and unregulated free trade, and why changing the public perception on wealth is so necessary in this battle.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma discuss Bibi’s response to the US not vetoing the UNSC ceasefire resolution, the state of Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Gaza, AOC’s direct callout of Israel’s genocide, and Chuck Todd’s direct callout of his NBC employers over their hiring of Ronna McDaniel. Fox News gears up against MTG and Matt Gaetz as another speakership coup attempt takes root against Mike Johnson, and Mike Lindell comes forward with evidence of – get this – voter fraud in 2020, plus, your IMs!

  • It's Casual Friday! And the MR Crew is doing an all CALLS & CLIPS SHOW! Then, they're joined by Jason Myles, co-host of the This Is Revolution podcast! First, Sam and Emma run through updates on the US’ faux-ceasefire resolution, the UK’s threat of an arms embargo to Israel, UNRWA funding, humanitarian assistance to Gaza, Netanyahu’s potential visit to Congress, aid to Ukraine, the GOP agenda, the DOJ’s agenda, and Bob Menendez’s why I left the left (foreign bribes), also watching Phyllis Bennis unpack exactly why the US’ faux ceasefire resolution was so pernicious. They also dive into the US media’s coverage of famine in Gaza, the balance between Democratic incompetence and Democratic malfeasance on Israel, and watch Chip Roy and Marjorie Taylor Greene initiate the most recent House GOP mutiny. After running through some highlights of the Right’s response to Trump’s massive debt to New York, Jason Myles joins, diving right into his recent article “Same as it Ever Was: The Illusion of American Political Discourse In Media,” on the faux-evolution of US political discourse alongside immaterial policy changes. Jason tackles the progression of US immigration policy from the progressive facade of the Obama Administration, through the backlash to Trump’s objectionable and visibly brutal border policy, up to Biden’s recent pivot to completely embrace the GOP and Trump’s far-right framing of the border crisis, before he, Sam, and Emma parse through parallels with the rhetoric around crime and the Defund movement.

Sam and Emma then expand on the ongoing GOP mutiny against Speaker Mike Johnson, parse through the dramatic break between Candace Owens and the Daily Wire, and bask in the complete unraveling of the GOP’s Biden inquiry, with some help from Russian collusion.

The Majority Report with Sam Seder - https://majorityreportradio.com/

  • It's another EmMajority Report Thursday! Emma speaks with John Washington, staff writer at Arizona Luminaria and contributor for The Intercept, to discuss his recent book The Case For Open Borders. Then, she's joined by Christoph N. Vogel, research director of the Insecure Livelihoods Project at Ghent University and author of the book Conflict Minerals, Inc.: War, Profit and White Saviourism in Eastern Congo, to discuss recent developments in the conflict involving the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda. First, Emma runs through updates on the US recent tiptoe toward calling for a ceasefire, Israel’s ongoing siege on Gaza, the major wins for the right in the upcoming government funding bill, Bernie and AOC’s new Green New Deal for housing, Trump’s financial woes, Julian Assange, the GOP’s Biden inquiry, the DOJ v. Apple, Bolsonaro’s falsified documents, and AMLO’s response to Texas, before parsing a little deeper through the makeup of Congress’ recent funding bill. John Washington then joins, parsing through the Democrats’ recent complete capitulation to Donald Trump’s far-right border militancy agenda, the common thread of this tactic by Democrats, and the absurdity of their rhetorical posturing alongside policy acquiescence, with a clear parallel in the politics of Mexico’s AMLO. Expanding on this, Washington and Emma tackle the political class’ commitment to the status quo on immigration, despite the relative recency (and ineffectiveness) of the shift toward closed, militarized borders, and how an argument for more humane and responsive immigration policy is still grounded in modern-day examples and is much more aligned with the rhetoric that much of the “progressive” west employs. John then dives into the economics of border militancy, with the increased precarity for migrants pushing them into more and more exploitative conditions and driving down wage and condition standards for citizens as well, with the globalization of exploitation alongside the restriction of the movement of people becoming cemented with the Free Trade Agreements of the neoliberal era. Wrapping up, Washington and Emma walk through the brutal ineffectiveness of border militancy, and what alternative visions to immigration could look like. Christoph Vogel then dives into the major problems with Western coverage of conflict in the Congo, largely employing a depoliticized, resource– and narrative-driven form of storytelling about issues with deeply political roots. After briefly touching on the role of Mobutu Sese Seko in Congolese relations to the West, Vogel walks through the three major periods of conflict in the recent history of the DRC, beginning with the rule and eventual overthrow of Mobutu in the ‘90s, the return of the DRC name under Laurent and then Joseph Kabila in the early 2000s (including the first democratic elections in 2006) during the Second Congo War, and finally the ongoing period of unstable and fracturing political and security environment, with countless militia and belligerent groups revolting and driving record displacement in the country. Expanding on the ongoing period of crisis, Vogel walks through the constant speculation and polemics around the data of the displacement and devastation by the main parties involved, and the relatively minor role resource extraction, particularly mining, has played in generating and maintaining these conflicts. Lastly, Chris Albright joins to discuss the devastating impact of last year’s environmental disaster in East Palestine, walking through the major impacts on the health of him and his community, and the lackluster response from Joe Biden and Ohio representatives, also touching on their ongoing attempt to hold the President and representatives accountable, and what those of us outside of East Palestine can do to support their cause.

And in the Fun Half: Emma is joined by Matt Binder and Brandon Sutton as they watch Karine Jean-Pierre’s callous response to a question about whether Biden will reach out to the Arab-American community, go full Freudo-Marxist on the right’s insane reaction to Kristen Stewart’s recent Rolling Stone cover, and talk with Spencer from Minnesota about the shows coverage of tort law and Johnson and Johnson’s crimes. They also parse through the abuse and exploitation of reality stars, with some help from Love is Blind’s Nick Thompson, plus, your calls and IMs!

  • It's Hump Day! Sam and Emma speak with Mark Joseph Stern, senior writer at Slate, to discuss the recent developments at the Supreme Court after new oral argument were read earlier this week. Then, they speak with Rebecca Burns, author and journalist based in Georgia, to discuss her recent piece in The American Prospect entitled "Against The Wind." First, they run through updates on yesterday’s primaries, Trump’s strong polling out of Georgia and North Carolina, Blinken’s most recent visit to the Middle East, Biden’s Israel policy, Congress’ budget, housing, and crime, before diving deep into Jared Kushner’s recent comments on the “valuable” “waterfront property” of Gaza that he recommends Israel capitalize on. Mark Joseph Stern then joins, diving right into the recent insane judicial debacle that has been the handling of Texas’ SB-4 – essentially declaring full control over immigration services – by the notoriously right-wing Fifth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the US, walking through the Fifth Circuit’s administrative stay on the decision in an attempt to prohibit SCOTUS from overturning it, and SCOTUS’ eventual decision to legally uphold the lower courts’ stay while also denouncing the further use of it, resulting in the Fifth Circuit reversing itself, with no real culmination to the issue. Next, they look at Murthy v. Missouri, an attempt by Missouri’s and Louisiana’s Attorneys General to abuse Missouri’s single-judge division by submitting a suit with major federal implications on the Government’s ability to converse with social media companies, before wrapping up with SCOTUS’ blanket disapproval of the case, and what it will mean for the future of single judge divisions. Rebecca Burns then walks Sam and Emma through the emergence of the anti-wind movement as a product of the climate-denial movement’s shift towards tactics of delay, successfully capitalizing on misinformation and the NIMBY movement to mobilize even progressive communities against wind-based renewable energy projects. Wrapping up, Burns parses through the evolution of this movement, coming to fruition in opposition to Biden’s climate agenda, the major misinformation that it has capitalized on, and how it has successfully worked to delay his major policy victories.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma walk through the major results from yesterday’s elections, including the Florida Democratic Party losing multiple mayorships in Democratic strongholds and the setup for Ohio’s senate race, before parsing through GOP candidate Bernardo Moreno’s recent statements dancing around his anti-reproductive rights platform, and what could be in store for the Senate if the GOP wins a majority in November. Donald Trump’s major financial penalties cause right-wing nutsos to panic, Lynn from California dives into the story of Nex Benedict and the state of trans wellbeing in the US, Randy from Virginia grapples with alienation and electoral politics, and Kowalski from Nebraska gives updates on agriculture and more. They also parse through the insane story of a GOP state senator’s sexual harassment on the floor of Nebraska’s unicameral legislature, plus, your calls and IMs!

The Majority Report with Sam Seder - https://majorityreportradio.com/

  • It's News Day Tuesday! Sam and Emma break down the biggest headlines of the day. But first they speak with David Dayen, executive editor at the American Prospect, to discuss his recent piece regarding The National Association of Realtors decision to end their practice of 6% agent commission sales for residential home sales. Sam and Emma run through updates on today’s primary elections, the funding of the US government, UAW expansion, the Supreme Court, Donald Trump’s financial woes, Biden’s approach to Israel’s continuing siege, and the new asbestos ban, also, Donald Trump reinforces his station as the true candidate for Jews. David Dayen then joins, parsing through the history of the real estate industry (and the National Association of Realtors) and their system of price-fixing standards via the use and abuse of commission fees to qualify for listing on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). Expanding on this, Dayen walks through last year’s class-action anti-trust suit in Missouri that saw a jury hit the National Association of Realtors with $1.8 billion in damages, as well as the copycat cases that have since cropped up across the country, resulting in a massive settlement alongside the end of the industry’s commission-based price fixing tactics, before walking through the major impacts this could have on the US housing market in terms of lower fees, greater affordability, and a weaker realty lobby. After briefly touching on what this case tells us about the growing power of anti-trust in the US, David, Sam, and Emma wrap up with Google’s continuing anti-trust problems. Sam and Emma also watch some highlights from Donald Trump’s recent rally in Ohio, and parse through the UAW’s ongoing expansion.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma parse through recent polling around the coming US election, with the majority of the country disapproving of either candidate, and the major impact that Biden pivoting to an agenda based around Social Security and Medicare could have, in contrast with the genuinely negative impact Biden’s immigration pivot has had. They also watch the lowlights from Don Lemon’s “hard-hitting” interview that had Elon Musk so unsettled, hear from Musk’s value-tainment sycophants, and talk with Brendan from Washington about the Optum RX hack. Tim Pool struggles to avoid talking about Israel, plus, your calls and IMs!

The Majority Report with Sam Seder - https://majorityreportradio.com/

  • Happy Monday! Sam and Emma speak with David Bellos, professor of Comparative Literature at Princeton University, to discuss his recent book Who Owns This Sentence?: A History of Copyrights and Wrongs, co-authored with Alexandre Montagu. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on Israel’s targeting of Al-Shifa hospital, the false UNRWA accusations, Russian elections, US realtors, SCOTUS, the sale of US Steel, the Federal Reserve, and Donald Trump’s legal woes, before parsing through objections from US representatives to the continued commitment to Israel’s obvious lies about UNRWA. Professor David Bellos then joins, diving right into the contemporary distinctions between patents, trademarks, and the monstrous world of copyright, with the former two requiring applications and reapplications, while copyright allows for extensive, long-term monopoly over intellectual property for both individuals and corporations. After briefly touching on the concept of intellectual property writ large, Professor Bellos steps back to look at the initially parallel histories of patents and copyright, both birthed alongside the creation and dissemination of the printing press in 15th Century Venice to provide a distinction between the limited ownership of newly-authored works and the public domain of older and classical art, also touching on the much longer (and more severe) history of trademarks stretching back through the medieval times. Moving forward, Bellos then walks Sam and Emma through how the evolution of the world of intellectual property over the 18th and 19th Centuries largely took place in Western Europe, with Paris and London leading the way to the 1886 Berne Convention while other Western states like the US seriously lagged, also touching on the lack of ideology or even rationality behind the slow but steady expansion of these rights, before parsing through the US’ 180º turn on intellectual property over the 20th Century as they came into their hegemonic station, not only signing onto Berne but forcing anyone who wanted help from the Neoliberal order to do so as well. Following a conversation on the particularly astounding role of employer or corporate ownership over intellectual property, they wrap up the interview with an assessment of IP’s role in stifling creativity, how major media companies would react to a complete overhaul of IP law, and what ideal reforms to IP would look like. Sam and Emma also update us on the Aldaghma family’s escape from Gaza.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch Bibi Netanyahu’s response to Senator Schumer’s call for new Israeli elections, John from San Antonio previews some of the biggest primary races in tomorrow’s elections and touches on progressives’ failures in California, and the MR Crew parses through the highlights from Donald Trump’s insane rally for Bernie Moreno in Ohio – including an appearance from the January 6th Choir, and the differing responses to Trump’s “bloodbath” comments and his comments on migrants not being people. Fox works to normalize Trump’s actively genocidal rhetoric, Jo Snuffy and Kathy from South Dakota dive into the Biden Administration plan for a temporary aid port in Gaza, and Boeing’s controversies grow as a whistleblower is found dead, plus, your calls and IMs!

  • It's Casual Friday! Sam and Emma speak with Jeet Heer, national affairs correspondent for The Nation, to round up the week in news. And then, they're joined by Matthew Film Guy! First, Sam and Emma run through updates on Trump’s Georgia case, Menendez’s legal woes, Gaetz’s Subpoena, Russian elections, Donald Trump, and objections from big tech over labor laws, also parsing through some of the major seats up for grabs in the House and Senate come November. Jeet Heer then joins, as he helps Sam and Emma parse through Sen. Schumer’s recent call for new Israeli elections alongside a two-state solution, looking at it in the context of the “uncommitted” movement as a (rather weak) attempt to stay the pressure from the left ahead of the election, despite the genocide raging on. Jeet, Sam, and Emma expand on the electoral conversation, discussing RFK’s ballot access problem and VP PR stunt, and the Democrats’ continuing failure to mobilize voters for Biden, before wrapping up by assessing Biden’s dwindling polling numbers and the absolute absurdity of his new TikTok ban. Matthew Film Guy also joins, tackling his Oscar re-previews, and offering up his suggestion of what to watch this week –– Kiarostami’s “Like Someone in Love.”

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma discuss Bernie’s 32-hour workweek bill with some help from Shawn Fain, Tim Scott and Tulsi Gabbard do their best Trump Administration auditions. The MR Crew tackles the likelihood of a Kristi Noam VP, Dave Rubin and Greg Gutfeld celebrating fascism in their own, unique ways, and Ben Shapiro wanting to make you work (and you better be happy about it!). They also tackle the great retail theft myth, plus, your calls and IMs!

  • FUN HALF LINK HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu64-OuHvpI&ab_channel=TheMajorityReportw%2FSamSeder

It's another EmMajority Report Thursday! Emma is BACK from vacation! She speaks with Samantha J. Simon, Assistant Professor in the School of Sociology and School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Arizona, to discuss her recent book Before The Badge: How Academy Training Shapes Police Violence. Then, she speaks with Ed Zitron, writer of the Where's Your Ed At newsletter on SubStack, to discuss the state of the Internet and digital media. First, Emma runs through updates on the IDF striking a UN aid distribution center, Israel’s continuing bloodlust, Biden and Schumer on Israel, the U.S TikTok ban, the FBI’s Biden informant, primary elections, the sale of US Steel, Bernie’s 32-hour work week, the death of Nex Benedict, Florida’s settlement over their homophobic education policy, and mass displacement in the Eastern Congo, before parsing through the Biden Administration’s role in pushing forward the new TikTok ban legislation, and the admitted role October 7th played in garnering bipartisan agreement. Professor Samantha Simon then joins, diving right into her ethnographic work exploring the role of police training as a socializing and discriminating force, first tackling the “Bad Apples” myth, and the organizational focus on instilling in their officers a specific worldview that emphasizes threats, danger, and the use of violence. After walking through the particular examples she saw in her research, and how the mentality of police works to recontextualize the dangers they face, she and Emma parse through how training works to weed out officers that resemble the mold of a victim or perpetrator, rather than a “hero.” Wrapping up, Samantha and Emma explore the particularly adversarial role police departments have with media and activists, and the general suspicion they have of “out” groups. Ed Zitron and Emma then dive into the devolution of Social Media under Big Tech’s unsustainable philosophy of endless growth, and the self-reinforcing loop of algorithms shaping the very content that is pumped into them by creators, also looking to the topic of generative AI, and the similar problem that is presented there by the curation of data and media by dubious standards pushed by capitalists and their algorithms. After briefly touching on Elon Musk’s ongoing attempt to profit off of his destruction of Twitter and the evolution of the “Hapsburg AI,” Zitron wraps up by walking through his take on Congress’ TikTok bill, sponsored by an out-of-touch gerontocracy and greedy capitalists, and why the Apple Vision Pro is a perfect example of the rot economy.

And in the Fun Half: Emma is joined by Matt Binder and Brandon Sutton as they discuss the unsurprising revelations about Aaron Rodgers in the wake of his naming as a potential VP pick for RFK, Jamie from Maine discusses growing pro-Palestine culture in the area, and the three hosts dive into recent statements from the Israeli government supporting the murder of a 12 year old Palestinian in East Jerusalem over playing with fireworks. Jalen from Canton expands on the problem with the TikTok question, a generative AI executive gets squeamish over training data, and Elon Musk cancels Dom Lemon’s show over unfair questioning of Musk and Lemon’s connections to his Jewish former employer. Tim Pool analyzes exactly why he’s so sad, inside and out, plus, your calls and IMs!

  • It's Hump Day! Sam speaks with Nicholas Boni, writer, photographer and musician based in Brooklyn, & Cea Weaver, tenant organizer with Housing Justice For All in New York, to discuss Nicholas's recent piece in Jacobin entitled "Social Housing for New York Is on the Table". Then, Sam speaks with John Samuelsen, International President of the Transport Workers Union (TWU), to discuss the prospects of a commuter rail worker strike in Boston, where they've been without a contract for over 200 days. First, Sam runs through updates on the performance of ‘uncommitted’ in the Washington primary, the House voting to sort of ban TikTok, questions about more GOP testimony, Trump’s legal battles, the House GOP, the Federal Judiciary Committee, US labor action, and aid for Ukraine, before parsing through the recent TikTok “ban” legislation rushed through the House. Nicholas Boni and Cea Weaver then join, diving right into the complete affordability crisis facing New York State, resulting from a lack of existing stable, affordable housing and investment into new permanent, affordable housing projects, and their solution of a Social Housing Development Authority (SHDA), a statewide tenant’s rights coalition, funded and supported by the state, that would work to rezone, maintain, rehabilitate, acquire, and construct new affordable housing projects across New York State, relying on a much broader base than existing housing authorities like NYCHA, allowing for them to function on a much broader, and much more effective scale. Expanding on this, Weaver and Boni look at the SHDA as a true public-sector alternative to the speculative role of private real estate, walking through the process and legislation SHDA would rely on in their acquisition of housing and land for maintenance, rehabilitation, and construction, and the role the Authority would play in working with to take over existing housing and establish tenant-run cooperatives. After walking through some real-world lasting examples of this kind of housing infrastructure, Cea and Nicholas wrap up by assessing the current state of the fight, and what to look for moving forward. John Samuelson then joins, walking through the TWU’s role representing transit workers across the US, before zooming in on the ongoing issues facing Local-2054, with active profiteering and exploitation from the French company Keolis in their management of Massachusetts’ Commuter Rail, all bankrolled by the US taxpayer. After walking through the long battle between the local and Keolis in their ongoing contract negotiations, Samuelson walks through the ongoing exploitation faced by transit mechanics and coach cleaners on the South Side, and the role of the MBTA and Massachusetts DOT in allowing this brutal exploitation. Wrapping up, John Samuelson assesses the future of Local-2054’s fight, and what we can do to support them.

And in the Fun Half: Sam discusses the future of MR, the bad look for both Merrick Garland and the GOP that is Robert Hur’s testimony, and revelations around Trump’s active attempt to steal classified documents. Meffi from Texas discusses the dangers of right-wing authoritarian thugs, Sly from Staten Island on the crime-spike myth, and Angela from Alberta explores the progressive factions of Canadian news media. Candace Owens goes on in on the transvestigation of Brigitte Macron, Ken Buck leaves the GOP hanging dry as he kills their House Majority, and A from Washington dives into some context for Brett Weinstein’s dishonorable discharge from academia, plus, your calls and IMs!

  • It's News Day Tuesday! Sam breaks down the biggest headlines of the day. But first, Sam speaks with Brian Concannon, human rights lawyer and executive director of the Institute for Justice & Democracy in Haiti (IJDH), to discuss the ongoing political instability in Haiti. First, Sam runs through updates on Biden’s response to Trump’s calls for cuts to entitlements, Netanyahu-Biden relations, dissent for the US’s support for Israeli, aid to Gaza, the US economy, the 2024 election, Biden’s age, the RNC, the NLRB v. Trader Joe’s, and Indian fascism, before diving into the testimony from Special Counsel Robert Hur on Biden’s age. Brian Concannon then joins, diving right into Haiti’s history as one of the few successful anti-colonial revolutions and why the West has never forgiven them for that, exploring the reparations Haiti was forced to pay to France for their slaves, and the ongoing neocolonial domination from the US. Expanding on this latter point, Concannon walks through the evolution of Haitian politics in the wake of Jovenel Moïse’s attempt to cling to power with US backing despite finishing his term as President, and the eventual successful attempt by the US to install Western-backed candidate Ariel Henry in the wake of Moïse’s assassination, tackling what mechanisms US and the west use to prop up Henry’s Presidency, including diplomatic and financial support from key international institutions, and how the US has shot down any attempt from the Haitian population to present alternative or even semi-democratic visions. After briefly touching on the US’ long neocolonial objections to a democratic or progressive Haitian government, and the growing pressure for anti-colonial reparations, Sam and Brian parse through the US’ ongoing attempt to install a foreign military presence in Haiti to back Henry’s regime, touching on the myriad objections they’ve received from propositioned militaries, and why the US is positioning it as an ultimatum if Haiti wants to step towards new, democratic elections. Sam also walks through the Biden administration’s response to Donald Trump’s threat to cut Medicare and social security, Ben Shapiro proving, once again, that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, and ongoing attempts to get Biden to condition military aid to Israel, before wrapping up with a brief assessment of the Netanyahu regime amid growing backlash to Israel’s occupation of Palestine.

And in the Fun Half: Sam discusses his recent appearance with Hasan Piker, parses through the mystery of Biden’s State of the Union doping scandal with some experienced help from Jesse Watters, and Charlie Kirk ponders the threat of RFK to Donald Trump. Fox works on deepening the DEI conspiracy around Boeing, and Tim Pool once again falls into the trap of “defining his opinions,” plus, your calls and IMs!

The Majority Report with Sam Seder - https://majorityreportradio.com/

  • Happy Monday! Sam speaks with Dr. Peter J. Hotez, Dean for the National School of Tropical Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine, to discuss his recent book The Deadly Rise of Anti-science: A Scientist's Warning. Sam runs through updates on the US’ facilitating of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, revelation around Israel’s coercion of UNRWA members, progressives vs. AIPAC, the NLRB’s joint employer ruling, Boeing’s criminal inquiry, and Haiti’s state of emergency. Dr. Peter J. Hotez then joins, beginning by stepping back to tackle the evolution of both his work on vaccines and the anti-science movement, and of the movement itself, beginning in 1998 with claims of the MMR vaccine’s correlation with autism, and continually reinventing itself in the wake of scientific evidence and studies disproving its newest claims. After touching on the particular anti-vax grift around increased autism diagnosis, Dr. Hotez and Sam parse through the evolution of the union between the anti-science and right-wing movements, with the former beginning as more of a niche movement in California and Texas, before dwindling success forced the it to reinvent itself, finding roots in the Tea Party. Expanding on this, they look at the ideological common ground between the anti-science community and the US right, including an emphasis on individual freedoms, attacks on elites, and general hatred for the state, all of which helped push it to the fore with the COVID-19 crisis, with Fox News and sitting Congresspeople actively misinforming and fear-mongering around vaccine safety. Peter and Sam also touch on the particular role Big Pharma’s greed and malpractice played in pushing distrust of the medical industry, and explore what it would mean to redefine the medical and scientific communities’ restricted relationship to both the public and the marketplace, before wrapping up the interview by looking to the horizon of the ongoing COVID pandemic, and the future of humanity’s relationship to vaccines.

And in the Fun Half: Sam dives into Biden’s attempt to tentatively set a conditional red line for supporting Netanyahu’s siege of Gaza, and Bibi’s direct and clear refutation of that, also watching the stark difference between the Pentagon’s assessment of Israel’s and Hamas’ respective dangers to aid for Palestinians, and Google Cloud engineers speak out against their company’s role in facilitating the genocide in Gaza. Boom from Indianapolis touches on more transphobic abuse felt by non-trans people, Jacob from Alabama (and the Valley Labor Report) explores the varying responses to Senator Katie Britt’s response to Biden’s State of the Union, and Maria Bartiromo revolutionizes the whole “they’re using illegals to get more votes” conspiracy. Donald Trump touches on touching the third rail (social security), plus, your calls and IMs!

  • It's Casual Friday! Sam speaks with Ryan Grim, D.C. Bureau Chief at The Intercept and co-host of Counter Points, to round up the week in news. Then, he's joined by Francesca Fiorentini, host of the Bitchuation Room! First, Sam runs through updates on yesterday’s State of the Union, Biden-Trump polling, US aid to Gaza, US arms to Israel, ceasefire talks, NATO, US jobs numbers, Iowan fascism, FEC policy, and Donald Trump’s defamation debt, also parsing through the impact of yesterday’s ceasefire protest outside of the SOTU, and Biden’s supposed hot mic moment committing to his insistence that he’ll definitely convince Netanyahu to let in aid sometime soon. Ryan Grim then joins, running through some updates on recent challenges to the Intercept and the mass layoff that hit the company’s unionized staff, before stepping back to assess the absurdity of Biden’s hot mic comments to Senator Bennett and the doubtfulness around Biden doing something new to stop this conflict. Expanding on this, Grim and Sam walk through Biden’s role in pushing unconditional US support for the genocide in Gaza, the oddity of the leaks coming out of VP Harris’ office, and Biden’s history of being a centrist cipher on every issue OTHER than militant Zionism and US imperialism. Next, they parse through Biden’s SOTU statements on immigration, completely turning the notion that “no human is illegal” and continuing to commit to the GOP’s framing on the border, before wrapping up by assessing Biden’s goal for the speech, and how well he accomplished it. Francesca Fiorini and Sam then address the question of who Biden’s SOTU speech was for, explore the vague notions of liberal politics that he promoted with little to no agenda to back it up, and gauge the future of democratic leadership after this election cycle. After briefly touching on Biden’s comments on the whole “gerontocracy” problem, Francesca and Sam wrap up the free half by parsing through GOP Senator Katie Britt’s response to Biden’s State of the Union, and the – ah – pointed reviews from the GOP establishment.

And in the Fun Half: Sam watches Lara Trump extoll the public’s general embarrassment around Trump as proof of his strong base, Candace Owens highlights the problem of those damn cultish Jews, and Sean Hannity accidentally paints Joe Biden as “having energy,” plus, your IMs!

The Majority Report with Sam Seder - https://majorityreportradio.com/

  • It's another EmMajority Report Thursday! Emma speaks with Hanno Hauenstein, independent journalist based in Berlin, to discuss his recent writing in Haaretz and The Intercept regarding the German media's suppression of pro-Palestinian voices. Then, she speaks with Alberto Toscano, professor of communications at Simon Fraser University, about his recent book Late Fascism: Race, Capitalism, and the Politics of Crisis. First, Emma runs through updates on tonight’s State of the Union, ongoing slaughter in Gaza, illegal US arms sales to Israel, growing regional tensions around Israel, Trump’s immunity trial, the averted government shutdown, Alabama GOP’s panicked IVF legislation, anti-migrant violence, Haiti-US relations, and Florida anti-labor legislation, also parsing through DeSantis’ commentary on Nikki Haley’s presidential campaign. Hanno Hauenstein then joins, diving right into the role of Germany as the third-largest arms seller to Israel, and an increasing ally to the Zionist state in the lead-up to October 7th. Next, Hauenstein walks Emma through the growing anti-Palestinian and antisemitic rhetoric coming out of the German government and media attempting to silence pro-Palestinian rhetoric and critique of Israel, as seen in the recent backlash to a joint Palestinian-Israeli documentary winning an award at a Berlin film festival. After briefly running through Germany’s historical support for the Zionist cause as a form of reparations for their actions in the Holocaust, despite shifting the cost of these reparations onto an unconsenting population of Palestinians, Hanno tackles the active repression and Islamophobia coming from the German state and media, and its impact on the German population. Professor Alberto Toscano then joins, walking through the abstract problem of defining fascism, and its core context as an ideology that arises from capitalist crisis to enlist mass participation in the politics of domination and exclusion. After briefly touching on the long history of anti-fascist thinkers identifying elements of fascism in liberal democratic contexts, Professor Toscano expands on fascism’s relationship to capitalism as its necessary material pretext, including the important distinction between fascism and totalitarianism writ large, and liberal democracy’s attempts to obscure fascism’s roots in the material issues stemming liberal democracy. Expanding on this, Toscano and Emma explore the conception of fascism as colonialism and imperialism turned inward, exploring the major influence of these projects on the classical fascist states of Italy and Germany, as well as the tight-knit relationship between American neo-imperialism and fascist rule, before they wrap up by assessing immigration and border control as the newest front for the fascist cause, and the central role liberal democrats have played in facilitating that project.

And in the Fun Half: Emma is joined by Brandon Sutton and Matt Binder as they tackle the attempted sale of Palestinian land to settlers in a New Jersey synagogue, the supposed plan by the Biden Administration to finally push aid through their own military outpost to the besieged people of Gaza, and talk with Dave from Jamaica about the devolution of the Right-wing’s hypocrisy around sexuality. RFK runs through the central role of sexual predators in his 2000s social network, plus, your calls and IMs!

  • It's Hump Day! Sam and Emma speak with Dave Weigel, author of the "Americana" newsletter at Semafor, to break down the results from Super Tuesday. Then, they're joined by Joe Mizrahi, secretary treasurer of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), Local 3000, to discuss the union's efforts to lead the "Uncommitted" vote in the Washington state primary, coming up next Tuesday March 12th. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on Super Tuesday, McConnell’s endorsement of Donald Trump, the race for Senate Majority Leader, a government shutdown, Israel’s offensive in Rafah, SpaceX’s attack on the NLRB, and Menendez’s newest charge, before parsing through IfNotNow’s action at Adam Schiff’s victory speech last night. Dave Weigel then joins, diving right into what he saw as the major stories coming out of Super Tuesday, including Haley’s choice to drop out without endorsing Trump and the growing momentum around the “Uncommitted” protest vote, walking through the limited undermining of Donald Trump during the GOP Primary for the former, and assessing the productive engagement (and what impact it could have) for the latter. Next, Weigel dives into AIPAC’s major primary and general election races to look forward to, exploring the prospects of their attack on progressive Democrats and what (if anything) could be seen as a “loss” by the pro-Israel lobby, before wrapping up with a quick assessment of the results coming out of North Carolina and Texas, and whether far-right primary victories means more pickups for Democrats come November. Joe Mizrahi then quickly runs through the major role UFCW Local-3000 plays across the Pacific Northwest, and the central role solidarity and activism play in organizing the 55,000-strong union. Mizrahi walks through the union’s decision to first endorse a ceasefire, and now to endorse voting “uncommitted,” including the process that led to the unanimous decision on the latter, and why the union saw this protest vote as an opportunity to push Biden towards a more viable candidacy. After briefly running through the pushback to the union’s most recent endorsement, Mizrahi wraps up the interview by walking through Local-3000’s organizing around the issue, and what they hope to achieve.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma explore Tim Walz’s response to the incredible showing of the “uncommitted” vote in yesterday’s Minnesota Primary, assess the impact of Nikki Haley dropping out on the general, and parse through the exile of Brett Weinstein from the public square (he got blocked by Elon Musk). Amy Klobuchar stands up for anti-trust, Snyder in Salem and Michael in Miami respectively explore the future of the US Left and left media, and Fox’s The Five salutes the senatorship of Kyrsten Sinema. Mindy discusses her nerves around Trump, plus, your calls and IMs!

The Majority Report with Sam Seder - https://majorityreportradio.com/

  • Happy Monday! Sam and Emma speak with Rashid Khalidi, professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University, to discuss his 2020 book The Hundred Years' War on Palestine: A History of Settler Colonialism and Resistance, 1917–2017, and his views on the Israel-Gaza conflict as it stands now. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on the Supreme Court keeping Trump on the ballot for November, the GOP primary, the US airdropping aid to Gaza, Super Tuesday, Haiti’s State of Emergency, the GOP’s struggle to run the House, and the major anti-trust victory over the Jet Blue-Spirit merger, also parsing through Joe Biden and Kamala Harris tentatively wading into the “temporary ceasefire” conversation. Professor Rashid Khalidi then joins, first stepping back to explain why he began his work on Palestinian resistance in 1917, well before the establishment of the state of Israel, looking at the central role of the West – namely Britain and the US – in support and facilitating the violent establishment and maintenance of a Zionist apartheid state. Beginning in 1917, Professor Khalidi then works his way through the history of Palestinian’s last century of struggle, first exploring occupation under the British mandate, the role of European nationalism and anti-semitism in facilitating the Balfour declaration and the establishment of a Zionist state, and the combination of violent British and Zionist repression against Palestinians, alongside mass ethnic cleansing, in the decades leading up to World War II. After touching on the evolution of both the Palestinian nationalist movement and the extremist zionist cause over this era, Rashid walks Sam and Emma through Israel’s various extreme massacres and ethnic cleansing that occurred leading up to and during the 1948 Nakba, the role of the one-sided UN Partition plan in pushing the start of the catastrophe, and the devastating impact it had on the state of the Palestinian nationalist movement. Next, Professor Khalidi, Sam, and Emma look at the evolution of Israel’s apartheid rule and ethnic cleansing over the two decades before the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, and the impact of that war in furthering the devastation, before looking at the rebirth of the Palestinian nationalist movement with the Palestinian Liberation Organization and First Intifada. After tackling the failure of the Oslo Accords (and the negotiations around them), Professor Khalidi runs through the major influence of US politics in all evolutions of the conflict in the second half of the century, a trend that would grow in the wake of the Second Intifada in 2000, and continues to this day, before wrapping the interview up with a quick assessment of the central role of the US in facilitating the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and the role of the other Arab states in the region.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma talk with John from San Antonio as he previews major Super Tuesday races including finding Feinstein’s replacement and progressive battles in Texas, New York, North Carolina, and more. They also watch CNN’s Christiane Amanpour nail Netanyahu’s Special Advisor on Israel’s involvement in the Flour Massacre, and Jesse Watters spotlights Tulsi Gabbard for Trump’s VP. Trump stumbles over the Q-Anon anthem, Tyler from Washington explores the new era of social media, and Mitch McConnell’s GOP colleagues begin to demand he align with Trump’s agenda, plus, your calls and IMs!

  • It's Casual Friday! Sam and Emma speak with Heather Digby Parton, contributing writer at Salon.com and proprietor of the blog Hullabaloo, to round up the week in news. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on Israel’s most recent massacre in Gaza, the EU resuming funding to UNRWA, Biden and Trump beefing over who’s more of a fascist on the border, the spiraling GOP, a major endorsement for “uncommitted,” IVF legislation, the IRS, Tesla’s racism problem, and the NYT’s journalistic malpractice, before parsing through an Israeli Spox.’s attempt to spin their massacre at a humanitarian aid truck to be the fault of Hamas and the Palestinians. Digby then joins, diving right into Biden’s dwindling support just months ahead of a rather symbolic Chicago Democratic Convention, before diving deeper into the incredible movement organizing for the “uncommitted” protest vote against Biden and what it can achieve. Next, Digby, Sam, and Emma parse through Biden’s right-wing pivot on immigration, exploring how it completely undermines his role as a leader, why capitulating to the right never works electorally, and the insanity of granting the executive branch greater powers around immigration ahead of a possible Trump presidency. Wrapping up, they briefly run through Trump’s major victory with the Supreme Court taking up his ballot access case, and what to expect from it moving forward.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch Comer and Co. get hammered over the GOP’s complete failure of an impeachment case against Biden, getting raked by everyone from CNN to Newsmax, and parse through Taylor Lorenz’s recent interview of unremarkable bigot Chaya Raichik aka Libs of TikTok. Jay from West Michigan dives into the divide over the “uncommitted” protest vote, Keith gives some insider knowledge on Greg Gutfeld, and Weston from Pittsburgh on the question of voting in the electoral college, plus, your calls and IMs!

  • It's another EmMajority Report Thursday! Emma speaks with Carlos Rojas Rodriguez, a former staffer on the Bernie Sanders 2020 presidential campaign, to discuss the Biden administration's recent attempts at passing bipartisan immigration legislation. Then, she is joined by Kina Collins, candidate for Congress in Illinois's 7th District, to tell us about her race ahead of the primary in March. Emma runs through updates on the growing death toll in Gaza in the wake of the IDF opening fire on Palestinians swarming an aid truck, major developments in Trump’s legal battle for his candidacy, the GOP’s government shutdown, Mitch McConnell’s resignation from leadership, IVF legislation, Idaho’s botched execution, environmental emergency in Texas, and the impact of long covid, before parsing through CNN’s coverage of the Supreme Court taking on Trump’s ballot case. Carlos Rojas Rodriguez then joins, tackling Biden’s insane, full right-wing immigration turn, completely ceding the narrative to the right and pushing policies of pure border militancy. After briefly touching on the Democrats’ shift to the right on immigration in the wake of Obama’s DACA program, and his experience questioning Biden in a 2020 town hall, Rodriguez parses through the myriad (now broken) promises made by Biden on the 2020 campaign trail, why his administration’s approach to immigration has largely been a continuation of Trump’s, and what this turn could mean for Biden’s 2024 chances. Wrapping up, Rodriguez explores an alternative vision to border militancy, and unpacks the hypocrisy of globalization’s open borders when it comes to capitalism and exploitation, and severe border militancy when it comes to those that it exploits. Kina Collins then dives right into her take on Texas Gov. Abbott’s threats to send more immigrants to Chicago, and why leaving behind the scarcity mindset can help you fight for both existing community members who lack resources and those not yet integrated. Next, Collins and Emma tackle the politics of incumbent Rep. Danny Davis, particularly his absence from both his community and his voting responsibilities, before walking through Collins’ history growing up and organizing in the same neighborhood Fred Hampton organized and was assassinated, and how it shaped her political life and beliefs. After touching on the importance of gun safety and single-payer healthcare to her platform, Collins wraps up by touching on her relationship with Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, and what the fight for IL-7 looks like heading forward.

And in the Fun Half: Emma is joined by Matt Binder as they talk with Mohammad Aldaghma about his family’s ongoing struggle to get out of Gaza amid Israel’s onslaught, before parsing through the recent report out of the Intercept that parses through the incredibly shady reporting and journalism behind the New York Times’ massive cover story about the systemic sexual assault that occurred on October 7th. They also talk with Carl from Arizona on the right wing’s obsession with women’s labor, watch the Swedish EU Rep to the UN’s statements on complicity in Gaza, and explore some more attempts by Israel to spin the war to the US public. They also cover the right’s attempt to feign ballot fraud, plus, your calls and IMs!

The Majority Report with Sam Seder - https://majorityreportradio.com/

  • It's Hump Day! Sam speaks with Michelle Eisen, organizing member of Starbucks Workers United (SWU), to discuss the breaking news that Starbucks may be willing to return to the negotiating table with SWU. Then, Sam is joined by Melissa Gira Grant, staff writer at the New Republic, to discuss her recent reporting on Project 2025. First, Sam runs through updates on the tremendous showing of the “Uncommitted” vote in Michigan’s Democratic Primary, an imminent government shutdown, US’ commitment to begin to start working on trying to get Israel compliant with international law soon maybe, IVF legislation, UAW expansion, Arizona fascism, anti-trust action, the impotency of the New York Democratic machine, climate change, and Nepo babies Hunter Biden and Lara Trump, before diving into CNN’s coverage of Michigan’s “Uncommitted” vote, attempting to downplay and obscure the political movement behind it. SWU’s Michelle Eisen then joins, reflecting on the major developments in their unionization drive in the 11 months since her last MR appearance, including Starbucks’ contract stonewalling and active discrimination against union stores and workers. Next, Eisen looks to the role of Starbucks’ recent trademark lawsuit and the union’s countersuit in pushing Starbucks to come back to the table with the union and attempt to prove good faith after years of union-busting, and granting backpay and other benefits provided to the union. Wrapping up, Michelle and Sam tackle the central role workers will play in these negotiations moving forward, and where the timeline for the reparations currently stands. After briefly touching on Mitch McConnell’s announced resignation from Senate leadership, Sam is joined by Melissa Gira Grant who jumps right into what “Project 2025” is, an agenda blueprint provided by the far-right Heritage Foundation and supported by some hundred other groups that outlines their plan for a fascist transition in the case of a GOP victory in 2024. After briefly stepping back to look and where this project came from, and the particular role that Donald Trump plays in it, Grant walks Sam through the specifics of the project, centering around this idea of enshrining the family (more specifically the heterosexual nuclear family) at the core of policies to undermine same-sex marriage, trans rights, the DOE, social programs writ large, and generally gut the 14th amendment’s right to privacy when it comes to sexual and gender identity. After briefly touching on the role of the 1873 Comstock Act as central to the Heritage Foundation’s plan, Grant tackles Project 2025’s major goals of removing all mention of reproductive rights and abortion from US government policy, and punishing any governmental or public organizations that do not comply with their myriad fascist changes. Wrapping up, Melissa and Sam discuss the ideological focus of the project’s recruitment methods, and why their numbers are falling well short of their vision as the election draws closer.

And in the Fun Half: Sam talks with Nick from Michigan and Matt from Ann Arbor, respectively, about the “Uncommitted” vote in yesterday’s primary, then Dave Rubin calls in to attempt to hash things out with Sam as they tackle the necessity of wealth inequality and the attack on IVF before things take a turn for the personal. The MR Team also covers the fallout of James Comer’s central witness to the Biden Impeachment getting exposed as a Russian asset, Hemet from Canada calls in to touch on Canada’s growing xenophobia, and Joe Rogan and Kid Rock go back and forth between whether genocide is productive or not, while Dr. Phill and Rogan come to agreement on the wonders of wealth inequality, plus, your calls and IMs!
