Wrapping up our illustrious sixth season, The Lingo is joined by the enigma, Mr. Don Julio himself. As a man of many hats, it's only right to touch base on a bit of everything he does. We kick off our conversation with how ATM and Don Julio met through music and how O met him through event curation; our first topic.
We glide towards the music talk discussing his new project, The Don Tape, set to drop July 10th, 2022. Enveloping that arching topic we speak on how the music we make as artists will always vary from the sounds we really enjoy, to the music we make for certain groups of our fans; and how the tape has a bit of each.
Throughout the entirety of this episode many gems are dropped to really encompass not only our guest as an artist, but to really embrace artistry as a whole. As always, we end this episode with an amazing Lingo Talk With The Lingo because you know how we do.
Thank you all for an amazing season, and we'll see you soon! Stay up, stay safe, be easy - peace.

In a very full circle moment, The Lingo is joined this week by Jalen and Zeal from Escape2NY. Recapping their past Underground Live event (UGL), we recall the start of UGL and how it went from basement bashments to an upcoming rooftop function; from the bottom to the top - literally.
We get into a nice pocket talking about Jalen’s own journey with music and how it led to his younger brother (950rackz a.k.a GSK) forming a love for rap; truly showing us that artistry runs in the family.
Both guests being familiar with and having spent much time upstate, we talk about the music scene up there and the challenges that come with trying to amplify the voices out there - which ultimately takes us back to Jalen’s musical journey.
On our latter half, we discuss Escape going global with their Mexico City event, what's next for Escape in regards to UGL and their Art Expo and how to further creative this space and platform for creatives.
As always, we wrap up with a Lingo Talk with The Lingo with new phrases in the mix! -

You already know how we coming, it's a family affair! This past week, The Lingo was graced by guests from our last 4 seasons, @Kaylaphate, @Destheproblem, @malik.english, @jezmakesmusic. It's real simple this week - we was chilling with the homies, laughing and chatting.
After catching up with everyone, we get into about some new music and new projects coming from each of these talented artists which led us into a distribution debate and honestly, Distrokid is bugging. Being music lovers and mainly Brooklyn natives we give everyone some nostalgia in discussing the 10 year anniversary of '1999' by Joey Bada$$ (slight morbid content here not gonna lie).
Since everyone here has done a Lingo Talk with The Lingo, we spin-off with a nice hot topic, "who is in the next class of the "greatest" rappers?"
-
On this majority mellow episode, The Lingo sits down with Richii Price, Flatbush native artist, to talk about the smooth sounds he be putting out.
We kick off with an entire Syracuse & NCAA tangent that somehow leads us to Narnia and the real hot take of the episode: "Bridge to Terebithia could've been Narnia."
After all that though, we get into the real meat of the episode, discussing how ATM and Richii met at his group (Kings Circle) run event, Ice Cream Social; later getting into Richii's trilogy album, Positive Productions. We bounce around a lot with content regarding old music and new music he has dropping; as well as a lot of talk on Kings Circle and what it really is.
On this episode we talk about basketball, music, RICO charges and best of all new lingo to grace the episode's title: That's Larry.

BROKELAND IS BACK!
On this hilarious episode we have returning guest, @Blkmfchrist (a.k.a. Savvy) and another member of the Brokeland collective, @tretheartist.
Where do we even begin?
After our initial catch-ups with Savvy and his recent Alvin Ailey tour, we dive into Tré's music journey and how it all started with Summer Youth funds. We talk on what seems to be the brand of Brokeland, working in house. We talk production and melodies and how making everything yourself just changes your overall musical process.
If you know Brokeland, you know their "guerrilla marketing," as O called it, is their bread and butter. It makes them unforgettable.
On our latter half we speak on Money's SOB Performance, leading us into overall event curation and how performances impact us as artists. We wrap up with talks on rebound tracks, marketing tacts, (Fake) Brokeland Beef, and of course Lingo Talk with The Lingo. Hilarious content, even funnier collective.

On this very special episode, The Lingo taps in with Brooklyn born, Uptown raised artist MamaBlue to discuss a lil bit of everything.
What made this episode super special was having her daughter, Nala, on set and that really framed a lot of our conversations on her start in music, performing, and the overall balance of being an artist and a mother, both full time.
We tap into her most recent project, Dmgd GDS (Damaged Goods), the process of creating that and it ultimately leads us into a discussion of clout and what being a female rapper looks like.
This episode is jam-packed with gems, great convo and of course, audio soundbites from the real guest, Nala.

This week, The Lingo is joined by Brooklyn native artist, Tao to chop it up about music, Cali, rap duo’s and much more.
Recently coming off an LA trip, Tao recaps the music competition he went to participate in while also giving us a breakdown about why he only bought weed from… MedMen (of all places).
We jump around a lot on Tao’s first solo project, 28, and the things that went into making the project, specifically the track “Energy” with Llardobaby. We speak a lot on personality and how Tao may not seem approachable but is actually super friendly, in that also squashing some performance beef in the air, iykyk.
All in all, great episode, even greater discussion. Tune in and much love.

On this special episode The Lingo co-hosts are joined by the most elite, fly, and beautiful women to grace the front of a lens, Morgan (@mor.melanin) and Soko (@sokologyy).
We start with obvious flowers to our mutual friend, past guest, and amazing creative Zach (@mr.cloop__) for bringing ATM and both guests together for a photoshoot for his clothing brand, Cloopy; sparking the start of this collaborative friendship.
The models take. us through an hour long journey touching base on everything from their own individual modeling journeys, specifically discussing the battlefield of being a “model” vs also trying to be everything else.
They take us through their favorite photo spots, photo shoots they've done and also the joy and differences that exist between concept shoots and random street shoots.
From top to bottom, the episode is sprinkled with some of each models' top achievements as well as their goals looking forward.
You didn't sit down with The Lingo unless you had Lingo Talk With The Lingo so the two Harlem natives add more slang to our dictionary.

We love community and thanks to Escape2NYC's events, we've been able to continue to grow our network. This week, The Lingo sits down with Harlem native Prep Banks to really dive deep into his artistry and specifically his most recent project, Thanks For Listening.
After touching base on his roots in Harlem with dancing and getting lite, we tap into the A side of his project and eventually make the parallel between his project and Drake's Scorpion (just A side, B side comparison not sound). We discuss the influences that went into both sides of the project and what went into giving the public such a versatile project with so many sounds.
We wrap up on upcoming music moves and of course, Lingo Talk with The Lingo. Super smooth episode, don't miss out.
-
On this outstanding and hilarious episode, The Lingo is joined by an amazing and talented musician, Jesediah A.K.A @jezmakesmusic. Being a Syracuse native, Jez takes us through the entire Syracuse the city VS. Syracuse University discourse, and how growing up there is really no joke (enters the episode title).
Taking us through his music journey, we touch on aspects of musicality, producing, curating and comparisons - really dissecting what these all encompass for Jez as an overall artist. Being a musician means performing and for Jez, not only is he no stranger to a stage, but he just came off one of his most notable performances, South By SouthWest.
We wrap up with discussions about specific songs on Jez's discography as well as a classic "Lingo Talk With The Lingo" and we finally got some new Lingo on the show! You don't want to miss this!
-
Coming off of another art filled weekend, The Lingo sits down to not only discuss art, but we kick it off with a huge corporate world vs. passion discussion - to really solidify how passion is a driving force, especially for creatives.
We then go into our event producer/attendee mode while discussing our friend and prior guest, Johnny Champagne, and his re-run DJ set at Pink's Cantina. Let's just say, DJ Etiquette is not universal.
Taking up the bulk of our episode is our recap of Escape2NYC's Underground Live event in Uptown; which our co-host ATM performed at. Not only was there a plethora of artists, but so much networking and connections were able to be made because of the event. All in all, shoutout to Escape2NYC for curating that space for creatives and consumers alike.
Special shoutouts to: @tao.__ @bluehadababy @stefcash @bigfcknbanks @oncekbs @950rackz

Whenever a multi-hyphenate steps onto our set, we know it's gonna be a great day. Bestowing wisdom on The Lingo duo this time is photographer, videographer, producer and many more, Jonathan George.
We really dive into the multiple pockets of Jonathan's artistry, tapping into his multiple accolades including shooting NYFW (multiple times) and magazine features of his photo work. We continue to dive into his other art forms like producing and directing and how they've developed over time but one things for sure, if he's gonna do it, he's gonna be AMAZING at it.
Before wrapping up the first half, we get into an amazing pocket of your art not necessarily being who you are and the debate of being "an artist" rather than a human who makes art.
The second half is better heard than explained because there's a notable amount of tangents, each more intriguing than the last.
Growing up between ATL and NYC, our guest wraps us up with some southern Lingo for our favorite segment, Lingo Talk with The Lingo

THE TITLE IS ALARMING THE EPISODE IS NOT!
Joining The Lingo this week are past guests and fellow creatives, Johnny Champagne and Malik English. Once again a descriptive episode, putting the public on to some recent artist run and led events that some or all of us went to.
Kicking off with ATM's birthday gallery, we go on a deeper dive as to what the event meant for ATM as both a planner and performer; also tapping Johnny and Malik for their input on what performing in that space looked like and felt like for them.
Continuing with the week, O drops insight on a recent event the attending hosted by DickByAir titled "No Negativity." Hosted at The Knitting Factory, the event put a lot of artists on O's radar, introducing new styles, sounds, and artists that this amazing city has to offer.
Thanks to a network O made at that event, it led the duo to attend an underground rap show in Ridgewood later that week. Much can be said but we'll leave it at, characters can really make an event and/or function worth remembering.
We wrap up the event reviews with DJ Champagne's first set over at Pink's Cantina and what that experience encompassed for him as the sole DJ of the night. This entire segment gives one of the best gems from the episode for sure: "Collaboration Is Key."
Johnny Champagne ends us off with more to want as we discuss his upcoming project, Yankee Of The South, and everything that went and is going into the compilation of that project. Needless to say, we can't wait to hear it!

Art has surrounded our Co-Hosts so heavily lately that ATM and O had to sit down and really dissect all the different experiences in the past week.
Kicking off with the NBA Leather Tour consisting of Boldy James, The Alchemist, Earl Sweatshirt, and Action Bronson, O and ATM relate on the nostalgia of the setlist(s) as well as a common appreciation for the physical venue, Terminal 5. The All-Star line-up provided an unforgettable experience for any true fan of them and of lyrical, storytelling hip-hop.
This past weekend, O took a trip up with our past guest and his managing artist, Malik English, for a show at The Blue Room in Syracuse, NY. Hosted and Presented by Mosh Retirement, their lineup featured artists Malik English, Zak G, and Sedona, while also featuring DJ sets by DickByAir and SMAVS. Malik also joins us for on off-camera cameo to talk about his Destiny USA Arc and what the entire experience was like for him as an artist as well as how it was for O as a manager.
Closing out with upcoming events one thing's for sure, the duo is always on the move.

Welcome back to season 6 of The Lingo. To help kick off the season, your favorite duo was joined by members of BROKELAND to discuss their collective and how it came to be.
Recently coming off a show @ Bowery Electric, we discuss the nuances of that show and the problematic micro aggressions the group faced the night of the performance.
We also discuss each members individual sound and how it all came together for their group album, Brokeland Vol. 1.
With tangents about performing arts schools, a Kanye West link up, art, future plans for the group and much more, this intro to the season is jam packed with laughs and amazing stories.
-
On the final episode of Season 5, ya homie ATM and ya boy O tap back in with our Season 4 fav, Shuttleboy and new guests IJ and Psyche. What don't we talk about in this episode? From humble beginnings, too upcoming projects and everything in between, this group of 5 has much to say.
We talk about recording preferences between home studios and official studios, the therapy that comes with rapping and/or producing. We get into an important pocket about the importance of a team around you, and how that's made a difference in both IJ and Shuttleboy's career. There's a huge rise of producers and having one on set, we also spoke about producers making their own albums and/or duo albums with rappers.
We close out the episode with crazy studio stories and of course, Lingo Talk with The Lingo. On this Uptown x Brooklyn episode, there's so many gems and stories to end our season with a bang!
-
This bittersweet episode is back to a 1-2 dynamic with ATM and O covering a range of sensitive, bittersweet and heart wrenching topics. Starting off on a lighthearted catch up, our hosts take us through how live music has played such a big role in our lives recently which leads us into dissecting the very work that we do by discussing Ye's recent Drink Champs interview. Lots of talk around Ye as an individual specifically his mental health and how that plays a role in his artistry and personality now.
Speaking on artistry and live music, we allow grace and time to dedicate our second half to Astroworld Fest, the events that took place and the lives lost and/or injured. We dive into our personal takes on matters of "blame" and how it played out, from an "outside looking in" view of course and really just pray for the families of those who passed away.
-
On this week's episode of the Lingo, Money and O welcome back a WERW and Lingo on air OG, Anthony Obas and welcome Ania, the multi-hyphenate executive to our set. An abundance of business gems are dropped on this "executive" centered episode starting with each professionals’ starting points, first acts and talents they've helped out, their internship stories and a major key in what they think is hindering artists today and more universal topics like the role TikTok and algorithms come into play for marketing and promotion these days. Lots of gems in a solid NY minute.
-
On this week's episode of the Lingo, Money and O welcome back our fave, Destheproblem and welcome George, founder and frontman for New Yerrr City. Lots of gems dropped discussing the start of New Yerrr City and their infamous “Bodega Raps,” and how much grant money is available out there for artists. We also highlight the importance of performing for artists as well as what managerial preferences are for both Des and Money.
We get into stories of acting & rapping, discussing the rapper to actor pipeline or even the rapper to model pipeline that is heavily seen nowadays. Lots of love to Mount Vernon on this one and discussing the vibe that's brought up out there and of course we had to add on to the ongoing discussion of the NY sound and artists that are out now. We get on a whole Treesha tangent towards the end and it's pure comedy and of course the gang wraps up with an amazing Lingo Talk. This episode is filled to the brim so tune in and stay in tune!
-
On this week's episode of the Lingo, Money and O get trolled by LIL D A.K.A O’s little brother - big family ties on this side feel me? The crew takes a deep dive into NYC high school culture, the making of rap names, the importance of visuals for music, and a real "serious" moment about Tekashi6ix9ine. The whole episode is really geared to see where teenagers coming up now are giving credit and what rap trends, especially in NYC, are keeping them in tune. Lots of love to Kay Flock in this one. A gem of an episode to see the state of music from the mind of a younger kid coming up now.
