On Tuesday, Karen Bass, the mayor of Los Angeles, presented her inaugural city budget, which includes provisions to address the homelessness crisis, boost mental health services, and bolster LAPD recruitment. The budget allocates almost $1.3 billion to combat homelessness.
Paul Scrivano, the owner of the Blue Dog Tavern in Sherman Oaks outside of Los Angeles, is a long-time critic of the city council. Joining Larry Elder, he argues that politicians and city officials are more interested in maintaining funding for homeless services than actually solving the problem. “This is nothing but a money grab to give to her unions to give to her homeless 501(c)(3),” Scrivano says.
He also expresses frustration with Los Angeles council members for advocating for defunding the police and then complaining about low LAPD staffing.
Fox News agrees to pay $787 million to settle Dominion’s defamation lawsuit. Joining Larry Elder to discuss this is John Eastman, former Professor and Dean of Chapman University School of Law and one of the attorneys who represented Donald Trump, and who, as a result, is facing disbarment in California.
Although the settlement may be used to debunk all claims of election illegality and fraud, Eastman points out that other allegations of election irregularities remain viable. He also argues that Fox News’s admission does not have any bearing on the majority of the allegations from the 2020 election.
The Justice Department revealed on Monday that the FBI has apprehended two individuals accused of establishing and running an unauthorized Chinese police station in New York City. The alleged purpose of this operation was to exert influence over and intimidate critics of the Chinese government residing in the United States.

She says the WHO is negotiating two instruments that would allow it to go into any country, including the United States, and mandate things like vaccines, which would abrogate national sovereignty and personal medical independence. She also discusses central bank digital currencies, which would allow the government to know every transaction and programmatically control spending, potentially allowing the enforcement of vaccine requirements. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) made history by becoming the highest-ranking elected official to meet with a Taiwanese president on American soil since the United States established diplomatic relations with Beijing.
On Wednesday, McCarthy, alongside a bipartisan congressional delegation, welcomed Tsai at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. During the meeting, McCarthy called Tsai “a great friend to America” and emphasized the strong bond between the two countries, which he believes is stronger than ever before.
The question of how strong the bond is remains, however. Would the United States respond militarily if China invaded Taiwan? To discuss this, Larry Elder is joined by James R. Gorrie, an Epoch Times contributor and author of “The China Crisis.”
Gorrie criticized the Biden administration’s policy of strategic ambiguity regarding Taiwan and its relations with China. Former President Donald Trump’s indictment in New York City is a “sad day for American justice” and should be dismissed on legal grounds, according to legal analyst, Paul Kamenar.
Kamenar is the lead counsel for the National Legal and Policy Center. He joins Larry Elder to discuss the Trump indictment.
The charges brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg are based on a “thin” case that seeks to single out Trump, Kamenar says, adding that the charges appear to be politically motivated. The indictment, which alleges that Trump’s company and its CFO committed multiple counts of fraud, is likely to interfere with the 2024 presidential campaign. Kamenar also criticizes Bragg for “weaponizing” law enforcement to target political enemies, and suggested that the charges should be dismissed on legal and selective prosecution grounds.
China’s yuan replaces the U.S. dollar as the most-traded currency in Russia. What does this mean for America?

Freeman argues that the development is a threat to the United States, and that the Biden administration is contributing to the problem through excessive spending.

A Manhattan grand jury has indicted former president Donald Trump.
Unsealed on Tuesday, the indictment charged Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree under New York Penal Law §175.10. Trump pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
Joining Larry Elder to discuss the indictment is the president of the David Horowitz Freedom Center and author of “Final Battle: The Next Election Could Be the Last,” David Horowitz.
In Horowitz’s opinion, the indictment is a weak case based on linking Trump to a felony through a reimbursement made to his then-lawyer, Michael Cohen. Horowitz argues that Trump’s actions were more likely aimed at protecting his family than at interfering with an election campaign.
“The greatest, most egregious election interference in the history of the country is what [Manhattan DA] Alvin Bragg is doing now. He’s totally derailed, on both sides of the aisle, the election campaign,” Horowitz said.
Horowitz also suggests that illegal immigration, the crisis on the southern border, and the alleged lawlessness of the Democratic Party are part of its agenda to establish a one-party state.
Hollywood is providing a great example right now of how the wealthy react to draconian tax laws. Celebrities such as Jim Carrey, Jennifer Lopez, James Corden, Britney Spears, and Kylie Jenner have put their properties on the market in recent months.
This is because a new “mansion tax” took effect in Los Angeles on Saturday that imposes a 4 percent tax on home sales valued at between $5 million and $10 million, and a 5.5 percent tax on sales over $10 million.

During the summer of 2022, protests erupted in the Netherlands over the government’s plan to reduce nitrogen emissions from the country’s farms by up to 95 percent. The Dutch government expects that many farms will have to close to achieve this goal.
What’s the rationale for such a plan from the government? Is it only happening in the Netherlands, or other parts of the world as well?
Last September, The Epoch Times’ Roman Balmakov visited the Netherlands and spoke with a variety of farmers on the ground for upcoming documentary “Eat the Bugs.” They described the challenges their sector faces from the national government and the EU, as those and other powerful factions seek to change how the world produces and consumes food.
Joining Larry Elder, Balmakov shares his knowledge and insights gained from filming the documentary. He thinks that the plan is driven by a belief that the world is ending due to manmade climate change, and the agricultural sector is being targeted to combat this threat. Farmers are being pushed out, and bugs are being promoted as an alternative source of protein.
He says there’s no one person to blame, but rather a tapestry of policies and agencies that are having the effect of pushing farmers out.
Balmakov also traveled around the world to interview farmers, agricultural departments, and governments and has found that the situation is complex in every country. Farmers fight back through legal channels, protests, and embargoes, but they are a tiny segment of the population and find it difficult to make their voices heard.
“And if you’re into it, you can eat bugs. The problem is that they’re forcing it on us,” says Balmakov, who has tried bugs himself. “What we’re exposing is the ideology that is being forced on people, not necessarily the bugs as a food item itself.”

The city of San Francisco is considering giving $5 million to each black descendant of slaves who lives in the city. They also want to allow blacks to purchase a home for one dollar, even though the average price of a home in the city is over $1 million. Additionally, they want to provide $97,000 in income support to black descendants of slaves for the next 250 years. And that’s just San Francisco. A California task force signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom is recommending at least a quarter of $1 million for every black person who lives in California, a state which, by the way, was not even a slave state.
However, not every black person is celebrating this $5 million extra income. Ward Connerly, former University of California regent, and founder and chairman of the American Civil Rights Institute, expresses his concern over the reparations movement.
“If you want to unite Democrats, Republicans, conservatives, and liberals against black people, this will do it. This makes people like me the target for everybody,” Connerly says, joining Larry Elder. “They’re trying to seduce us into thinking that there’s going to be this big paycheck. It’s not going to happen. It’s teasing black people.”

“Dilbert” cartoonist, satirist, and political commentator Scott Adams, who formerly identified as a black man, has been canceled over comments he made that some people have alleged to be racist.
However, the cartoonist said on his podcast “Coffee With Scott Adams” that he was using hyperbole, “meaning an exaggeration,” to make a point.
