  • Who is Shira O'Sullivan?

Shira O'Sullivan is the co-founder and director of gentSac. Shira O’Sullivan co-founded premium men’s grooming brand gentSac with her partner Ross in 2015. With an ambition to transform the way men approach personal grooming, the brand is at the forefront of tailored subscription options and is currently the only offering of its kind in Australia.

A personalised, easy-to-use service, gentSac offers specially curated Sacs filled with male essentials that can be purchased as a subscription or on a one-off basis to encourage men to take pride in their daily grooming.

In her late teens gentSac founder Shira began her retail career with Australian women’s fashion brand CUE clothing. She quickly established herself as one of the top sellers in the business nationally and moved through the ranks into the management team where she oversaw flagship stores. Her dynamic approach to sales had a major impact on the business and after some great achievements she took on a state role for high-end fashion business, Funky Femme.

While working closely with the general manager at Funky Femme, Shira also took on a contract role with Review, troubleshooting and sales training with poor performing stores to increase revenue and establish stronger teams. With her background in retail, sales and human resource management Shira was soon managing major retail projects while running training and development for national and international brands including Michael Paige and Sheike. This experience has enabled her to better understand and value the needs and demands of target consumers. Thanks to her ability to source quality products and relate to the needs and demands of consumers it’s no surprise Shira is now at the helm of her own successful brand.

Shira credits her partner Ross for inspiring gentSac. The idea came after a ‘lightbulb moment’. Ross, like so many other men, was less than confident when it came to sourcing quality grooming products that met his individual needs. Undoubtedly, there was a gap in the marketplace for an offering that catered to this consumer.
Shira looked into market research, which overwhelmingly supported Ross’ statement– that Australian men are time-poor, use substandard products that do not meet their specific needs and have a misconception that good grooming habits are far too expensive to maintain. Inspired by this consumer research, Shira sought to reinvent the landscape of men’s grooming and offer a convenient, premium solution for the time-poor gentleman.

Visit the gentSac store at Ground Floor, The Galeries, 500 George Street, Sydney or see the extensive range of premium men’s brands and products from Australia and around the world online at www.gentsac.com.au. www.gentsac.com.au @gentsac www.facebook.com/gentsac

  • More about Sally & Maha

Sally Obermeder is a Television presenter, radio host, best-selling author, entrepreneur...it’s an exhaustive list, but it’s why Sally Obermeder has become one of Australia’s most loved and admired personalities.

Sally Obermeder is the co-host of Channel 7’s afternoon show The Daily Edition. Launched in June 2013, the show is an exciting combination of breaking news, live interviews and entertainment updates. The live panel show airs weekdays at 2pm.

Becoming part of the Channel 7 family in 2005, Sally was a presenter for Sydney Weekender, where she was the show’s food, fashion and shopping guru. In 2008 she joined the network’s evening current affairs show Today Tonight as their National Entertainment and Lifestyle Reporter. Sally interviewed some of the biggest names in music and movies, and counts Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé and Hugh Jackman as her favourites.

In 2013 Sally danced her way in to Australian hearts after appearing on Dancing with the Stars, and in 2014 she was the host of the network's holiday special 12 Ways to Christmas. Sally also appears regularly on Sunrise and The Morning Show.

For her work in radio, in 2017 Sally joined the Macquarie Radio Network as the host of her own talkback show, Better Living with Sally Obermeder, on Talking Lifestyle. The show is live Saturdays from 1-2pm and can be streamed on www.talkinglifestyle.com.au and is broadcast on 954AM in Sydney, 882AM in Brisbane, and 1278AM in Melbourne.

Personally, everything changed for Sally in 2011. Just days before she was due to give birth to her first child, Sally was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive stage 3 breast cancer. She spent the next 12 months undergoing intensive chemotherapy and radiation; and in 2012 she underwent a double mastectomy and reconstruction surgeries. Very happily, Sally is now 5+ years free of cancer, and she, husband Marcus, and daughter Annabelle Grace welcomed the newest member of their family - daughter Elyssa Rose, via surrogate in 2016.

A bestselling author, Sally’s book Never Stop Believing was released in April 2013, through Allen & Unwin. Sally shared her truly inspiring story of triumph over almost unbeatable odds in a wonderfully warm, funny and honest memoir about her struggle to succeed in the cut-throat world of commercial television and her courageous battle with cancer.

In Aril 2015, Sally (co-authored with her sister Maha Koraiem) released Super Green Smoothies (Allen & Unwin). Now in its 10th reprint, Super Green Smoothies remains Australia’s #1 bestselling smoothie book, and was the 3rd highest-selling non-fiction book of 2015.

Following the phenomenal sales success of Super Green Smoothies, Sally and Maha released The Good Life in April 2016. Packed with fabulous recipes and mouth-watering images, The Good Life has over 160 easy, delicious recipes for a healthy, lean lifestyle. Sally and Maha’s new book, a follow-up to Super Green Smoothies will be released in October 2017.

Adding to an already impressive list of accomplishments, this year Sally and Maha launched their Super Green Smoothies Frozen Packs. Available through supermarkets across the country, the packs are tasty, snap-frozen fruit, vegetables & herbs, which are chopped, calorie counted and ready to blend in just 60 seconds.

Sally and Maha’s website, SWIISH.com was launched in November 2012. Fuelled by a desire to share information and advice for a fabulous and affordable life, SWIISH stands for stylish women inspiring inner strength, health and happiness, - all things which the sisters are extremely passionate about. The website covers a range of lifestyle categories including fashion, beauty, health, home, family and travel. With such a strong following, SWIISH has unsurprisingly become the go-to guide for all things fabulous and affordable. SWIISH has developed a significant and loyal following of women across the country, who look to the site for advice and information across the lifestyle spectrum. The SWIISH online store was launched in April 2015, and features a mix of fashion, homewares, and Sally and Maha’s own products – their books, the SWIISH DELIISH Super Green Superfood Powder, and the Super Green Smoothies 30 Day Challenge.

As a spokesperson and ambassador, Sally has worked with Bio-Oil and Westfield, as their national Style Ambassador (2013). She is currently the ambassador for AVON (2015-2018), and is working closely with their Breast Cancer Crusade.

An incredibly passionate and charitable person, Sally is an ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and The Sony Foundation. She also works with the Breast Cancer Network of Australia and The Nelune Foundation.

In addition, Sally has launched a charitable initiative – wish by SWIISH – where together with her team at SWIISH they try to bring a little joy and happiness into the lives of breast and ovarian cancer sufferers, by turning their wishes into reality.

Sally Obermeder was the recipient of the prestigious Readers’ Choice Award at the InStyle and Audi Women of Style Awards, 2017.

Known for her entrepreneurial spirit, Maha began her career in Investment Banking Human Resources where she held senior executive roles and worked alongside CEOs and MDs at the likes of global powerhouses J.P. Morgan and Bankers Trust, as well as ANZ Bank.

However, her desire to start her own business, coupled with her passion for all things fashion, health and lifestyle, saw Maha leave this career behind to launch SWIISH in October 2012 alongside her sister, Sally Obermeder.

SWIISH stands for Stylish Women Inspiring Inner Strength Health & Happiness, and is a vibrant, feel-good online destination. It inspires a luxe lifestyle for less, covering everything from fashion, beauty, family, homewares and health. It has sold over 100,000 copies, has been reprinted 10 times, and translated across the globe into several languages.

Following on from the book was the addition of a 30 Day Super Green Smoothies Challenge and 30 Day Best Body Challenge, two all inclusive programs created to inspire a healthy, active, energised, lean lifestyle.

In March 2016, Maha and Sally released The Good Life, a full cookbook containing over 160 easy, delicious recipes for a healthy, lean lifestyle.

Having completed studies in Nutrition and Diet, plus gaining accreditation as a health coach, together with her role at SWIISH has meant that Maha’s advice on living a well balanced lifestyle, incorporating mind body and spirit is highly regarded.

Additionally, her mid-life career transition from the corporate world to successful entrepreneur where she combines both the creative and the commercial, has meant Maha is sought out as a regular panel speaker and mentor to many others who are in need of inspiration to walk this path. Maha is often featured across both print and digital publications sharing her tips for success and longevity in business.

Maha has also performed MC roles for a number of events including fashion launches, corporate functions and charity events, as well as conducted many celebrity interviews including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Khloe Kardashian.

Passionate about giving back, Maha supports several charities including the Cancer Council and Giant Steps (helping children & young adults with autism). In addition, Maha together with Sally and their SWIISH team run the charitable initiative WISH by SWIISH. They try to bring a little joy and happiness into the lives of those suffering illness by donating beauty, fashion, pampering, and travel experiences to hopefully add a little sparkle to those who need it most in an otherwise challenging time.
