But it's a perfect partnership for him. An event with lots of bluster, lots of glitz, but it's all fake, manufactured and filled with nothing more than overblown testosterone. But it goes far deeper than that. Professional wrestling at its core is designed to be a fight between the good guys — “babyfaces,” in wrestling parlance — and bad guys, or “heels.” And while modern wrestling usually isn’t as cut-and-dry anymore, Trump operates under the same thinking, framing his endeavors, allies and enemies along those lines.

I received a letter this weekend, a letter that I’ve gotten before. In fact, I’ve gotten six of them total. And you know what it says. It says that all the verification of who you are, all the information of yours that your health care provider has, including your charts, your conditions, your medications, might as well be at the public library. Because it certainly isn’t safe. Is anything being done? Or is it a lost cause?
Also, we now live in a society where our children can go through not one, but TWO mass shootings, and STILL nothing at all is done. The story of the Parkland survivor that ended up in the Florida shooting.

The New Depression Is Upon Us

Today, the news will be talking about how the world economic bedrock has been shaken and how one man has decided to change fortunes instantly. His evil has infected every single country in the world, and it’s depressing.
Prices on everything are rising, and income isn’t, groceries are going up at least 4% more, and it’s depressing.
Social Security hangs in the balance. State medical assistance, and it’s depressing.
There’s already signs another great Depression is rising…but I would say, if you go by the mood of the country, for more than a few people, the great Depression is already here.
And yet this last weekend thousands marched. Were they heard? Did it matter? Well, if it made them feel better, than part of that answer already is yes. Because right now we need something to make us feel better.

In A Trade War We All Lose

It’s amusing how the rich so nonchalantly talk of trade wars, the economy and life when they are not living it. Elon Musk just spent more trying to get a judge elected in Wisconsin than most of us will ever make in our lifetimes. Trump hasn’t been to a grocery store ever. Think about that. The President has no idea what it’s like to grocery shop. He’s never been in a Target. A Walmart. He’s never checked the prices of fruits and vegetables. He doesn’t own a car, they are given to him or his company buys them.
They don’t live in our world. So in their trade war, they win, we lose.
Also, why do I have imposter syndrome? Is that truly what’s holding me, and perhaps you, back?

This Weekend Terrified Me

We all do our chores on our weekend, whenever that may be. Mine is Fri-Sun. One thing I needed to do was go shopping, as I stopped getting hungry root deliveries.
Oh my God. I mean, Oh my God. $3.50 pineapples. $1.50 oranges. Two yellow squash for $3.
Then it was off to Costco to restock things like flour, sugar, agave syrup and BBQ sauce. $256.
And I’m not alone. Steve spent $300 on food this weekend, for just him, for the week.
I am now terrified that I won’t be able to afford good, whole food. And no one, NO ONE is addressing this. What does Trump say? “I’m not concerned at all...” About 25% more for cars. About the tariffs and food.
I am.
Also, Gavin Newsom and others are now saying the Democratic brand is toxic because it caters to the educated elites. Wow, is this just WRONG.

White Lotus Breaks Taboo

The White Lotus on Max has gone and done it...they not only had a same sex couple in a three way...but the two were brothers. And they went THERE. But, historically, is the subject matter so taboo? It's an uglier fact of humanity, but it is a fact that's been around since the dawn of time. So why does NO ONE talk about it, or dramatize it, if it really happens, a lot? I know.
And, do you hate annoying group texts. Well, a reporter got put in to one...a top secret one...on the app Signal. And what was the topic? Only top secret war communications between the highest members of Government. Will anyone be fired? Probably not.
A Gay bar says no one can come inside in anything MAGA. I get it. I understand. But is this the right thing to do and where does it end? Can they wear a confederate flag shirt? I support the idea, but maybe not the practice of it. It's a very slippery slope. But...a dress code is a dress code.

It’s Not The People We Should Platform, It’s the Ideas

There’s a petition from Democrats to demand Gavin Newsom stop platforming extreme Right people. And I agree, we don’t need to give these people any more oxygen. But to dismiss their ideas, their arguments, or their issues prematurely, at least some of them, may be just too dismissive.
For instance. Vaccines. Are they safe, all of them? No. They are not. And I am living proof. My life has almost been ruined by the Shingrix Vaccine from GlaxoSMithKline. And thousands of others as well. But science finds that acceptable for the good of the many. But what if YOU’RE the one? Why release something that could do those things to more than 100 people total? So RFKJr has a point, he’s just obtuse and misguided.
The Department of Education. We all agree Education in the USA is broken. We charge too much to college kids to go and have an entire bureaucracy setup to handle their loans. We underpay teachers, schools have become shooting galleries. And kids are coming out of the system complete idiots. Something is wrong and reform should start on the federal level. Abolishing isn’t the answer, expanding its mandate is but we can all agree, it’s broken.
Government: There’s not one of us that thinks it has ever truly worked well. The post office is a mess, but privatizing isn’t the answer. DMV is a mess. Every government agency is overloaded an inefficient and doesn’t really serve the people well. But gutting it is not the answer. Repairing, replacing, modernizing and expanding is.
Their grievances often mirror those of the other side. The solutions is what we disagree upon.

It’s News To Me

It’s Thursday and the world is alive with news.
Israel, with the US’s Blessing, resumes its genocide in Gaza. And at this stage, let’s just call it what it is, an ethnic cleansing. Will anyone step in to help the Palestinians?
Trump wants to dismantle the US Dept of Education as part of the 2025 agenda he said he had never read. He wants the states to be in charge. Here’s the thing: congress created it, and only congress can dismantle it. Plus, we tried it with the states and that didn’t work. Would you move to poor states if you had kids? Nope. Why? Schools.
And in entertainment, from male parts causing a stir on White Lotus to a lack of shows to bond with our parents and other groups (Star Trek brought me and my dad together every week, what does that today?) entertainment is also a big ticket item this weekend.
