  • In this episode, Dr. Amy Hayek of Animal Chiropractic Education Source shares some of her knowledge of chiropractic care and of how natural rhythms affect our horses' bodies (as well as our own). We touch on a lot of topics that deserve a deep dive but thankfully, Dr. Amy and her husband Dr. O have created an educational platform that could very well be a one-stop shop for exploring these topics further. They offer over 340 topics that satisfy requirements for continued education for animal chiropractors. There courses are not just for animal chiropractors and veterinarians, however; animal lovers can enroll in plenty of online classes that will help to better aid their understanding of their animals anatomy and physiology, for example: saddle fit. For veterinarians and animal chiropractors, they even offer many in person intensives. You will just have to check them out for yourself. We talk specifically about:*how Dr. Amy's clinic went relatively drug-free. *how the water cycle (tides and moon phases) influences the fluid cycles of the body and subsequent effects on our physiologies*avoiding health problems through de-worming at the opportune times*taking rectal temperatures for 4-7 days in a row in early morning to establish our horses' unique basal temperatures*creating a moon phase + temperature chart in our barns to observe the influence of the moon cycle on our horses' temperatures*offering a variety of plants for grazing in pastures *Juliette de Bairacli Levy and her book, The Complete Herbal Handbook for Farm and Stabe (which I had forgotten the title of during our chat)*glyphosate (ewwwey) and how feed and hay treated with this causes minearal storage and uptake issues. Check out the Rich Roll podcast for a great talk on this: "Zach Bush, M.D. on GMO's, Glyphosate & Healing the Gut"*4 steps to get our horses' health on track- 1.) Keep them on grass 2.) use unfertilized hay 3.) take their Temps 4.) check out the ACSE (their website) course, "Cellular Healing"*A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold *Dr. Amy's advice to pre-vet students *

  • I'm so excited to be bringing you this interview with Tara Davis of unbridledgoddess.com and I truly think you will get a lot out of this episode. Tara was the first person I interviewed for this podcast and she left me feeling pumped up to continue with this vision of a podcast that delves deeply into how we can bring more consciousness to our interactions with horses and explore new topics in veterinary care.
Tara and I discuss her early life with horses and how she began to detach from the outdated systems of horsemanship that rule horses should be subordinate to us. Tara has a lovely band of horses who have taught her so much, especially Misa, who is often featured on her Instagram page. She tells us how Misa has shaped her and has helped her to break away from her established paradigm to follow her dream of having a ranch where people and horses can find healing. We talk about pursuing the artistic side of ourselves and how feedback from others may be negative, but that it's paramount to persevere. Tara gives us practical tips for transitioning to a cooperative learning environment with our horses.
