    I haven’t always been a practitioner. I used to be a parrot. And today, I want to share how I transitioned and how you can too.

    A parrot is someone who repeats things they’ve heard but never actually applies what they’ve learned. You probably know a few of these people. They attend every seminar, read every book, take every course—but never do anything with the knowledge. They throw around business buzzwords but don’t have real-world results to show for it.

    Parrots thrive on declarative knowledge. That’s when you know about something but don’t actually do it. Think of someone who’s read 10 books on investing but never put a dollar in the market. Or a “health expert” who preaches fitness but doesn’t look the part

    On the other hand, a practitioner is someone who does the work. They apply what they learn, experiment, fail, refine, and keep pushing forward—whether or not anyone is watching. Practitioners build procedural knowledge, meaning they’ve lived through the experience and earned their expertise.

    Practitioners say, “I did,” while parrots say, “I should.” And that distinction makes all the difference.

    So, how do you make the shift? Here are five tactical steps to go from just talking about success to creating it.

    Audit Your Knowledge vs. Execution
    Ask yourself: Are you consuming information just to sound smart, or are you applying it? Take stock of what you’ve learned recently and make a plan to put it into action immediately.

    Without a clear way to assess opportunities, it’s easy to say yes to things that drain your energy or take you off course. Been there, done that. But with the right system in place, you’ll be making smarter choices that align with your long-term goals, your brand, and your dream lifestyle.

    Here are the 11 questions I use to evaluate any opportunity:

    Does it align with my long-term vision?
    Does this opportunity support your dream reality? If it doesn’t get you closer to your goals, it’s a no. What’s the financial ROI?
    Your time is your most valuable asset. If there’s no clear path to profitability, it’s not worth it. Effort vs. Impact
    How much time, energy, and money will it require? Compare that to the expected payoff. Will it generate leads or business growth?
    Think about how this could positively impact your reputation and bring in new opportunities. Can my team handle it?
    Evaluate whether your current infrastructure has the bandwidth to make this happen without burning out. Does it align with my brand and lifestyle?
    This is a biggie! If it compromises your core values or takes away from your happy hustle lifestyle, pass. What are the risks?
    Consider the worst-case scenario. Is the juice worth the squeeze? Is it scalable and sustainable?
    Long-term wins > quick hits. Look for opportunities that have staying power. Will it bring personal fulfillment?
    Your life’s quality matters. If it doesn’t enhance your happiness or align with your purpose, it’s not worth it. Is it innovative or unique?
    Will this set you apart from competitors or bring something fresh to the table? Can success be clearly defined and measured?
    If you can’t measure the results, how will you know if it’s worth it?

    Not every opportunity is meant for you. And that’s okay! As they say, if it’s not a “hell yes,” it’s a no. But—and this is key—sometimes you need to say yes to stepping stones that lead to your ultimate goals. The point is to evaluate each decision carefully and ensure it aligns with where you want to go.
