And now for something a little different. On a recent visit to Morocco, which has its own burgeoning golf scene, Golf Advisor Editor-at-Large Matt Ginella spent some time with Nawal El Moutawakel, who has never played a round of golf in her life.
Here's what she did do: win Olympic gold in 1984 in Los Angeles in the women's 400-meter hurdles, making her the first woman from a majority-muslim country to win a gold medal.
El Moutawakel's background is fascinating and speaks to the evolution in a country with unique historic ties to our own. There is some golf talk in this episode, but overall it's a wonderful view into the life of an important sports figure you probably haven't heard of.
