We discuss the major changes, particularly focusing on immigration quotas, educational reforms, and new policies impacting various sectors. We start with an introduction to the significance of May 14th with the budget release and an overview of the Australian Treasury's annual budget release. Next, we cover the immigration quota changes, highlighting the reduction from 190,000 to 185,000 and providing a detailed breakdown of skilled immigration allocations. We also discuss the reforms to the 462 Working Holiday Visa, including the new application process for citizens from China, Vietnam, and India, and the goals of the new reforms to improve efficiency. The English language proficiency requirements have been raised, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 now required for student visas. The minimum requirement for English language intensive courses for overseas students has also increased. The temporary graduate visa (485 visa) now requires an IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each component. The validity of English tests for these visas has been shortened to 1 year. The genuine temporary entrance (GTE) requirement has been replaced by the genuine student test (GS), which focuses on genuine study purposes.
