One of our most requested interviewee's for a while now, we finally managed to all organise a time to chat.
We don't see much/any Omen here in the UK but we're very much aware of it's presence - and Greg has cemented himself as one of those foil brands thats worth listening to. His Youtube presence has been solid since the beginning and even Liam and I have learnt a lot by listening to him explain the likes of mast shims in easy and precise language on the internet - well worth a watch if you haven't already.
Enjoy the chat - its a lengthy one, and Liam and Greg really dive into the tech!
We're still blaming a slow start to the year for our lack of episodes.... but I understand its now nigh on May!! You'll be happy to hear the suns out here in the UK, the winds been stonking and Liam and I have both had some awesome sessions - which means chatting about said sessions can only be a short time away.

When Gabriella Bella messages you to say that Dave Kalama wants to come on the podcast, you don't quite know what to believe. April fool's?! Cruel joke set up by the X Foils podcast? A messenger from someone Freddie's offended. What neither of us expected was that he was a semi regular listener and was keen for a chinwag. It is fair to say that we both thoroughly enjored the oppurtunity to share a conversation with this watersports legend and think we made the most of it!
We hope you enjoy this one....if you don't, we'd may as well sack it all in!

Videographer extraordinaire, Dane Wilson
We met Dane for the first time last year when we were forced 'last minute' to MC his and Josh Ku's latest video escapades from Bali in Hood River. Turns out he's been involved with a fair few of our favourite foiling footage over the last few years - so we were keen to learn more.
This is what its all about - enthusiasm and enjoyment. Thanks to Dane for taking the time - we look forward to catching up again in real time, now we're better acquainted!
If you like what we're doing, check out https://buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast to support. We're hoping to use the funds to buy beers in both America and Australia later this year.... God knows those Aussie beers are expensive.

We've been quiet - its been a slow start to the year for both of us. But here we are, back with a nice new episode for all to hear.
Liams bought a house and is spending his days rubbing the walls down with sand paper, so he's been far too pre-occupied to talk foiling. Coupled with the constant rain and lack of motivation to get out, we haven't actually foiled until this sunday just gone - my first session since NZ!
So, we dissect a session and some more new kit as always, and we also put some thoughts down on this fancy new Titan2 system F-One have been getting some grief for. They're opinions, but they're fun ones.
Hope everyones been getting out and about more than us!
-
The start of the year is always a fun one with regards shakes up in the industry. One such shake up was hearing that Edo was leaving F-one after a very successful couple years working with the brand. Where would he end up going?
It might have come as a surprise to hear he was going to be working alongside the Slingshot guys - but I recon once you've listened to what the man himself has to say you'll understand the decision completely.
A young man at the pinnacle of his discipline meets a young team with a tonne of potential at a brand with a strong heritage - we look forward to seeing where that can go!
-
FOILING NNEEEEWWWWWWSSSSZ! This is big!
In this episode Liam sits down with Ken Adgate and Kyle Touhey...funnily enough, they talk about boards. The boys have wanted to have this catch up for a long time to review Liam's most recent DIY board project which they provided the shape for, but it got pushed quickly to the top of the to do list when we found out that one of the big dog foil brands were bringing the guy's most recent design concept to production.
This is something I'm so stoked to see come to fruition and it is something that, now the wheels are in motion, I can't help being surprised it didn't happen sooner. Anyway, listen along to hear what they've been up to. We hope you enjoy the episode.

Freddie went to New Zealand and had a great time - if thats all you need to hear, then maybe give this episode a miss....
If not, we delve into his time down under and the many multiple sessions had one many multiple discipline while down there. Some lovely chat on Parawangs too....

Kane De Wilde - Foiling extraordinaire and designer for KT foiling. This was a really enjoyable relaxed episode with Kane in which you get a sense about the man behind the riding and design. We cover a wide range of topics including:
- Hollow board construction and comaprisons
- Hawaii downwind race series & racing mindset
- His personal design philosophies
- Why he rides such a wide array of equipment and gets so creative with his riding.
- Favourite pizza toppingsThere was some sort of audio interferance going on during recording unfortuantely which I've done my best to remove in the edit, sorry if you notice that and it affects the listening experience.
We hope you enjoy the episode.

Finally - we hear you say!
The lesser known Buurma brother - hiding away in Portugal running the factory and surfing every day
Wieger and Jorrit run and operate Appletree themselves - but Wieger has been the face of the brand online for a while now. As soon as we met Jorrit in 2024 we knew we had to chuck him in the limelight a little too - he’s too funny to sit in the background.
We recorded this in his office, after hours in the Appletree factory while on a lads trip to Portugal with some friends. We discuss their new Radix mast connection concept system, upcoming hollow board projects and delve into the new finishing products they’re now using.
It’s techy but enjoyable - a pleasure to listen back to!

3rd times a charm they say! Back in Richies hot tub, post session together and pre party (which got a bit loose) This year we delved relatively deep into actual foiling stuff which might be a surprise and of some interest. There is an awful lot of nonsense too though...
Been looking forward to doing this for a long time - it’s a great tradition we’ve started for ourselves and long may it continue. It’s been a busy year for all and it’s been a while since the four of us sat down at all - perhaps we need to prioritise doing this more often, even without the mics!
Enjoy the ridiculousness of this latest episode of nonsense. We hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and we’ll see you in the New Year!

Something a little bit different for you today. Daniel Riley is a full time Youtuber having amassed nearly a million subscribers at the time of recording. His Youtube channel follows his 'builds' and interests, which include almost anything that flies in air or water.
In recent years he has done more and more content around hydrofoiling—dockstarting, building his own TowBoogie (Toby the Tow Boat), making one of the world's largest autopilot efoils with a paddleboard and lawnchair. He is a fascinating character with knowledge and stories to share.
If you're not already, consider subscribing to Daniel's channel RCTESTFLIGHT and following him on his socials. I suspect you'll be glad you did.

Liam and Freddie have interviews in the bank but pushed back the releases because they wanted a chat. It's a bloody good job they did, as they manifested a new Woo World Record! Have a listen and see what we mean. This was recorded on Thur 04/12/2025 2 days before Hugo Wigglesworth recorded a 40m jump on the WOO!!!

Australia's best prone foiler of 2025, France's best prone foiler of 2025, UK's second best prone foiler of 2025.
He's held a bit of the limelight this Autumn with this trip to see us in the UK and then a domination at the French Surf foil events - its about time we sat down and chatted properly.
A discussion into surf foiling, kit, riding style, judging and why he keeps ballsing up his downwind race prep - please welcome Duke Cactuson.
After spending a week traipsing around Hood River with Luke for a week in 2024 we were very happy to hear he was being shipped over to the UK into our jurisdiction for the Kernow Foil Classic event this year! A very relaxed and very talented chap, this episode reflects exactly that - we hope you enjoy!
GFP wise - We've got a Newsletter going if you hadn't already heard..... check out our website to sign up - www.genericfoilingpod.com. We'll be sending blog style posts out every two weeks with funny tit bits we've cut out of episodes, things we've enjoyed in the world of foiling that week as well as any thoughts and foiling news that we deem worthy - get signed up, it'll be fun i promise!

One of the most popular episodes from last year, and bound to be one of the most popular episodes this year, please welcome Paul Martin, Co-Founder of Foil Drive.
We love chatting to Paul because he combines an open-book personality with incredibly unique life experiences, which we dig even deeper into in this episode. He is one of those individuals that people instinctively know to pay attention to and listen to.
As well as hearing about the all-new FUSION system (and some complimentary product releases that are still to be released!), you'll get to know the real Paul Martin (Mr Egg) even better. Who'd have guessed that his whole approach to learning was moulded by hindered vision as a child!?
Enjoy the episode and let us know what you think!
Until next time...

This is as chilled as it gets - sitting down in the carpark of the Hatchery with Mike, eating home made smoked salmon and drinking tea.
Great to finally meet Mike in person - he's been a great guy to chat to and bounce ideas off since we first talked with him online a couple of years ago. A great, honest and inpdeth chat about all things North too!
As far as us - check out the website, sign up to the newest newsletter on the block, buy a T-Shirt, support us on Buymeacoffee and for the love of god - Rate us 5 stars on Spotify! Is that too much to ask? Probably.....

Welcome back Adrian Roper of AXIS Foils - the man who still holds the mantle for the most listened to podcast we've ever done - from 2 years ago!
We were already keen to chat to Adrian about the mountain of new innovations that seem to be hitting the market soon from AXIS - but before we had a chance to ask, he cornered us in the carpark of the Hatch to ask us exactly the same.
It was hard to miss the hype around the brand at the AWSI show this year - there was a hive of activity around the stand the whole time we were there, and its also been very apparent from the downwind race season this year that AXIS had some pretty impressive kit on the way.
So, we let Adrian bring over all these new bits to show us through. Hopefully at some point we'll put some video up from it, because as you'll hear - he's man handling kit the entire episode. Frank even joins us at the end to discuss their relationship for a few minutes as well.
Podcast aside - we've been busy squirelling away on a couple bits. You may have noticed our t-shirt selling chitter chatter on the stories. Check out https://genericfoilingpod.com/shop for access to our t-shirts.
Liams also been working to make the website work a bit smoother (like a real life professional website) and you'll also notice theres a newsletter sign up form on there...... we're doing it! The first newsletter was sent out this Saturday just gone and we'll aim to do one every second saturday morning. I'll write one then liam will write one and hopefully you'll get a bit of a snippet of anything and everything else we don't get around to discussing in our episodes.
if you like what we're doing, theres also a link to the Buy me a Coffee account on the website - where you can chip in and buy us some beers. All profits go towards those beers as well as funding our next trip and media ideas!

Where did Slingshot come from and where is Slingshot going?? A great chat with Jeff Logosz, CEO of the brand - sat in the Offices in Hood River during our trip to the states.
Liam and I loved this one - coming from a kite background we loved hearing about the days where it all began.
We’ve also managed to nab some foils off Sam Light in the UK since we got home and Liams been spending a good bit of time on the One-Lock system. He’s a big fan, even in the first few sessions - gonna be an interesting debrief in our next chat together no doubt
We’ve still got t-shirt stock in all sizes - check out genericfoilingpod.com/shop to put in your orders - or if you’d like to support what we’re doing differently, check out buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast

This week's episode is one that Freddie and I have been looking forward to for some time. Please welcome Connor Bainbridge, fellow Brit, man of many talents, and 2024 Formula Kite Olympian.
In this episode we get a:

- sneak peak into the operations of Blue Fox Boards
- An example of the power of giving designers and engineers critical feedback
- history of his long period with F-One
- understanding of what Connor is now working on at Ozone
...all mixed in with some chitty chatty you've come to expect from GFP.

A great, refreshing and honest chat with Jon Modica - Cabrinha’s head honcho. We hear the story of how Jon went from Team Ripper right up to Chairman of the Board.
We were excited for this one having heard murmurings of a connection between Cabrinha and Mikes Lab for their new foil range connection system - we had to find out the truth!
Had to put the second and third photos up alongside.....
