  • In today's episode of The Fit Beaute Report, I am beyond thrilled to welcome a very special guest and dear friend, Dr. Gabriella Baki. Our collaboration dates back to our first cosmetic chemistry camp, where we worked together to keep young girls off the streets of Houston by introducing them to the wonders of science and beauty. Having Dr. Baki on the show today feels like a true full-circle moment.

    Dr. Baki is an associate professor at the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, where she serves as the program director and main instructor for the BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences Cosmetic Science and Formulation Design major - the first and most comprehensive undergraduate program in the United States focused exclusively on cosmetics and personal care products.

    With a background as a pharmacist and a PhD in Pharmaceutics from the University of Szeged, Hungary, Dr. Baki brings a unique perspective and deep expertise to her research, which focuses on topical delivery for active ingredients and cosmetic actives, sensory testing of creams and lotions, and sun protection factor and broad-spectrum boosting technologies.

    Throughout her career, Dr. Baki has made over 20 technical presentations, written over 45 publications, contributed to book chapters, and even authored her own book, "Introduction to Cosmetic Formulation and Technology," now in its second edition.

    In addition to her academic and research achievements, Dr. Baki is actively involved in the cosmetic science community, currently serving as chair of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists NextGen Advisory Committee in 2023.

  • During this episode, I had a chat with Michelle, an incredible woman in tech who has a talent for coding and creativity. We discussed the process of raising venture capital for a technology company and the platform Shefundraises, which provides opportunities for funding applications. Additionally, we explored Michelle's innovative app, My Librarian, and its purpose in catering to book enthusiasts.

    Michelle Zaffino has over 15 years of content experience including magazine and online publishing, writing, information architecture, content architecture strategy and management, copywriting and editing. She worked in New York for Redbook, Elle, Sports Afield and Esquire, and while managing the research department at Marie Claire, wrote Does Your Man Need A Makeover?, which inspired tv’s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Now living in San Francisco, she works as a content strategist, information architect and library consultant and has been published in The Bold Italic, among others. She recently completed her first teen novel, How Good It Can Be, a sequel, The Love Quad, a historical novel for teens, and is currently working on a series for young adults, a memoir and a library/publishing startup.

    NEW YORK, April 5th, 2023—Roundiverse, an exclusive new and totally unique NFT project, genuinely like no other, will make its debut of digital fashion at the spectacular NFT NYC expo April 12-14. Roundiverse is spearheaded by the high-energy creative mind of renowned fashion designer Qingqing Wu, founder of fashion studio VLOV.

    As a fashion designer with more than 20 years of multi-faceted premier-level experience, Wu is consistently cited as one of China Fashion Week’s Top Ten Fashion Designers. VLOV previously presented his collections at Lincoln Center for Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, with critically acclaimed collections modeled by some of the industry’s top male talents, including Sean O’Pry, Clement Chabernaud, Simone Nobili, Simon van Meervenne, River Viiperi, James Smith, and Sebastian Sauve.

    In addition to the New York Fashion Week shows, Wualso served as the head designer of the official commemorative outfits for major world leaders, including former U.S. president Barack Obama.

    Today, Qingqing Wu is taking his brand into the metaverse with expressive and purposeful digital fashion, conceptes designed for the future. He plans to return to NYFW digitally in 2023.
