Millions are searching for an alternative to Ozempic.
Why? Besides cost being an issue, the side effects can be unbearable. Most people only stay on the weight loss drug for two months before stopping. For all the good it does for weight loss, there are a ton of unwanted side effects, including "O face."
The good news is that there are natural alternatives to weight-loss drugs that carry none of the same sometimes embarrassing or painful side effects.
Dr. Michael Greger joins "The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll on The Exam Room Podcast to talk about the good and bad of Ozempic and other weight loss drugs. Dr. Greger is the author of Ozempic: Risks, Benefits, and Natural Alternatives to GLP-1 Weight-Loss Drugs.
Chuck offers his point of view as someone who has lost nearly 300 pounds and kept it off for over 15 years.
In This Conversation:
- The side effects of Ozempic
- Does Ozempic work for weight loss?
- Do the risks of Ozempic outweigh the rewards?
- How much does Ozempic cost?
- How long does Ozempic work?
- What are alternatives for Ozempic and weight-loss drugs?

Americans say there is no place for the likes of McDonald's and Chick-fil-A in hospitals.
The giants of fast food are serving greasy, fatty, artery-clogging foods in the same building where patients are receiving artery-opening stents and pacemakers. Often these lifesaving surgeries are just a floor or two above where the unhealthy combo meals are being served up.
In a way it's like having an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting above a bar. It just doesn't make sense.
Eating fast food four times a week may increase heart disease risk by 80%, according to one study.
So, why is it happening?
Dr. Roxanne Becker joins "The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll on The Exam Room Podcast to talk about the findings of the hospital survey that revealed mounting frustrations with the state of hospital food.

Molly Patrick is a self-described dirty girl who loves to eat clean.
Her path to healthy living is unique to say the least, but it has also helped her transform thousands of others into the healthy bodies they've always desired.
Molly grew up living off the land. Her parents fashioned their home out of mud, straw, and rocks. They did not have electricity, hot water, or indoor plumbing. It was truly an 18th century way of life in modern times.
Interestingly, Molly has never eaten meat. Her passion for healthy eating was developed early. Yet, she still struggled with health in other areas. She has overcome addictions to cigarettes and has been sober since 2015.
This is certainly one of the most unique stories ever told on The Exam Room Podcast.
"The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll sits down with the Clean Food Dirty Girl, Molly Patrick, for an unforgettable tale of health on The Exam Room.

The premise: 22 sets of healthy twins are put to the test. One identical twin begins to eat an entirely plant-based diet while their sibling eats a meaty omnivorous diet.
While 70% of the diets were identical, 30% of the omnivorous diet was comprised of meat and other animal foods. It would be that 30% that proved the difference maker in terms of the cardiometabolic health of the twins.
In just eight weeks the changes were nothing short of astounding.
On average, the twin eating the plant-based diet lost an additional four pounds, lowered their LDL ("bad") cholesterol by 15 points, and experienced a 20 percent improvement in fasting insulin compared to their meat eating sibling.
Go inside the remarkable study that was the basis for the hit Netflix documentary You Are What You Eat.
Nutrition scientist and Stanford professor Christopher Gardner, PhD, is one of the lead researchers of the study. He outlines the findings and takes you behind the scenes of the documentary when he joins "The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll on The Exam Room Podcast.
Topics Discussed
- Telomeres lengthening with plant-base diet
- Genetics, biological clocks, and aging
- Cholesterol effects on twins
- Challenges of the study
- Responding to criticism
- And more
This episode was recorded at the International Conference on Nutrition in Medicine in Washington, D.C.

The truth about olive oil and your health is becoming clear.
The results of a well-designed randomized clinical trial yield the answer to a puzzling question: Is olive oil healthy?
The lead researcher, Dr. Monica Aggarwal, discusses what she calls "provocative data" gathered from the study. Would olive oil still prove to a healthy food if all participants were eating a healthy whole food, plant-based diet instead of the standard diet, which is often lower in nutrients and higher in fat?
While the study admittedly has limitations, the results unequivocally demonstrated that olive oil may not be as healthy as many believe.
Dr. Aggarwal joins "The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll with the findings.
