Our Robbienatural series continues with a breakdown of the way Robbie Thompson used metanarratives, parallels, audience acknowledgement, and unexpected character mashups to play into (and against) expectations. Honestly, this could play into most of Robbie's episodes on SPN but we'll be focusing on First Born, No Place Like Home, Metafiction, and Don't Call Me Shurley.
Tangents include: Which SPN cast member we unexpectedly know from DCOMs, what couple from Mean Girls Dean/Amar most remind us of, and why we miss The Winchesters.

This episode we're thrilled to be joined by writer Nic Chatree Sridej, who worked in the writers room on The Winchesters and penned episode 1x08 "Hang Onto Your Life". In this conversation Lydia, Rachel, and Nic discuss finding your voice, the many roles that make up a writers room, and the different approaches to adaptation that Nic experienced working on projects like Starz' American Gods, Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender, and (of course) The Winchesters.

This week we begin our Robbienatural miniseries: a deep dive into Robbie Thompson's work on both Supernatural and The Winchesters and we're kicking things off with a look into the SPN episodes Slash Fiction, Bitten, Baby, and Safe House (or, as we call them, The Experimentals).
Written by Robbie Thompson during his tenure on the flagship show, these episodes break format on SPN's established episode structure and offer viewers new insights and perspectives into the lives of Sam and Dean. We'll also be discussing how the storytelling techniques and literary devices on display in these episodes went on to inform our experiences with The Winchesters first (and only) season.
Tangents include: Suspension of disbelief, Crowded Table(s), and Future Showrunners (Ryan Murphy DNI).

We're back! We're back! And with something very special to entice you after our long hiatus.
This episode we're talking to playwright and television writer Rachel Lynett, who worked in the writers room on The Winchesters and penned episode 1x09 "Cast Your Fate to the Wind". This interview was a joy to record as Rachel (our Rachel) and Lydia got to hear all about Rachel Lynett's transition from theatre to television, what the experience in the room was like, and what we would have liked to see beyond the prequel's fated first season. Plus: A look into what's ahead for the pod.

Well, you're probably heard the news and now here we are to talk about it. The Winchesters may not be returning for a second season but we're still thankful to the cast and crew for bringing thirteen episodes to life. In this quick announcement we'll be talking about our reactions to the cancellation and the future of the pod and give a special welcome to our newest (and youngest) host.
Thank to everyone who's joined us so far. New episodes of The End of the Book will return in September.

While all three of our fearless hosts have seen all fifteen seasons of Supernatural (aka SPN Prime aka The Mothership), some of them remember it a little better than others. This week, in lieu of a new episode of The Winchesters to cover, Rachel and Jen quiz Lydia on everything that did and didn't happen on our favourite show.

CW: This episode contains discussions of topics related to racism and antisemitism.
---
This week Rachel, Jen, and Lyd discuss Suspicious Minds, a muddled episode in an otherwise promising first season, and the frustrating, unchecked pervasiveness of antisemitism in fantasy media. Not without some bright spots, tangents include: Roxy (Rockin' or Not?), giving Carlos and Lata the A-Plot, and wigs??
