Kudzai Nyamondo was born in Zimbabwe before moving to the UK to launch her career in Cancer Science. Her initial passion for this route came when her brother suffered from a tumour at a young age and she felt helpless.
She’s now a Post Doc Research Fellow at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, focusing on Blood Cancer and how it develops by analysing DNA. Her hope is that a better understanding of these patterns will help us to intervene earlier and save lives.
As a Black woman in science, Kudzai didn’t see many role models in her space to take inspiration from so she dreamt her way up. And wants to inspire you to join her.
We talked all about how she’s been able to build her ideal career in science, the importance of embracing adventure (moving from Africa to Aberdeen!), originally wanting to study medicine, how to decide on doing a Masters or PhD and how to learn to fail quickly.
Get inspired today.
