C a p t u r i n g M o m e n t s
George Karbus, one of the most recognised outdoor photographers in the world joins me for this conversation.
He has won some of the top awards in the world for his photographs, including Nature's Best Photography Award, Outdoor Photographer of the Year, British Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Red Bull Illume and Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
George describes his work as Wild Ocean photography he has developed an incredible ability in capturing landscapes, water and wildlife around both in Ireland and all around the World.
He freedives for each of his underwater shots which requires patience, calmness and a high level of skill in order to create a shot which captures the moment.
Most notable in his work is how he develops relationships with animals in order to capture a photograph their behaviour in their natural habitat. One of these being a relationship with a wild dophin off the West Coast of Clare called Dusty or as his family call Malinka (little girl in Czech) which he and his family have swum with for over 12 years and which has produced work which has won some of the top outdoor photography awards in the world.
He has created his life around what he loves in nature, photography and family in the West of Ireland, this episode uncovers his journey from his native Czech Republic growing up in communist times to where he is today.

Dan Murphy from Hermitage Green joins me for this conversation.
Hermitage Green are a five piece Irish acoustic folk rock band who are renowned for their live performances.
Dan is one of the lead singers for the band and also plays multiple instruments including the guitar, dobro, harmonica and he beatboxes.

David Owens is a street musician.
He has played in 35 different cities in Europe in front of hundreds of thousands of people on streets, in concerts and at festivals.
5 years ago he left his job as an engineer/mathematician to travel and busk and today he is a one of the top street musicians in Ireland.
David performs behind a grand piano on Grafton St. in Dublin where he also plays the guitar.
He is a singer-songwriter with a soft yet strong voice which carries the emotions of his music.
The conversation takes us through David's journey from making music at 5 to where he is today about to perform in his first large solo gig at a dedicated music venue.

Finbar McHugh aka Finbar 247 is an artist and a teacher.
Originally known as a graffiti artist with over 10 years experience he has now evolved with his art.
Today he creates pieces which are expansive and full of colour expressing an inner landscape which in turn gives people moments to reflect and learn about their own lives.
If you haven't seen his work then it's worth following him on Instagram to see the range of work and the incredible talent and person he is.

Damian Browne is an incredible human.
He has had a professional career in Rugby Union spanning 16 years, having played with Leinster, Connacht, Northampton and several French teams at the highest level of the professional sport.
His feats outside of sport as an individual are equally as impressive.
Completing the toughest foot race on earth called the Marathon Des Sables, 6 days through the Sahara Desert in 2016.
Travelling through many of the lesser known and frequented countries of the world.
This year completing a solo row across the Atlantic Ocean over 63 days unassisted.
He describes himself as human, exploring life externally and internally.
This is one of the most interesting conversations I have had and one I learned so much from.
We trace back through the progression to being professional sportsman, to the massive feats he has achieved and dive deep into what it's all for.

Pa Sheehy the lead singer and main lyricist of Walking On Cars, an Indie Pop band from Dingle in Kerry.
He is also my cousin and I would have spend considerable time with him growing up in his native Dingle in Kerry which made this episode a particularly interesting one.
I had plenty to ask and to uncover what led him to where he is today as a professional artist in an extremely successful Irish band.
This episode traces his journey from growing up, to his move towards a career in music and all that happened along the way.

Joe Caslin is a street artist and teacher. His art work are large scale drawings across Ireland which explore societal issues. His work has surrounded themes of mental health, sexuality, drug addiction amongst others. As you will hear in the episode these drawings are meant to start a conversation rather than to tell you something, the images speak for themselves. "They are bringing people from the peripheries of society back into the conversation.” We discuss: What led Joe to being a street artist. The power of images to open conversations.
