RAISING THE BAR FOR ONLINE COACHING! -
In this episode, I sit down with my great friend, Co-Founder of Fortify Health Coaching, Meredith Paci to discuss a topic that is becoming more and more poignant. All too often, our clients are dealing with issues that they’re unable to pinpoint that, unbeknownst to them, are preventing them from not only achieving their results, but actually feeling as good as they can be. Today, we’re going to dive into how coaches can do a better job of identifying, triaging and unwinding common dysfunctions you will encounter in your coaching practice.
Meredith Paci's journey from professional dancer to transformative health coach embodies her lifelong dedication to understanding human potential. After working as a dental hygienist, her personal battles with body dysmorphia, hormonal health, and surgical-induced menopause sparked a deeper mission to revolutionize women's health care. Meredith co-founded Fortify Health Coaching in 2023, where she combines her extensive training in digestive, thyroid, adrenal, and female health with mentorship from industry leaders like leaders like Austin Stout, Jason Theobald, Paul Oneid, Katie Morra, Kristen Johnson and Maria Clap of Wise and Well. As a Certified Midlife Specialist, she empowers clients to rewrite their health stories through a unique blend of clinical expertise and personal experience.
We discuss:
What does dysfunction mean?
Starting with where the individual is.
What are the red flags that might go unnoticed by both coach and client?
Everything has pros, cons, and trade-offs.
The role of the coach in facilitating options and support to allow the client to make the right choice.
The ethics of coaching.
Digestive signs of dysfunction that are normalized.
Getting curious, asking questions, and never making assumptions.
Stress management as a KPI.
The major impacting factors on functional health.
The interconnected nature of health.
How to get to the root cause of dysfunction because nothing exists in isolation?
What is the role of testing within this process?
Working with providers as a liaison for client care?
Creating a coaching team with the client and provider.

After navigating the rehab ourselves, we learned more than we could have ever imagined and collaborated on a robust resource to help others going through quad or patellar tears. We’re going to dive into the experiences and hard learned lessons along the way.
We discuss:

Initial emotional reactions when we got hurt
Depression post-injury
Heavy doses of reality.
The pain scale changes forever.
The mindset around a career-ending injury.
Why did we create this resource?
Systematizing the rehab process.

In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Dylan Seeley DC to discuss some of the cutting edge experimentation with vision training, breathwork and autonomic regulation. As always Dylan is leading the way integrating the new school and the old school within different populations - the definition of being “evidence-based” and client centered.

Went on to receive a rugby scholarship to Wheeling University and later another rugby scholarship to Palmer College of Chiropractic. While at Palmer he studied under former Olympic Bobsled coach and current DNS instructor Dave Juehring. After graduating Palmer, he went on to further his education by learning from Daivd Grey, England Rugby physiotherapist (Dave O’Sullivan), BFR guru (Mario Novo), and a whole host of individuals that are top of their respective fields. Dylan recently opened up my clinic, Inferno Performance and Rehab where he provides in person and online care. Dylan has been fortunate to work with individuals in a wide range of pro sports and those at the Olympic academies. When not in the clinic Dylan trains professional combat sport athletes.

Performance is the only metric that matters… can that be quantified?
Breath and stress
Neurological implications of CO2
You’re limited by your imagination and creativity
Integrating vision with breath work to influence ANS response

In this episode, we do the first ever CCU Podcast 3 way, as I sit down with Dean Guedo and Jeb Johnston to dive deep into the medications that have been sweeping through North America - GLP1 Agonists. The class of GLP1 drugs includes, Semaglutide (Ozempic), Terzepatide (Mounjaro) and the newest generation, yet to be released, Retatrutide. These drugs have been showing incredible results in the treatment of Type-2 Diabetes and being used off-label in the treatment of obesity.
There is a lot of drama around these drugs because, just like anything that works, it brings up a lot of emotions - are they an easy way out, or a boon for the health industry? Are we setting people up for failure long term? Can the weight loss be maintained? We dive into it all.
Dean is a strength and nutrition coach driven to find a better, more efficient way to help people optimize their lives. The recipe I'm selling is doing more, eating more, moving more.
Jeb has spent the past ten years guiding people through their fitness journey as a personal trainer and online nutrition coach. His philosophy is simple but effective: focus on behavior change as the vehicle for transformation.

In this episode of the podcast, I sit down with Joel Proskewitz once again. If you didn’t catch our previous discussion, it directly feeds into this conversation. Both Joel and I have experienced traumatic injury and today, we discuss our experiences and how we draw on those experiences as we work to help our clients navigate their own recovery.
Joel Proskewitz is a spinal rehabilitation specialist. He deals primarily with mechanical neck and low back pain and has a special interest in pre/post spinal surgery patients. He is one of only two people in the world to teach for Professor Stuart McGill (Head of spinal biomechanics, University of Waterloo) and travels the world extensively teaching and sharing his experience, understanding and rehabilitation of the human spine to a mix of clinicians, spinal surgeons, and associated professionals. He is the only non-physician to be a permanent member of an elite spinal medical team in London, UK and works closely with surgeons, pain consultants, rheumatologists, and radiologists. He regularly presents and contributes towards complex spinal cases with his medical team. Joel has had 7 spinal surgeries himself, so fully understands the rehabilitation journey, both physically and mentally and draws from this experience to assist his patients in the ultimate hope of empowering them to look after their own spine.
We discuss:
Rehab and recovery timelines and the individual
Biopsychosocial model - everything matters
Pre-injury conditioning impacting recovery
The mental game of rehab
Stress and the healing process
Individualized exercise prescription in rehab
Layering exercise prescription on top of the psychological profile of the individual
Coach-client relationship as the basis for everything
