Are you tired of thinking about food all the time?
I remember when I was 40 pounds heavier, I would use food to not be bored, not feel overwhelmed, and try not to be sad. If I was feeling bad, I was looking for something to eat.
Jalepeno kettle chips did the trick.
Until I started thinking endlessly about how terrible I was for eating them. I was consumed with thinking about food...or beating myself up for eating food.
It was exhausting.
And, the boredom, overwhelm and sadness didn't go away.
When the chip were gone, it all came back.
This is Day 3 of our Prayer, Protocol, & Protein Challenge. We talk about food decisions.

This is Day 2 of our Prayer, Protocol & Protein Challenge.
A lot of us don't think to include the Holy Spirit in our weight-loss journey.
A lot of that is because of guilt and shame. We feel bad for our eating habits, so we want to hide.
But we have the Holy Spirit in us and He want to partner with us.
There are so many stories in the Bible where God uses humans to help Him bring about His plan.
God created Adam because He wanted someone to rule the earth and work the land.
Noah was called by God to help save the animals of the earth during the flood.
God called Moses to help Him bring His people out of slavery from Egypt.
And when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, he asked the people to move the stone from the tomb first.
We serve a God who never changes.
He wants to partner with us to free ourselves from the bondage of food and self-loathing.
In today's challenge we talk about who the Holy spirit is and who we are in Him.

This past week I hosted a Prayer, Protocol & Protein Challenge. It was fun. It was powerful.
This is Day 1. We covered a little bit of each subject.

When we have the over-desire to be thin, it leads us to over-try to be thin.
Wanting to be thin so much but not believing we can do it, creates over-desire and over-trying.
Over-trying leads to burnout, trying too hard, getting tense, anxious and wrapped in the goal of losing weight.
This happens when we believe being thinner will make us happier.

When something happens that upsets you, do you want to overeat?
And for some of us, the action of over-eating upsets us enough so that we just keep over-eating.
When this happens, we can take our power back doing 2 steps & asking ourselves 5 questions.
Step 1: Write what happened. The whole story.
Step 2: List just the facts.
The rest is just story. It’s what we are telling ourselves about the facts.
The story is what creates how we feel about it. That’s why sometimes…we feel ok about the situation and other times feel terrible about it.
It’s not the situation that changes, it’s the story we are telling ourselves.

Loving ourselves thin is a commitment.
I want to offer that there is no other path to thinness that is acceptable.
We all have those moments where we stand on the scale and it doesn't comply. Even if we are doing all the things "right." The scale can go up.
It's in these moments that we will be tempted to abandon ourselves.
We decided we need to go to an extreme to get the "fat" off now. Or we decide that nothing works and we tell ourselves to just go eat anything we want since nothing works anyway.
This never works.
In these moments, there will be anb urge to quit. There will be an urge to get mad at yourself. An urge to hate yourself.
These urges matter.
The difference between someone losing the weight permanently and someone who doesn't is managing these urges to quit.
